Actually there are many adults that don't have friends. They'll have work acquaintances and family, but not much else. The friends they had earlier in life just kind of drifted away and never got replaced.
Well said and if you move to other cities or countries, or temporary jobs, it is even hard to have closer friends.
My best friend is pretty much my only friend, and the only reason we’re close is that we used to be married.

Yeah, this has been me for quite a while. I have my wife and kids, my co-workers, and my wife has friends, but no one that I can really call my own friends. Rather depressing at times, but I haven't figured out if it's because I struggle to make friends or if it's because I don't have time to put forth the effort.
Partner, family, and online community..... IRL friends=people I Think I could probably turn to, but haven't talked to in decades 🤷 I know I'd be there if they contacted me out of the blue, and I believe they feel the same, but it's been so long it's hard to reach out 🤷
Fun fact - the actor who plays Chloe's dad in this episode is married to the actress who plays Maze in real life. But he didn't disclose that when he auditioned for this role so that it wouldn't influence the casting decision.
That's right, Anna. The writers of this show can make you laugh one minute, cry the next, then get you angry enough to punch the screen. I've never felt as involved in characters as much as I have the ones in Lucifer . . .
Dan doing impove actually makes sense, it probably helps with undercover work as well
Regarding past friends:
Dan had them, mostly other officers (like Malcolm & Paolucci) who he chose to support over Chloe after Palmetto.
Chloe didn't. She was largely isolated from her coworkers, first from police machismo and then Palmetto. That's why she found Lucifer so valuable as someone on her side. She didn't really get any girl friends before 2x04.
Linda's history is more complicated. We learn some of her back story in 3x07.
Such a good episode:
We learn about Chloe's Dad, Lucifer bonding with Dan and Maze finding her calling on Earth....becoming a Bounty Hunter!!
As noted already, Lucifer does bounce around a lot regarding his feelings. This would be a week later as stated by Lucifer himself "that was last week", so Lucifer is hiding the real feeling again, but still recognizing they are there. Just trying to find other ways to deal with them. His "Dansformation" is just his own self-diagnosing attempt.
But this all does come up again. Lucifer's guilt will come up again later. The warden comes up again later. Different later episodes but they do come back to some things sometimes.
A long-time friend called me once, torn apart when her brother came out of the closet. Didn't know how to deal with it. i asked if he was the same brother she always loved just that now he trusted her enough to reveal a secret about himself. I think I was the only voice in her very Catholic life that asked the question. It helped her a lot.

Let's all pause our "Dansformation" for a moment. 😆🤣 Lucifer's every movement mimicking Dan cracks me up. It's so much fun.
And I join you in sighing in relief when Linda finally opens the door to Maze at the end. Her fear is totally understandable after what she's seen, but I'm glad she didn't let it ruin their friendship. Especially because Maze was actually being earnest and excited about her new bounty hunter job (and isn't that just the perfect career path for Maze? Love that for her).

Lucifer never lies, at least not intentionally, so when he was telling the Russian guy how much he hated "Lucifer" and wanted him dead... that was all true self-hatred 💔
Maze doesn't have a last name, so when she needed one for the job, she just picked Smith.
Also, when Lucifer introduced himself, he says "the name's Dan". He's not specifically saying "his" name is Dan, but since Dan is right there, it's close enough.
Last episode Maze showed her face to Trixie and got a positive reaction, Lucifer showed his face to Linda and she bluescreened.
That John Deckes was a police a little before Dan Espinoza's time as mentioned in 12:47 does match the timelines. Chloe became a police quite quickly after her father's death, It is during his funeral when she punches a paparazzo she decides to be a police officer instead of an actress. LAPD academy is half a year long, adding a bit of time for tests etc so it is possible that the scene when she and Dan meet is only a year after her father's death.
She was 19 when her father was killed, her mother was 22 and her father was 25 when she was born. Chloe was 34 when the show started and her father was only 44 when he was murdered and had been a police officer for around 15 years at that point in time.
Do you realize that this is the first time that Lucifer accepts a hug without backing down?

Chloe not being welcome to cop bars is a thing. They are really isolated from possible friends.
As far as I can tell, Chloe and Dan had their own bunch of friends before this series started. But that was broken up between the separation of Chloe and Dan and the Palmetto Street incident. Ever since then, it hasn't gone back to the way it was. BUT, like others have said, people can go through life without a bunch of friends. Especially police Detectives. Even when they are off of work, they may still be working. AND, look at the possibilities of NEW friends. When someone does something that NOBODY has ever done for you before, it changes you, in a good way. Let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best. Great Post. How do you cope with seeing the devil and a demon? That is more an interesting question. The show sets up this narrative of the supernatural world being real and the creatures called angels and demons are very childlike in how they deal with their own feelings and emotions as they experience life on earth more. That is a tough question to visit. How do we handle knowing the "truth" of the universe if it is revealed to us?
Chloe's dad being on the force wouldn't have needed to be well before Dan's time as a cop. Chloe was adult when she did Hot Tub Time Machine, I think they may have said around 18 or 19, maybe early 20s (old enough at least to do a topless scene) which is when her dad died . She left acting and became a cop not long after; though I don't believe they ever said how soon after, presumably it wasn't that long; maybe a year or two. Trixie would have been around 9 or 10 in season 2. Her established age might have been a little younger, but going off the actor's age, that flash back would have been 10+ years prior, since it was when Chloe and Dan first met. That would put her somewhere in her 20s when she started at the precinct. Even if we used Lauren's real age of 39 in season 2 (20217) as Chloe's age, making her at most 29 when she joined the force. But they didn't have Trixie the next day, all of which means Papa Decker died less than a decade prior, conceivably just 6 or 7 years prior, if that; depending on how soon after his death Chloe left acting, and how long after Chloe and Dan met that they had Trixie....

Thoughts about Lucifer not being so despondent at the start of the ep. My opinion: he goes through lots of emotions, etc but tries to trivialize them and bury them as quickly as possible...
I think he's still very much broken. So much in fact, he thinks he needs to be another person in order to not hurt people. If that doesn't scream broken...
She's definitely getting addicted to watching Lucifer

well, it might surprise you, but many people dont have friends... not even pals. that is a thing. i do have many pals and friends and close friends, but i am an extrovert, so i can connect with people really easy.. but i personally know people who had for many years a person they would go out watch a movie or walk in the mal.

Great insights in the intro even before watching majority if the series.
At the start if tbe series i made a comment about chloe having 2 chips on her shoulders. Palmetto/end if season 1 removed the first. This is the removal of the second .
Almost said other characters chips but it would have spoiled the progression of both amenidiel and Dan.
Its always funny how Luci reacts to trixie's attempts at hugs, because she actually believes him and wants to hug her pet devil.
Fun fact: "John Decker" is the real life husband of "Maze"
Dan not having friends makes sense to me - corrupt cop who is kinda on the straight and narrow. He wouldn't want to hang out with people he knew while doing messed up things, and a lot of people likely would be unwilling to risk making a connection w a guy w a shady past.
Chloe makes a little less sense, unless you consider the shooting she was involved w, though after Malcolm went pyscho you'd think more ppl would be willing to hang out w her. But like you said, extra characters are kinda hard to justify the cost for in a show like this
Chloe makes sense if you consider that her true passions are solving crimes and Trixie. It's like anyone that puts so much into them that it's almost like blinders to everything else.

When Lucifer was walking Chloe to the door, he mentioned Trixie being out when telling her to open a bottle “or three” of wine. People watching a show for the first time miss those clues, and why many Lucifer fans stress the importance of listening to the dialogue, particularly for understanding future events. Just an observation - you are a lot of fun and I enjoy your channel (I would prefer also watching your full reactions on Patreon, but the synchronization is too problematic.)

My world actually shattered when I saw Tom put out his cancellation tweet. Lucifer is by far and large my second favorite show (Good omens being 1), and everything about it is... perfect. The casting... Plotlines... It was just fun. My quite catholic mom started watching it last year, and she LOVES it. It's just fun.
Also yes. Imagine being atheist/agnostic... and then coming face to face with the realization that heaven and hell and demons and angels do actually exist. To know that your choices in life truly do matter in the end... Yeah that changes EVERYTHING imo. Especially as an agnostic myself
If the existence or non-existence of heaven and hell actually makes such a big difference to your life, you may want to think about how good of a human being you truly are. Leaving aside some of the idiotically contradicting rules that religions have added / reinterpreted over time (like that you'd have to believe in God to go to heaven and otherwise go to hell), the essence of "good" and "bad" isn't really influenced by religion. Religion only introduces a final punishment for bad behaviour and reward for good behaviour. But if that punishment / reward is the only reason for you to decide for the morally good option, you aren't really a good person.
I'd think the (much) bigger shock would be the existence of an actual devil and angels, as well as the fact that you've slept with that devil who knows how often and been friends with a demon.
@lukasr5867 even when I was catholic, I couldn't bring myself to believe that, even if someone was a good person their whole life, but they didn't believe in in god... then it was a 100% hell thing.
Hearing my confirmation teacher say that, even the guy with the tiny middle mustache who killed a lot of people in the 1930s/1940s could have gone to heaven, if he was truly sorry for what he did, then he could enter the gates (even after the big no-no of ending your own life...)... that was my "yeah no that is WAY too fucked up. I'm done." Moment

Your perception is quite good. I wasnt able to read the name on Mazes paycheck, Mrs. Mazikeen Smith. But I remember one episode of season 3, it's named "Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith". If you like Maze, you will love that episode ! The writers of Lucifer have done an impressive job. Some episodes are clearly dedicated to a side character, e.g. Dr. Linda, Trixie, Maze or Ella. This makes their characters more plausible. These episodes are also a very good way to get some important info about their backgrounds. For example, Dan has a close friend, his name is Carol.
Anna, a lot of good episodes are ahead of you. Please enjoy each each of them. Dont push yourself too hard, we are patient to await your next video.
"Please enjoy each of them" - after you've already told her a bunch of stuff she'd likely enjoy to find out in the appropriate episodes ... That's called spoilers and really takes the fun out of watching something for most people. So if you truly want them to have fun, don't talk about future episodes!

I would rather revert the argument on you. Let's think that I say that Dan had no life before meeting Lucifer. THAT would be a real spoiler, indicating that Dan is some celestial being but not a human.
- I state that there will be episodes which focus the side characters. Every person that is none dumb knows that a show with 6 seasons just focussing on Lucifer and Chloe would become very boring very fast. I think I also remeber that Anna herself stated that the show Lucifer is also giving other characters a chance of a valid character development rather than only Lucifer and Chloe. So supporting Anna and renewing one of her thoughts is called 'Spoiling' ? It's not, it's just nonsense.
- In episode 2x05, there was a huge discussion among the characters how to interpret the words of God or at least his symbols. Lucifer made very clear that no one REALLY knows Gods intention. So Anna did not say a word but you are interpreting her unspoken words in your way. A real fan of the show wouldnt have gone down such a path of failure. So until you bring up any evidence that you are an official spokesperson of Anna, please never try to silence me again !!!

If you want to accuse people of stalking and harrassing you in YT-comments, best create some written evidence (i.e. copy-paste usernames and comments or create screenshots thereof), so that in the future you can compare them and verify whether it's the same user or not. It feels rather rude that 2/6 of your points are based on this false memory, accusing me of stuff I didn't do.

Now that that's out of the way, let's go through your actual arguments:
a) "I state that Dan ..." - How do you know that Dan has such a friend? I suspect the answer is, that you've seen future episodes where this friend appears or is mentioned in some way. If that is the case, you are spoiling (part of) the content of that future episode. Sure, everyone on earth had a live before meeting Lucifer (well, except Lucifer himself, I guess), and I wouldn't consider that a spoiler. But specifying details of that life, that are only revealed in later episodes, IS a spoiler (Everybody had some sort of life and some kind of friends in their past, not everybody had that specific friend).
b) "I state that there will be episodes ..." - True, that's not a spoiler, and I never called it such. However, right before that, you explicitly named a future episode and hinted at it's plot in a way that I'd consider at least borderline spoilery.
c) I'm not interpreting any spoken or unspoken words here or try to speak on behalf of Anna or anyone else. Whatsoever gave you that impression? I'm also not trying to silence you. All I did was point out the contradiction between your wish for her to enjoy the future episodes on one side and all your hints and information about what is going to happen in those future episodes on the other. Most people get more fun out of a story, if they can fully experience it for themselves and don't get the best parts pointed out for them in advance. I presume that Anna is part of that group of people. If that presumption is accurate, you are yourself working against your own wish coming true.
Consider the example of a pedestrian crossing. My original answer to your comment was not a prohibition like "you must not cross while the light is red", but rather a warning like "careful, the light is red, it's dangerous to cross now".
So I'm not trying to impose any authority over you or your comments on this channel, but merely inform you that given your wish for Anna to enjoy herself, you may not be going about it in the best way.
d) "Quote '...don't talk..." - If you take parts of sentences out of context, they can indeed sound rude or otherwise wrong. People often do so to misrepresent their (supposed) opponents and show themselves in a better light. I hope that's not the case here. If it was an honest mistake in your reading comprehension, let's have another look at that sentence in its entirety: "So if you truly want them to have fun, don't talk about future episodes!" This is a conditional sentence, not an order. I'm not telling (or asking) you to do something. I'm informing you how to best go forwards to achive your goal / get your wish. If you want A to happen, do B.

Taking such a condescending tone when the entire argument is built on assumptions is usually rather unwise, as there is a good chance (some of) your assumptions turn out wrong and you end up looking rather unpleasant (like in this instance).
With all that said, let me close like this: Opposite to your assumptions I am here because I enjoy Lucifer and I enjoy watching others discover this show. As such, I'd love for these reactors to be able to continue to discover the show and not be told stuff in advance. Only a couple of days ago I watched another reactor, where a comment spoiled a major plot point and took a lot of suspense from the next two episodes, which neither the reactor nor the other viewers were happy about. Your original comment was far from any such "big" spoiler, but such little hints can be the start of a slippery slope. Which is why it's considered part of the general etiquette in reaction channel comments to simply not talk about future episodes at all.

Not really. At the time, he was fully "learning to Douche, taking a walk in someone else's shoes". He was fully taking on Dan's identity to avoid being himself. So it's a technical lie, but in the moment it felt true enough to him.

As others said, Lucifer didn't technically lie. Dan was right there, and he didn't say "Dan" was "his" name. Lucifer skirts the truth by not always telling the whole truth many times. Something that does come up later.

There is actually a reason that Lucifer seems to flip from overwhelming grief last episode to his usual self this episode. It's a creative tool called: "Bad Writing." 😉
Angels and demons really have no interest in humanity. It all about following the word of God.
