Hi Aaron, I’m in my 60’s and about a year ago my daughter told me about Procreate. I started doodling in it. I’m definitely not going to be a professional artist but I sure am having fun. I love watching videos artists like you have made. You and your art delivers smiles and joy. I’ll probably never do too much with the Procreate Dreams but, I’m definitely going to have fun trying. My grandchildren love to play doodling fun with grandma. Thank you for sharing your creative genius. ❤
@@Tonabillityand then theyre lost why their rigged 2d flats dont look as good as frame by frame. They basically want an auto ai to makeup all the missing info. Which is practically everything.
@@LilyUnicorn I have NO doubt that’s what the Future has in store! Can’t use it for my animations yet with so many features missing, but they are definitely on the right track especially with being able to do post effects live and non destructively right in the app. Still I was a fair bit disappointed with how many key features is missing in the initial release, my biggest gripe is the forced antialiasing on the canvas that’s zoom dependent.
@kikercreativethe hope here is that it's not nerfed but just a future update. I'm assuming at the very least the laso, brush editing, most of the popular Procreate features will be added as even for fans like me they are glaring missing elements and would hurt their sales if not added. That said I am nervous that they might be in the mentality of wanting folks to buy both so having some elements not be in Dreams to have folks buy procreate might be a thing. But that would be dumb because it's so annoying to draw in one, export/import animate in the other. It's just such a slow down. That said, rough animation like what he's showing works really well, but yeah they'll need quite a few updates for it to be used professionally
@kikercreative that's it! And this is so early on the release that updates are definitely coming it just depends what they will be. I'm sure most of us have procreate so if they did want to keep detail editing to procreate even if it's a smooth transition between both where say you do a quick gesture and it pops into procreate and back to dreams that would already help but still feels iffy to me. Anywho like you said time will tell and they company unlike so many seem so human and fan focused that I can only see this getting better. Wasn't there in the early Procreate days but apparently they updated it quite a bit to the point where early Procreate and current Procreate are quite different
@@p_toMost features like lasso do fortunately seem to be in the works, but they’ve expressed on twitter that “Brush Studio” is staying as a procreate only feature, and that they’ll only bring light editing like streamline to Dreams. I seriously hope they change their mind on that, it’s seems a bit annoying that you can’t change your brushes live when a task calls for a different approach.

1:13:00 wait a minute, Aaron did the Dream penguin animation short using the ORIGINAL iPad Pro?!? That’s AMAZING (especially because that’s what I’m using right now LOL 😂)
TIP to avoid wearing gloves: In your project, click the project title in order to enter settings, go to preferences, and unclick "Enable painting with finger"
At 1:32:39 and following to 1:38:36 why do you have to outline the color area using a brush ? Does ProCreate Dreams not have a basic paintbucket fill tool to automatically fill flat areas of color ? (no gap closer to fill where lines may not be completely closed off ?)
IMO ALL Procreate tools and shortcuts need to be added to Dreams... I can't double tap my apple pencil to switch from ink to eraser, and that's really a necessity. Otherwise, it's incredible.
Great stream. I wonder if Aaron has every tried other animation apps on ipad although the app doesnt make up for skill I'd be curious to know his thoughts on ToonSquid. I started trying other ones after trying dreams, dreams is alright and I tried Toon Squid for first time, and personally its the easiest /best as far as ipad animation apps to me. It's like procreate but with a timeline, the app is more intuitive, can just focus on animating.
Same experience, dreams felt like something was missing, and kept crashing for me. So, I gave Toon Squid a try, and I got to say, it's been surprisingly fun, and easy to work with.
@16:00 No iPad screens resolution is 4K. Now you can edit and manipulate 4k content, but the screen itself is more like 2.7k not 4K. just want to make sure people understand that that asked.
9:14 The truth is Procreate Dreams has been misleading in the since artist can not create animation of this quality solely in dreams. All of these shots were drawn externally and imported over to Procreate Dreams because the drawing features and layers with Dreams do not function at the same quality. 12:00 These were not drawn in Dreams they were imported from standard procreate.
Dreams was designed to work together with Procreate. Like creating illustrations in Illustrator and then brought into After Effects for animation. Each frame of the characters was still drawn in Dreams, it has the ability to create this level of character animation.
