Dang, not just a timelapse voiceover but proper sound editing, visual FX, graphical elements to visualize what's being talked about. Naka's really putting in the work 💪
There's ONE thing about this video that I would push back on a little bit - the title. Your art style does not need to be unique to be inspiring, to be useful, to create something you want, to create something new. I think valuing uniqueness can often lead people astray from truly exploring methods that they may try out otherwise. Regardless, I do think the general message of the video is important, especially about exploring. Great video and awesome art, I love how the community got involved!!
Great points, but, I believe every artstyle is intrinsically unique; two people may have an anime style, but each artist’s preferences will always shine through even if they’re similar styles (unless it’s something like an art study or a studio-made animation). Being unique doesn’t necessarily mean being drastically different from everyone else; it means having qualities that authentically reflect you and only you, if that makes sense. You’re right in that people shouldn’t chase after being unique because everyone’s styles are intrinsically unique. Personally my art style(s) can vary a lot and experimentation is something I prize in art, but the way I think and the themes of my style are still recognisable and reflect what I love. Haven’t finished watching the vid yet so sorry if this is hard to understand or redundant 😅
@HermitFanimations I also think that every art style is intrinsically unique, and the fact that I didn't really say that in my original comment is kinda bothering me lmao, I should've been more clear. I totally agree that art style doesn't need to be drastically different to be considered unique, but that's exactly why I think uniqueness isn't something to make as a goal. All art it intrinsically unique, but striving for uniqueness can end up harming people's creative process, that's really all I was trying to say. I totally agree with your comment as well!!
sometimes its hard for the idea that "failure is necessary" in art to click, but the quote "i am here because *i was there*" is such an elegant way to put it
You're quickly becoming one of my favourite art channels and its not even bc you're my friend lol, you truly have a natural charisma and flare for this!
I've only recently been playing around with how my style art looks. Been showing to my friend through messages, we been sharing and complimenting along with providing tips on going to simple from to more dynamic ways of art in terms of structure with how anatomy works. This video is very helpful! I've also been using references that has also been fun.
I know its not that relevant, but the song at the start by Jules Gaia is very common background music for creatives on youtube But even tho its electro swing its not usually acknowledged as old-fashion sounding I just wanted to say as a fan of electro swing it caught me off-guard and its fun lol
You appeared randomly on my youtube, seemed so familar and I couldn't figure out why. You were in chroma corps! Awesome video, really like the way you structured it visually and your art is incredible, will be following your journey and art a bit more closely now. keep the great work!
You've really got the sauce dude, incredible project with everyone's different cubes. I love how creative they are! Some incredibly useful advice I want to follow. I've recently realised how much I struggle to find what style I like, but I think I'll find it by drawing/painting a variety of things and generally improving and leaving my comfort zone Great video!
Im really glad i subscribed to you after that first video! This is great advice and when i get off work its straight to the desk to draw and write! Tha ks NAKA
It was so great to participate in this project!! Thank you for the creation and its incredible to see your channels grow like this, wish you all the best
I also want to have that many art friends 😭Great video buddy! Still struggling with being afraid of failure the most, but I'm pretty sure my style is starting to develop
I think you should divide the so called "basics" in two groups for better understanding. Anatomy, Perspective, and light/shadow are part of a three dimensional code. Aspects of volumetrics and how we perceive space. Shape, color, composition are strictly from the Bidimensional code. The abstract flat way in which an image is arranged. A yuxtaposition of shapes. You are missing "meaning" as a fundamental: what shapes represent. Shapes have a two-fold nature. What they are and what they represent. We all see the same shape but the meaning might vary from head to head depending on culture and experience. In resume. Style is how you relate shapes to one another and the meanings you assign to these relations. Artists tend to find more attractive or better shape relationships as they practice through time. (yes, there are better shape relationships than others. This is objective) They repeat these relationships in their work until they become recognizable.
