Straight up. This album defined 7th Grade for me. Everyone was bumping Mase and Diddy while I was like, "Y'all can have that nonsense" lol. This is such a special album to me.
Not just one of the greatest Premo beats and Gangstarr songs, but also one of the best hip hop songs of all time. And also one of the greatest feature verses of all time as well.

That rockstar line has been sampled so much by other artists like non phixion for starters....

Just wanted to say thanks for giving us Moment of Truth. I'll be turning 40 this year and the album has been with me for more than 20 years. It truly is one of those rare complete albums.

I can't even express how much I love this series and everything you're doing premo. This literally makes my day when it drops and I look forward to every episode. Above The Clouds always gets my head bobbing, it's legitimately one of the best tracks in hip-hop never mind the Gang Starr discography. Never stop being so ill. Peace from the UK!
Why isn’t GURU ever discussed as one of the best yet? It’s mostly the voice that gets you up..
There were so many good artists in that time period some names slip through the cracks.
The Wu Tang Clan by itself has names that would spark an argument about who is the best MC in that group.
I'm not one for top 10 MC list, it's all subjective and personal taste.
I have a top 1 list Rakim, his flow and rhymes was one of the sparks that set off the Golden Age of Hip Hop.

I'm glad Deck was on this instead of Rae and Ghost. Deck had less tracks with production at this level and totally deserved to be on this one.
Easily my favorite Gang Starr record, possibly my favorite hip hop record ever. In my opinion, it's got Premier and Guru at their artistic best.

If you grew up skating in the 90's, then you know that this song was used in Steve Olson's part in Shorty's "Fulfill The Dream" video. Such an iconic video in skateboarding history laced with an equally iconic soundtrack. I was like 12 when I saw the video and heard this song for the first time..ive been a fan ever since.
Emotional. I used the JFK speach in a radio imaging production i did for my late friend Buck Matyila. I heard tha speech in this song n always wanted to use it. Guru is in my top 5. I just got emotional hearing this. RIP
