Great photo shots of trains from a bygone area! If it wasent for the effert of those who love trains, they would all be in train heaven and only a memoy and a few forgotten photographs!
So true. Today's 2 mile trains are awesome and high tech with mid train and pusher engines. But nothing visually like here. Class I steam is very rare. High balling, double heading too. This is as good as it gets today. Thanks.
No pictures from me, I was playing chauffeur that day. My two traveling companions did take some photos, but I don't believe they are publicly available.
I think that #2926 and or #3751 should go to the Grand Canyon Railway more often. Maybe not have an excursion between Albequreque or Los Angeles to Williams, but deliver them there and then have the excursions on the GCR.
Grand Canyon RR, bought and operating with replacement management, did not run steam at all for a few seasons. Now they operate steam on ocasion. See their site for the 2012 steam schedule. They also use modern diesels. The 1st gen alcos are not run at all. Thanks for asking.

Thanks. I hated this set up. This was shot from an overpass on I-40. I agree it came out OK. Road noise is awful. Grand Canyon Railway is quite sensitive about visiting the shops (trespassing) except on uncommon tours. The photographers seen in my shot along the ROW north of the shops will normally be escorted out of that spot.
