    Sorry for commenting without watching the video, I liked the original design. A lot of tech people (including engineers) don't put a lot of thought or effort into being fashionable. Granted, the design doesn't say much more than "I'm an engineer," but it says that very well.

    This is probably the most helpful character design video I've seen so far. Well done!

    @8:52 I can Honestly say whether through your explanation or conveyed through your art I genuinely already have fallen in love with the concept and want to see more! Great job! It's obvious you know exactly what you are talking about :)

    Not an art designer (unfortunately horrible at any kind of drawing) but found the concept for the video really good, thought it taught some generally great lessons about improvement and the value of listening to critism

    I just skipped through the video to see both designs without the explanation. The first one makes more sense to me. The second one is more unique, but reminds me of that video where Stan Lee was talking to a couple comic book artists as they were designing a new character. The character had so many pouches and buckles and just stuff, that Stan asked "What does he keep in those pouches? Wouldn't they get caught in a fight?" The artist said "Kids like pouches." I look at a character design like that and I see a little girl wearing dad's clothes. Wouldn't that giant jacket get caught on something? She's supposed to be an engineer, but she'd never fit into tight spaces. Could you imagine your mechanic working on your car wearing a fur coat? That's what I see. It's a very current year design.

      I can see that, but issue with first one is that while first one is more grounded, there's nothing gripping in it. While second one delivers on engie with personality who is pretty casual in body movement and silhouette.

      @mikhaelgribkov4117 Kind of looks like what everyone else is doing to me. It's just the "Look at my quirky distopia" thing.

    She’s really fun! Love her ship and the inflatable bodysuit, lots of fun stuff with this design

    Or you can give the character a hard hat with welding goggles, suspenders, mechanical hand with a safety glove on it, and old-timey safety boots. "Practical problems"

  • @Selrisitai
    @Selrisitai 7 дней назад

    The second, Engie, is obviously superior; that said, I think as a character or personality let's say, I'm more drawn to the first girl. Actually, I feel like she and Engie could have a fun relationship. I imagine the first girl as superior in skill. She's reserved and quiet, maybe a little shy. She bites the pencil when she's thinking or when she's nervous or anxious, yet she's not an overly introverted or shy individual. Engie is obviously confident, bold and impetuous. When she gets that wolfish grin, people who know her gear up, get down or head out. When together, Engie, being aware of her skill level being lacking compared to her studious friend, tends to get envious. She's not malicious and doesn't sabotage the other girl, but she shows obvious signs of petulance and may try to shove the conversation along so as not to dwell on the comparison between them. Largely played for laughs, but maybe it comes to a head at some point. On the field, Engie's quick to act, fast to move. She can also do cold reads on likely issues and her gut instinct is usually right, owing to proficient knowledge. Her friend, contrariwise, may not be as quick or intuitive, but her wealth of knowledge means that, given time, she can diagnose just about anything. O.K., I'm done.

    Amazing video! Definitively a huge improvement. I am not sure if you are limited in pages or it makes sense for the exercice but I would love to have another page in the middle to show what she does in with 3-4 drawing. Like let's say it's for a MOBA and I will like to see her ultimate in the center all big and then on the corner some simpler smaller drawing of other stuff she does. 17:55 I can all agree with him especially with this type of art. There are so many talented people but so many times the anatomy is all over the place! Which is just too bad because it could make their art pop a lot more and have a definitive professional feel. (Also I like yours very much and personally the shoulders look fine to me :))
