    Feel exactly the same about True. Great review. Sold my set, and got some V10's

    Excellent. True was the pads I thought I wanted when I decided to finally update my gear because it had the look of a velocity pad. I’m glad I ended up just going with a velocity. I just can’t play in stiff pads.

      I do think that if ordered custom in the right specs, these could be very nice, but still probably not better for guys like us than a Velocity pad.
      By the way, it was only recently that I put 2 and 2 together and realized you are Mac Masks. You painted a mask for me some years back.

    I have the 12.2 True pads with Brian’s GN 5 gloves and I’m considering going back to Brian’s Optik 3 after seeing your review. I was worried they be too stiff.

    Yeah that Pines rink is brutal.

    Seems like they thinned the leg pads first they will eventually do it to the gloves

    i have a 7x3 set i do agree that the sliding really sucks i recommend getting this stuff called ice kream it is like a pad lubricant that helps with sliding and that the glove and blocker have too much extra stuff with the upper straps i removed the elastic Velcro and kept the nylon i believe it gave you the same feel without it being as chunky as the wide elastic also i don't really understand how the stiffness makes the pads feel better i previously had a pair of super old Bauer pads that were i think were extremely soft other than that i love the pads and think they're great if you're on a tight budget and want pads that you'll love.

      was thinking on getting the 7x3s coming from a eflex 4 pad. what are your thoughts on the toe bungees?

    • @owenmckinley781
      @owenmckinley781 4 месяца назад

      @@gibburtI used the bungees for a few months than switched to laces because the screws kept falling off and getting loose. It was the best decision I’ve made yet I highly recommend just taking off the bungees obviously keeping them if you snap your lace but the laces give you better a RVH seal your ankles will thank you tremendously and your game will get better so I recommend using laces their are plenty of RUclips videos out there on how to do them

      @@owenmckinley781 sounds good! thanks for the tips. I've also heard mixed feelings on the slide surface of the pad that has been tempting me to switch to a bauer pad. What are your thoughts on the slide and is there a real issue with it?

    • @owenmckinley781
      @owenmckinley781 4 месяца назад

      @@gibburt I won’t lie the sliding surface is pretty rough but strength and proper technique will do you better than relying on the sliding surface if you really like the true pads I’d get this thing called ice kream it’s like a wax/lube you put on the sliding surface to make it slide better

      @@gibburtto add on to what I said once you have them and build up the strength to overcome the decent sliding surface it’s not something to be worried about

    Good review again
    As you said that your playing in south FL, I was wondering if it’s on east or west side ?…..as a Canadian I will spent 3 months on the west coast (Jan,feb,mar 2024) could you give some web site to contact for adult hockey, I am a goalie (60j playing with 40+ guys at any level, looking better on B or less level but even at my age I can move pretty well around the crease, especially with the quick slide of the V9 and new skate without cowlings it’s so easier….Regard’s

      I’m on the east coast unfortunately, so I can’t really be of much help. Sorry.
