Lucifer technically didn’t lie. He had attacked her in the past and the Blade gave her no choice but to use it. He omitted some facts but he didn’t outright lie and I think that is his real rule: No outright lies. And given his reputation, I don’t think any of Lucifer’s siblings would come if he called.

True. Each sentence by itself is not a lie. If someone infers a different meaning in their combination, that's on them.

After a quick Google search on US death rate as my baseline... rough estimation 200,000 people die a day. 139 every minute. I would say that's busy. I would assume the global death rate is higher than the US, so maybe double that? 🤷

That Trump comment at 24:08 was one of Tom's ad libs which he was sure Fox would cut out. He surprised and delighted when they didn't.
The vast majority of Hollywood hates Trump so it doesn't surprise me.
The episode premiered November 14 2016, 6 days after the election.
When the show came to Netflix, that line became an Easter Egg in the last 2 seasons. In one of the Hell rooms you Trump’s face for a second. In the last episode in Lucifer’s therapy room there is a list of people not to allow in “therapy.” If you pause the scene and focus/zoom onto the list there are 5 names you can make out before the rest is covered by the furniture.

(3) Mussolini
(4) Trump
(5) Roger Ailes
Basically the list of people Lucifer will not help get to heaven.
It's not just his revelation that shook Linda to the core. His Devil face has the potential to drive people insane.
Fun Fact: The scene with Ella on her knees "explaining the case" was all Lauren German's idea ( Chloe).
They read the script and Lauren pulled them over& thought it would be funny to add all the physical..erm movements. 😁
Of course it was HER idea. 😁 It always gets me how Lucy puts his hand on Ella's head like instinct hah.
@@captbunnykiller1.0 - apparently, Aimee Garcia (Ella) didn't realize, or pay attention to the fact, that Tom put his hand on her head until after she had viewed the finished episode. She knew what they were doing, just didn't notice where his hand ended up while filming the scene.
At 21:20: No, Lucifer didn't lie. The guy *did* attack her first, when he raped her. She *didn't* have a choice but to wield the blade, because its celestial nature lured her to it. And justice *was* served for what he did.
He wouldn't call Azrael because he doesn't think anyone would come if he did. Remember, he's literally the ultimate outcast of the family. The only reason he has any relationship with Amenadiel is because Amenadiel came to oppose him. Uriel came to oppose him. The whole family basically hates him, as far as he knows. So it'd be like calling a sister who's wanted nothing to do with you for decades... or in this case, 14 billion years 😂
@MPunk you make some very good observations, but you've overlooked one small detail - Lucifer and RaeRae have a good relationship
@@BigJohnLXV Not yet they don't. They repair their relationship later, in the episode where we first meet her; Lucifer, at first, doesn't even understand why she's around LA at that point.

I'm not seeing much of a downside for the people going to Hell.

The real reason they didn't have Lucifer call Azrael is because they hadn't really fleshed out the whole heaven/hell thing just yet, in the writers room. An explanation will be forthcoming.... later.

My favorite part, and there are many to choose from in this episode, is when Lucifer and Linda are back for that first session after the "reveal". Every time we cut to Linda while Lucifer is explaining the sandwich thing with Chloe, her head is in three different "puzzled/wary" positions, while still staring directly at Lucifer each time... before she finally breaks with "...how about Hitler?". I know you had to edit much of that part out for YT, but I still love that whole sequence.
His home is earth ❤😢 he is on earth for just 7 years or so and he already feels more at home than milliennias in heaven with his family before he was outcasted. Humans give him more than the immortals ❤❤❤ that is so sweet and sad at the same time 😊
Of course, he has been to earth many times over the course of human history. This was just the longest he decided to stick around.
The little mannerisms Tom brings tot he role, like the little smile you mentioned, are what really makes the character stand out, to me. It's what makes him human. It's also a bug part of what kept me coming back to this show for more.

I love the Linda and Lucifer sessions in this episode, because who among us wouldn't have a TON of questions like Linda does, after finding out the heaven, hell, angels and the devil is real? I like that the writers didn't have her make up with Maze and then jump right back into therapy with Lucifer as if nothing happened. It makes so much more sense for her to be a bit obsessed with it all and have questions and hound Lucifer for a while before finally being able to pull herself together and get back to counseling him.
Dr. Linda is one of my favorite characters. ❤
BTW, I'm loving the quicker pace you're doing these. When they're too spread out, it's hard to keep track of where you are and what you know and don't know. I sometimes watch multiple reactors in the same series at the same time.
Girl it doesn’t matter how you put it 😩😩 Seeing the devil is absolutely real walking on earth and you been shaking up with him will shock any person to the core. I would think witches more than anyone. The reality of the devil and god would shake a wiccan to the core, the wiccan religion is not Christian. It would be just as world bending and changing as if a Christian were to meet Odin and Thor ie undeniable proof that there entire belief system was wrong...proof not a test of faith but actually irrefutable proof. It is going to destroy you unless the proof happened to prove your own beliefs than I think it would make things easier.

You know, I thought you picked your intro music because it fit so well with the show, but I just watched your Constantine reaction from last year and realized you've had it for a long time. 😅
Coincidentally enough, I don't know if someone's told you, but Lucifer and Constantine come from the same source material, although Constantine greatly departed from the source. Not sure how accurate this show was, for that matter.
Now when a human uses Azrael's blade; is the victim's soul annihilated? If so that would make this episode more _gruesome_ than just 6 or 7 people being murdered.

I do like how Dan comes to the realization that Lucifer is not responsible for the ruin of his marriage with Chloe, though. Dan made choices all on his own, well before Lucifer came into the scene. Let's not forget the year of letting Chloe take on the brunt of the precinct's ire when he was the one who shot Malcolm and could have backed her up and revealed Malcolm as a dirty cop. Anyway, good scene between Lucifer and Dan. 🙂
Great Post, Anna. The part with Ella explaining the crime scene withy LUCIFER was hilarious. And I am laughing my ass off with you saying Give t6hye knife to your sister or Call your sister. Remember, Lucifer cut huis wings off and Amenadiel's have wasted away, he has no wings. And Amenadiel is the only other Supernatural to hear/sense when Lucifer was calling. I don't think communicating with each other is a possibility. But I could be wrong. But that is a good thing. If we knew all of the answers to our questions, then the show wouldn't be that good now, would it? Onto E9. 👍

I think if someone I thought I knew had always claimed to be Lucifer, or Batman, or a dragon polymorphed into human form, as ludicrous as it sounds . . . I would have considered it. I would have thought "WHAT IF he's not as crazy as he seems? And what would I do about it? How would I react to it?" So having considered the possibility, I don't think I would be completely shocked.

Mom, or the Goddess has revealed her plan in general terms. How she attempts to make it happen - well that is the key/twist/question. She seems to have Amenadiel on her side at this point.
I like your predictions. Ella confronts Lucifer in his appartement. When they hug, you say 'Chloe will walk in'. And then the next second, 'bing' the elevator door opens and Chloe enters the room.
Your thoughts on the initial scenes are also very well done. 'Who did know that the blade was burried at that location ?'
I also ensure you that most of your questions will be answered. Maybe not with the next episode, but at least within the complete show.
Justice was kinda done. Mr Glory's murder will not be prosecuted. Firstly she has the self defense claim, also LAPD 'lost' the murder weapon. Without that vital evidence the case will fall apart.
Dont worry about mom's plotting, this show quickly reveals its mysteries and plots... You'll know soon.

I was surprised that NASA was looking for microbes at the Martian equator, instead of our own skies. I did find it funny that NASA was looking for evidence of water at the equator of Mars, and not at the poles, that have ice caps.

I feel like Charlotte, while obviously manipulative, is still upfront about what she wants. She wants her family. But not her husband. I think she wants to reconnect with her children. But still has that animosity with her ex.
Anna, semi-spoiler -- you will meet the goth babe of death. And I too fixated on the damn pocket stripe, though I didn't in the OTA series.
I don't know why you think the Angel of Death would be a good person to give the blade to. I'm deliberately ignoring things we learn later, and just working from the knowledge you have so far. What we know is that Uriel showed up with the blade and a plan to wipe Mom from existence. We don't know what Azrael thought about that, or if she was in on it. We do know that she _didn't_ keep the blade out of the hands of a murderous angel! Even if she's not on team Kill Mom, she's not proven to be a very reliable custodian!
