I have not deep cleaned my stove top and grate for 9 years. Tried all kinds of chemical, baking soda, …. without prevail. Finally I soaked the grate for 48 hrs, and the tar peeled off by itself. Thank you so much for this video.
I tried this method, it worked a little. The only areas i could scrape clean were the areas that were submerged in ammonia. So i poured as much ammonia as i could, (without going into the burners) covered with plastic and waited overnight. worked much better!
Thanks for this! I already used the ammonia and zip lock bag trick to clean the burner grates of my gas rangetop, and it worked a charm. I’m really nervous, however, about doing the procedure you show here because you didn’t specify whether or not you turned off the gas supply before you sealed in the ammonia under the cooktop. It may be a dumb question, but should I be concerned about the two gasses creating a dangerous volatility once the two are mingled under the plastic wrap? I don’t even know if the natural gas is able to leak out from the cooktop even though the burners are turned off. This is a fairly modern range that probably uses electric igniters to turn on the burners, so I don’t even know if it requires a pilot light. I’m pretty uninformed about gas appliances, so I really need to know of any safety procedures I should follow before cleaning the cooktop as you recommend. Thanks in advance for your insight.
Yes this really worked I left it on over night and to my amazement in the morning it was coming off thank you so much as I said nothing else has worked
The before is exactly what a family member’s stove looks like. I’m trying to help her restore/clean it but not even oven cleaner is working😔 I will try this next time I go to her house❤️
I'm going to try this, but, I'm going to wait until the weather permits opening all windows and using my powered air cleaner w charcoal filter (direct exhaust out downwind window). You don't want ammonia fumes (ANY) in a closed up house. Trust me.
Hello, I have another video to easily clean the grills. Easy method. Look up grates in my list of videos, you should be able to find it. Please take a look and let me know if you would try it. Thank you.
@@lovelygrtt perfect! You have such great reviews on this method, I surly can't miss! Thanks so much! ☺️ I reviewed your other uploads and see you have a lot of interesting things! I have subscribed ! Keep them coming!
I hope your stove doesn’t leak gas when the knobs are turned off it it does you have an issue. If you are worried don’t use the stove until it’s bone dry. And turn the gas off when working
Hello, I haven't tried bleach, so I do not know. Sorry about that. However the method I showed is tried and tested . Good luck. Let me know how it goes
If you are going to subject yourself to bleach, you might as well use EASY OFF HEAVY DUTY Oven Cleaner. I've been using it for years and works like a charm and still better than ammonia. I tried ammonia last night, it did remove grease but NOT hard baked on grease. I am still going to need to use Easy Off Oven Cleaner on those areas,
My stove is really bad. Worst actually. A friend of mine left it on while we went to Safeway and was burnt really bad. No matter what I do I couldn’t get it out. That was 8 years ago. I will try this ammonia I really hope it works

Great ! Thank you
I can't wait to try this. Thank you so much 😊. I'm going to do it in the morning before work so I don't have to smell any fumes
+ELAINE FIDELIS You are welcome, let me know how it came out 😀
It worked really well
+ELAINE FIDELIS oh nice ! Thanks for coming back and let me know. Best Wishes to you !
I did this and damn brand new looking stove thank you
a trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Cooper Kane definitely, have been watching on flixzone for years myself :D
I left it soaking for 2 1/2 days, and it worked great! Thank you for the video!
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for the feedback
Wtf that's forever

A properly functioning stove does not leak gas when the burners are off, so you won't have any gases mixing.
If your stove is leaking gas while it is off, you go bigger problems than the ammonia.
Thank you so much for this video. This method does seem the easiest way for insanely cooked-on oils.
+perpetuallylove glad it worked for you !

Great ! Please try this method and let me know if it worked better than the other things that you have tried so far. Hope to hear back from you !
Hi. Should I completely disconnect the gas and electricity before doing this.
Hi, no you don’t have to disconnect anything..it should be fine.
I'm going to try this, but, I'm going to wait until the weather permits opening all windows and using my powered air cleaner w charcoal filter (direct exhaust out downwind window). You don't want ammonia fumes (ANY) in a closed up house. Trust me.
Do you have to turn off the gas supply line or no
Not required, I did not shut off the gas supply line.
Should the grills that you removed be cleaned this way too?
Hello, I have another video to easily clean the grills. Easy method. Look up grates in my list of videos, you should be able to find it. Please take a look and let me know if you would try it. Thank you.
Thank you nice video cant wait to try.
Thanks, let me know if it worked
I need to try this nothing else has worked thank you so much
+Lorraine Cassesso sure ! Let us know how it turned out !
It seems like oil has gotten on the side and front of the stove, too. Could I brush amonia on the sides and do this, too?
you may want to try on a small area first if you were to do it
Do you turn off the pilot lite first?
Wendy Janes did you ever get a response?
Modern stoves don't have pilot lights. They use electric igniters.
Yes, turn it off, I’d recommend you turning the gas off for your stove since it has the pilot.
@@LetsGoFlyers2011 the person is probably talking about an old stove

Does this method damage the surface in any way? Does it etch, scratch or damage the paint in any way? Thank you!
No, it didn't damage mine in anyway. Was fine

Nice video !! But For how many years that stove didn't see any cleaning substance !? 😳
junito1008 Lolol we have the same stove top .. It's super hard to clean .. It gets like that literally in one month... That top is stubborn!
Livelovelaugh so true
please wear gloves and a mask!
Gloves would be nice ,for not damage the skin .But it seems doing the job.
+Ircar47 yes, that's true. Gloves do help
hi where do i get ammonia from pls.
+sujata Fernandes you can get ammonia in any home improvement store or Walmart or in some of your local grocery stores as well
sujata Fernandes And it's really cheap too!
I got mine from Smith Grocery Store
Dollar store
Now my stove top smells like cat piss.
😂😂😂
But its clean! Lol
I laughed way to hard at this😂
😂😂😂
use plastic...
Thank you! This worked a miracle.
+darkhorse43 Glad to hear ! Thanks
Great voice
I'm trying this, thanks!
+Rosalinda Herrera cool ! Let me know how it turned out !
lovelygrtt I sure will
how do I make my stove turn back on it doesn't ignite
You may need to clean the burner holes a bit
+lovelygrtt 👍
I tried this and it really worked. The grease was like iron, baked on and it wiped right off after sitting over night.
Nice! Thanks for the feedback!
lovelygrtt Thank you for the information. I have a property management business and my house cleaner couldn't get the stuff off. Your video saved us.
Was I supposed to read "The grease was like iron" in an Ivan Drago voice? Because I totally read it in an Ivan Drago voice.
The igniter will make the clicking sound.
Have you tried with steam cleaner
Washik does that work
Remove the aluminium components as ammonia damages aluminium.
Oven cleaner on stove top works on burner grates to
Perfect 👌 thank you 🙏
Did you turn the stove off first or no
Covering the top of the open area where the flames can come through could start a fire I think. Ammonia is very toxic. It might be flammable.
It worked great on my stove and just to be safe turn off the gas to your stove b4 you start
I hope your stove doesn’t leak gas when the knobs are turned off it it does you have an issue. If you are worried don’t use the stove until it’s bone dry. And turn the gas off when working
If you do this and flames come through, call the fire department because your house is on fire.
What? No lights in your kitchen? Can't see the outcome of your efforts.
Somebody going to get a hurt real bad....
Best thing is clean your stove after each use .
That’s really true. But hopefully the video will help people who are not used to clean the stove after each use.
R u freaking crazy!!!
Xd I have a cooktop stove so take that
You need a new stove.....
Ur voice is niccce
Thank you so much !
Too toxic😳
Can i use bleach instead?
Please let me know as I want to clean my stove its same as yours

Bleach is not a degreaser

whoever owns that stove should not be allowed to own any more appliances period. Damn thats the worst stove top I have ever seen
then you've never had the good fortune to clean a rental home after an eviction!

My nephew made chicken wings on our stove. My stove looked like this after one use.
You got some really girly looking hands.
