  • Looking at the differences and similarities between these two gloves, along with an important correction on some info about the regular V10 glove I’ve previously talked about.

    When I bought my last set of gear I had the option of the V8 XP. I ordered it (with a +1 pocket) and never looked back.
    Whatever stock Velocity gloves are, have been the same break and build style since the V3 which is in my opinion, an abomination.
    I’ve been in Reddit arguments with Hockey Reviews and a few others that the XP and the Stock velocity gloves are NOT the same break angle and that the XP is very clearly a 590 clone. I used a V4, painfully, for 10 years and the XP break is entirely different.
    At least the Vaughn rep was able to get you on the right track, but that inconsistency with Vaughn information is what is pushing me away from them in general.

      Yeah, the stock definitely felt different, but you’d think Vaughn would put out accurate info on their own products, so I went with what they said… lesson learned I guess.

    Awesome video! Please let us know if there is any difference palm protection between the 2 gloves. Thanks!! I love my old Vaughn XFP glove, best most natural glove ever.

    Thanks for this info. Seems odd or more like they don’t care about wrong info? Going to be looking into getting some new pads and gloves soon, and used Vaughn in the past. But this makes me hesitate

      As much of a Vaughn guy as I’ve been, I’m seriously questioning whether or not I’m gonna stick with them going forward myself.

    That’s a pretty huge mistake by Vaughn. I would buy Vaughn legs but not a catch glove - all based on the break they offer.

    Question: have you found that you need to hold your hand different depending on the gloves?
    I used 580 and 590 koho, rbk, ccm (Lefevre) growing up and Ive been struggling to catch with the vaughn (45?).

    • @L7spider
      @L7spider  2 месяца назад

      You do have to hold it differently depending on where you want the pocket positioned. For me it’s mainly just the feel of my hand in the glove though. A 590 (60°) is the only thing that feels natural to me.

      Thanks for getting back so quick!, I'll keep trying it... I have a hunter shepard set that I don't want to break up.... I'm at the age where I just want to look good for pickup and beer league subbing lol
      Yes very weird glove, and I had no idea what the angle was. Thanks for the video!

    U mentioned u had warrior gloves. Curious why you’d choose Vaughn over warrior. Thanks

    • @L7spider
      @L7spider  5 месяцев назад +1

      I only used the Warrior gloves because I bought a full set of gear to try. The catcher wasn’t bad and I really liked the wrist flexion it provides, but overall I just like Vaughn better. It’s more comfortable and I catch better with the Vaughn.

    This is the second time I have heard Vaughn not adjusting text or measurements for their pants.. etc. and they don't seem to even stand behind their Customers to rectify the situation when a customer is not getting something that is advertised.

    • @L7spider
      @L7spider  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, I have heard other second hand accounts of problems with them. It’s a shame to see as I genuinely like their gear. Seems to be a problem behind the scenes with how they are being run. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    What's your Fav Vaughn pads V7,V8,V9,V10

    • @L7spider
      @L7spider  11 месяцев назад +2

      With the caveat that I reserve the right to possibly bump the V10’s up to #1 with more use, I think I gotta go with V9’s right now. They just felt so good/comfortable on me, even right out of the box. The V10’s are a little more modern and less comfort, but they have been feeling better the more I use it.

      @@MrX-fj9cl correct, I had a few sets of the V7 XF’s. In this case though, the purpose of the the XP glove is not to be more protective per say, it was to offer a different break to appeal to the guys who used the Lefevre 590 style glove in the past. So the XP may stand for something, but I’ve never seen an explanation for it. 🤷🏼‍♂️
