Dude with a strange accent in a tuxedo with a cape lives in the most decrepit house ever by himself, calls wolves “children of the night”, and this guy is like, “nah this is a good idea.”
So funny that those were supposed to make the castle seem 'creepy' and 'strange' when their presence is a totally regular occurrence in some places. I live on the east coast, and I see them digging around for food at night all the time!
I wonder if in the movie’s version of the lore, since they are depicted as “creatures of the night”, this means Dracula can transform into an armadillo?

Classic horror movie from 1931. Over 90 years old now. Wow. Rip Bela Lugosi. Great actor and one of the kings of horror movies. Thanks for posting this.🦇

This isn't Jonathan in this adaptation; it's Renfield. I don't know why they made Renfield the solicitor for this instead of Jonathan but there you go.
I watched an anime comedy about a vampire who has an armadillo pet called John. I thought it was a wacky 'random' thing, but now I understand it's a reference.
Dracula looked so goofy in that movie. Here in this film he looks like how I would imagine...suave, sophisticated, yet deadly. In that movie he looks like a George Washington zombie.
I like how there are 6 or 7 red flags in this scene alone and Renfield ignores every one of them

He literally saw his driver turn to a bat. Surprised a little bit, then continue like usual.
hes being drawn in subconsciously that's how he ended up there in the first place, Dracula has a type of, persuasion
Dracula offers Renfield a drink and not pouring himself a drink.

There aren't any armadillos in Romania, but there ARE porcupines, bears and wolves.

“Listen to them, children of the night. What music they make!” That’s stuck with me for so many years. Dracula will always be in a league of it’s own.
He sounds better then new Dracula in Bram stoker Dracula film. I think Bela lagosi better than the character in New Bram stoker Dracula.
In the movie "Ed Wood", Lugosi uses the same line in referring to his chihuahuas.
Book-accurate line too. I love it!

A true classic.

I like that old trans-atlantic accent. ^^

Still to this very day , @0:05 is the greatest looking visual shot of any Draculas castle of any movie ❤
Dracula`s entrance must have terrified audiences in 1931! Still chilling after all these years.
Apparently they have armadillos in Transilvania...wait a minute!
Apparently, the censors thought that rats and such would be too graphic for audiences so they brought in armadillos and a possum lol
Perhaps one of the Brides was actually American and had pet armadillos before she got turned.
And in another scene, it looks like Dracula keeps possums in the cellar.
So random. Really did not get that.
@@delavalmilkerIt may have been a smart idea, Possum's feed on ticks and eat snakes and mice, so no wonder you never saw mice in Dracula's pad lol.
I wouldn’t go into that castle with less than a platoon.
"Ah, fresh victims for my ever-growing army of the undead;"
"Sir, you have to let go of that button."
"OH, SON OF A...!!"
Bela did creepy better than anybody!
A total classic. 🦇🦇🦇.

POV: you’re here after watching the new Renfield movie.
90 years they stayed together, I can only imagine all the fancy parties they attended nights on the town, all the fights in every county in Europe Renfield protecting his master and maybe even falling deeply in love with eachother. While the count's brides get a big shove off to the far right.
Armadillos in Transylvania? In another scene, we also see that Dracula keeps possums in the basement.
Blame that one on a lack of much of a budget
At this point I would be running down the hill like the hill like the clappers.
“The blood is the life Mr. Renfield.”
Awesome
Dracula has such an accent, well he lives in Transylvania, that’s in Romania. Spooky!
The Count should hug Jonathan since he was tired all way journey 🤗

I love Dracula 👻
I like how nobody’s talking about Renfield 2024 because it had the opening scenes of the original film
1:44 Where did the armadillos come from? There’s no armadillos in Romania.

Every single person in this movie is dead. Think about that for a second.
To die...to be really dead...that must be glorious!
Undead.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the set, was it purpose build or filmed on location, its extraordinary!
In those days they used scene painters to paint giant backgrounds.
The interior of the castle was a set but the outside was a glass painting
Just built on he Universal lot!
Seeing an American armadillo in a Romanian castle is creepy. He should have left then! 😂
1931
Why armadillos?
I think a lot of audiences would've seen them as exotic and strange, like how they used a hyena in nosferatu
I watched an anime comedy about a vampire who has an armadillo pet called John. I thought it was a wacky 'random' thing, but now I understand it's a reference.
Literally Iorn man before Iorn Man
Dracula does have a very creepy haunted castle in Transylvania.
Vincent: hello I’m Vincent Alvarado what’s your name.
Count Dracula: I am Dracula Vincent Alvarado and it’s nice to meet you.
Armadillos? What are armadillos doing there?! Not even slightly scary...
Personally I think the scariest thing about it could be that Dracula (or perhaps his brides) haven't been confined to Transylvania.
Bloodborne's Castle Cainhurst anyone?
I swear i was about to write the same thing.
Now my day is ruined
Does anyone know if this locket that Dracula wears has any meaning?
what's with the armadillos
Transylvania might be a haunting and creepy place in Romania, but I don’t believe in vampires. 🧛🏻♂️🦇⚰️🩸🇷🇴
