    I've been practicing since I was 15 (ish) I'm 22 now but I've never been to a traditional "initiation" simply being i live in a rural area where the only other people are either Christian or atheist. (With a handful of Jewish people in the next town over) the only other person who identifies as wiccan is an elderly woman who used to be my towns librarian. She guided me about different paths and how practicing alone is perfectly okay. Its good to have a solid teacher you trust. But it's also perfectly okay to be eclectic and learn from many to go towards a path right for you. As long as you show dedication and respect for the faith. Always try to work on growing to better yourself.

    Being initiated sounds lovely. Unfortunately I don’t know any Wiccans just now for this to happen. Will try to keep enjoying the craft and spiritual journey.

    How do I find a group of people to practice with? I would like to be part of a collective, but I can't find anyone.

  • @dazknight9326
    @dazknight9326 9 лет назад +5

    Well, one misses the greater experiences with others in the craft, and more oppurtunity to grow with meets, etc. Essentially, it is for groups.
    I was iniated by a High Priestess.
    The experiences the person misses from gatherings, energy, sabbats, etc are truely sad for solitary.
    If one stays on it for a year and a day, the divine know. But the hidden treasures, sometimes found from a group going out to take pics of Faeries, or ghost hunts, are experinces that make it fun, and you stronger.

    I don't believe you have to be initiated. Spirituality should not be a club. Then it becomes religion, and religion is flawed.

    • @to-ur1ri
      @to-ur1ri 8 лет назад +1

      Well, in Catholicism/Christianity, people are baptised and then they're part of the whole thing. And, spirituality is the all-round building block for religion, so you can't say that spirituality isn't religion and religion isn't spirituality.

    • @cnano98
      @cnano98 8 лет назад +3

      Religion is a way for people with similar spiritualties to communicate their beliefs and issues and seek or provide guidance. Social people generally require a religion, whereas more solitary people are generally better off with their own beliefs.

    • @gillyS0L3
      @gillyS0L3 6 лет назад

      I agree with the sentiment of your statement but I must add that not "being initiated" but initiate yourself, the thought process behind it, the meanings she described, I think that has its merits.

      What a warped perception you have. Initiation has to happen in any religion. In any spiritual practice really. Otherwise you're just taking courses to benefit the ego. To be initiate you learn things you have community you have structure. These mellinials believe religion is bad only because of the bad wrap it gets. And people make it flawed not religion itself

      Nobody. The first witches recorded in history have been solitaries. The whole idea of covens of witches gathering together to practice came much later and it was but a myth at the beginning.

      You're confusing witchcraft with Wicca. This video is about the religion Wicca. Being a witch doesn't require an initiation, but religions often do.

    • @jkl5712
      @jkl5712 Год назад +1

      I don't disagree, but Wicca was founded by Gardner, no Wiccan initiated him. Those he claimed initiated him were Not Wiccan, and if they were, then What he taught as Wicca was not Wicca, because he added things from Thelema, Masonry etc. And was sworn not to teach what he had learned from them. But yes, if one wishes to belong to Gardnerian Wicca, they have to become initiated, as it's an initiatory religion.

      @@Alex-zl5ht Shaman is kind of a loaded term in the community. It's a specific term with a different meaning than the word witch that has it's own place within indiginess culture. There is some controversy with white pagans appropriating shamanism.

    • @kaimiauriela1721
      @kaimiauriela1721 9 лет назад +3

      +Shining Hawkstar If the Buddha is not a god, then why do people worship him?
      There are different types of worship. When someone worships a god, they praise and honor him or her, make offerings and ask for favors, believing that the god will hear their praise, receive their offerings and answer their prayers. Buddhists do not indulge in this kind of worship. The other kind of worship is when we show respect to someone or something we admire. When a teacher walks into the room we stand up, when we meet a dignitary we shake their hand, when the national anthem is played we salute. These are all gestures of respect and worship and indicate our admiration for certain persons or things. This is the type of worship Buddhists practice. A statue of the Buddha with its hands rested gently in its lap and its compassionate smile reminds us to strive to develop peace and love within ourselves. The perfume of incense reminds us of the pervading influence of virtue, the lamp reminds us of the light of knowledge and the flowers which soon fade and die, remind us of impermanence. When we bow, we express outwardly what we feel inwardly; our gratitude to the Buddha for what his teachings have given us. This is the nature of Buddhist worship.

    There is no puzzle to a true Believer, only to those who refuse to accept the One true GOD, Jesus Christ. satan has his own religion, and every religion that denounces the True Christ belongs to him. No negative comments will be responded to, just to let you know. I'm just offering to share some Truth with you, just like Ben did....and if you refuse to accept it, that is your choice.
    John 3:16 For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe on Him will receive everlasting LIFE.

      @NightsDestiny42 10 лет назад +14

      I would like to know why your mind is so closed to the idea of other beliefs? Not every religion is correct and not every religion is wrong either. It is a matter of belief. You Christians believe that Jesus loved everyone and accepted them no matter who they were. Why should you act any different?

      lol seriously why do you even try? wiccans that watch this video and read your pathetic comments just sit behind their screen and laugh. get over yourself. literally nobody takes you seriously when you're trying to brainwash people as you have been brainwashed.

    • @cnano98
      @cnano98 8 лет назад +5

      I respect your right to believe what you believe, but that respect ends when you try to convert people. I'm not denouncing anyone or anything, I just simply don't believe they exist, or at least that they aren't who you say they are. We can all respect each others' beliefs without causing any harm to each other.
      Just so we're clear, Wiccans don't believe in Satan, so you trying to scare us into converting to Christianity means nothing. Satan may be something you believe in and are scared of, but to us that's all it is -- a scare tactic.
