"With infinite universes everything that can be possible will happen somewhere" A common proposition, but false. It could be that there are infinite universes and all of them except this one contain nothing but landed vikings.
@@allmhuran Wrong. The proposition is only false if and only if this universe or universes of nothing but landed vikings are possible. I think this was the best Iodis-episode so far and I ve seen them all. Holy crap what a slaughterfest. And really nice effort with the stalker-blink-into-base-presentation.
That moment at 20:18 is probably the most beautiful scene in SC2 I've seen lately. Also, new idea for BGWSS - mass vigings. This terran did it in this game so you can too, heh
That would basically be a slimmed down version of uThermals penguin brothers strategy (marauders+landed vikings) that he got well into grand master with :)
7:35 Here's a useful piece of knowledge to have for situations like this. You can fit units behind most mineral lines and the planetary doesn't reach them. Even after the bunker is up, he could have put 3-5 stalkers behind the nat mineral line (shift clicking around the outside of the nat to avoid the planetary) and shift held position. He could deny mining for at least a minute because the 3 marines the Terran had couldn't do anything to the stalkers. You can also do this with roaches, hydras, marines, etc.
It's like every single video, the editing gets better and better. Hamster takes quality Harstem content and keeps kicking it up a notch. And Harstem keep killing me with the metaphors as always. Nice video guys!
I would love to see one of those takeover episodes where Harstem has to play from the Terran's position around 4:00 with the three marines and see if it really is impossible to hold a properly timed blink stalker attack
I just had ptsd flashbacks after this IODIS - couple years back when I was active in mm, I faced this build (as zerg, d3) and have to say - this is one of the most demoralizing builds to lose to, way more than more common cheeses like cannon rush because those are usually over quickly. With this one, you KNOW that what your opponent is doing is suboptimal, and it should not work, but for some reason you just cannot break them - especially if it's your first time playing against it and you're trying to think of a counter on the fly. For me, the solution was to get BLs with Viper parasitic bomb for protection, but I had a brainfart and tried every other useless comp before coming to it, so by the time I was breaking my opponent, I was quite all in with my army. And as my opponent was about to be fully broken, they snuck in some mines under my BLs when I didn't pay attention, I lost my army, and hence the game. The silver lining is, now I know what to do if I ever come back to active play and face this strat. The bad thing is, fighting back and forth for 40 mins against something u know is incorrect and still losing is just so frustrating that I still remember that game to this day.
I lost to mass mine viking at around 3K MMR when I was playing protoss once, was also super demoralizing. At first it was just mass mines and I started making lots of colossus and crushing it, and was happy thinking to myself my opponent is an idiot. But then I couldn't do much when attacking him because he was turtling with double planetaries and tanks behind them so I went home and started going into greed mode. After a while mass mines with mass vikings start coming in and suddenly I start losing huge chungs of army. I was on 7-8 Colossus with mass Stalker and I would've thought that was enough to stop any mines from coming anywhere close but nope, he had such huge mass of them that still enough of them get close to blow large chunks of my army away on top of Vikings killing off my colossus. Then I started added storms to that while remaking colosus and stalker too and he just keeps coming and coming and I just don't do enough damage to mines before enough of them come over and burrow in my face. Eventually I just ragequit and didn't want to play protoss again for months after that. :D In retrospect I think I should've been adding sentries and just stopped those mines with forcefields, oh well, derp.. I think that guy was probably a smurf account because he was macroing like a champ with it, expanding all over the map with mass planetaries turrets everywhere. He really was good at producing tons of mine viking fast.
The moment I saw the observerS retreating with the rest of the army and the distruptor shot clearly going over the mines 100% ignoring them, I knew this guy got into platinum by A moving only.
This game was pretty hilarious. 5 adepts would have won the game early - planetary can't hit them if they're standing behind minerals, can deny mining and kill all the SCVs
I like how 10 mines burrow right in front of him. He moves his stalkers backwards 2 pixels. The mines shoot and 1 shot all his stalkers. It's like he thinks mines are stalkers that can burrow to hide. He looks surprised that they shoot from underground. He looks like he doesn't understand what shot him.
@@Dragon-Believer yeah, so funny! It's like, he recognized he should move back, but didn't move far enough. Also, losing your whole army to a widow mine bum rush is hilarious. I'm shocked this is happening in Plat

They aren't good, but they are fun. I go mass vikings every once in awhile, especially in team battles.
