    People normally think of Dracula as rotten to the core n unsympathetically evil. But this line about true death being glorious adds a dimension to Dracula's character. Maybe deep down inside, he resents his immortality n sees it as a curse

    • @olegslapins8156

      People normally think that because he is rotten and absolutely evil. Bram Stoker wrote his character exactly that.

      @@olegslapins8156 Yes, but only because vampirism itself influences them. The curse in of itself in unholy, even in the book Mina asked the gang to pity the Count for the exact thing Jacky brought up.

      @cw3le 10 месяцев назад +7

      I think he does see it as a curse, but the one which can end only by his true death, which is not really an option you would look forward to. He seems to me more selfish than evil, kills in order to survive, not for pleasure. But even that depends on the way how he is portrayed in the movie - somewhere he is just an evil being who kills both for the need and for the pleasure.

    • @goldsmith2459
      @goldsmith2459 7 месяцев назад +1

      He is an evil man that selfishly destroys others to prolong his life unnaturally, because he lives in fear of the judgement for his evil doings he will meet after death. He wants a cowardly escape from his wrongdoings, erasure, because he is in fear of any consequences for his actions he will face in the world after. He desires to truly die, because he is a coward. It's part of why the crucifix is so effective against him, it is an in his face reminder of what is to come after he dies.

    It's a shame that the top hat, gloves, cane, cape, suit and tails was THE most elegant clothes a man could wear around a hundred years ago.
    After this movie, it's just seen as, "the dracula costume" when in fact it was just what he wore, to appear as a very rich gentleman.
    The whole suit is still the epitome of elegance, but if you ad the cape........people think you're just dressing up as dracula.
    So sad, as the cape is the crowning jewel of the suit!
    Whether it is red, white, cream or black lining on the inside, it looks AWESOME!!
