- Hi there my lovelies! I have been wanting to get this project going for so long and I'm finally getting there! I spent hours on Pinterest trying to find inspiration for a diy craft table and I finally found one! I spent a little bit under $125, which was more than I wanted to spend, but it was the easiest and fastest way for me to get it going.
My brother in law works at a mill and he was able to get me a 4x8x1 sheet of maple plywood. He told me these go for about $100, but I paid $10! He was able to get it for $7, but I didn't have smaller bills haha so I told him to keep the change for his troubles lol. My coworker was able to help me cut it down to the dimensions I needed and I had enough left over for 4 shelves! Not a bad deal at all.
The cube storage units were $33 and change at walmart and the self adhesive faux marble tiles were $0.88 per sq ft at Home Depot.
Thank you guys so much for watching! If you haven't already, don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell so you don't miss any future projects!
THERE IS A FINAL REVEAL OF THIS CRAFT SPACE IN A SECOND VIDEO HERE:
It will answer all your questions and thoughts of how it wouldn't be functional for some people. Plain and simple because it's not in your house lol, but most importantly it shows why it is PERFECT for my space. Whether I have to crawl, duck, bend, reach, contort or whatever to get to the cubbies in the back :) :)

Araceli Chan great job. BUT how will you get to your storage nooks.

Araceli Chan I absolutely love this..trying to play catch up and don't want to jump ahead and ruin it by watching in the wrong order, call me crazy but I love watching the progress and the end result where it was all worth the hard work you put in...so off to find which video is next!! Love this so far! Sending Good Vibes Always!!
I used the same idea, except with my 4 little ones all now in school I couldn't afford the shelving units, so I just looked online at various places (ie Craigslist, online free garage sales, etc.) and got milk crates, spray painted them white, and drilled them together to make shelves, and shelf liner on the back side of them to make it look more professional. And same as you, a large piece of wooden board to for as desk top. sanded and also painted white and I had six crates left over so I screwed them to my wall as crate shelves after spray painting them metallic gold, my craft room colors are white and gold, so it looks wonderful. My husband loves it for storing his extra things that need to be away from the kids reach, my kids love it for school work, and i love that it's one room for my while family to use and safe for my children. And it's all because of you and this AMAZING idea, thank you so much. Your newest subscriber, Christa
Thanks so much for the love Christa! That was an awesome idea to use milk crates and I bet it turned out great! I'm really happy that you found a way to make it your own. I think some people are missing that concept....you can be inspired by it and do it to what fits your needs. You're a sweetheart, thank you for the support : )
I have a pile of milk crates trying to build something with them.. I like the idea of stacking them and spreading apart then adding wood or glass for the table tops
Ms. Araceli,
Once again you've blown my mind 👍 (I'm am not some crazy RUclips stalker promise) ever since I found your channel I am obsessed with you and your amazing ideas. As a single mother of 3 boys I'm on a budget and need cool ideas for #1 extra space and #2 an outlet for me to "try" to be crafty. I think your so down to earth and you explain things so the not so crafty (me) person can feel as though it do-able. I once again give you props for being AWESOME. And I am super stoked I found your channel. You rock momma.
I love this! My daughter is getting married , so I will soon have a room that I’d like to make a craft / guest room. This is a great idea, as it would help keep my craft area looking neat 😊 Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Araceli, what a fantastic job! So nice to have relatives in high places to obtain that board for $10.00! What a bargain! Your arrangement was spectucular! What a great job!! 👍👍
I just put one together almost exactly according to your suggestion. I tried to nail on the support squares but after beating up my fingers I went to the big box and purchased some small screws. thank you for the inspiration. btw, I'm 6'3 and bending under is a challenge BUT so is walking upstairs and to the attic looking for something.
Hi there!! Just found this video and love it love it!!! I am a crafter/sewer/photographer and empty nester so trying to get my supplies organized. Love this so much. I appreciate the details. And to all the comments.... you do you but for Gods sake why judge. Didn’t your mama teach you I’d you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Best craft table I have found that I can actually do myself.
I love that! Remodeling after Hurricane Harvey. That's an idea for me to consider in my craft room!!!! Thanks!!!
You can put a floor lamp in that corner then you'll have a light over your craft area that's not taking up the space on top of the craft table
Melissa Dingee that's a great idea... the only thing is that if I do that, the top would have to be pulled out. As of right now that corner has to be covered to fit in that space
IKEA sells cords that can be plugged in then hung from the ceiling to make a hanging lamp. You buy the pieces separately so it can be customized with whatever lamp shade you want from there. Tip: be sure to check that the cord has the built in on/off switch. IKEA sells with and without. They come in black or in white and the kit comes with the hooks to screw into the ceiling. I have matching ones over my nightstands that look good and do not take up tabletop space.
I was going to say that empty corner space could be used for like wrapping paper or something...
Yea...unfortunately although it's empty space, it's also covered by the top so there is no access to it.
I am actually working on an idea for a lamp. I do have one of those cords that I intended to use for my wedding with a paper lantern, but i never did. Soooo, I will be using it very soon :)
The end result is just beautiful and I'm sure it's going to be super functional to store all your craft supplies! 💕
Thanks so much girl!
Can't wait to see it all filled up! Good job and those back cubbies are perfect for things you don't need often....kind of "hidden storage"....
Nancy Wiltshire thank you Nancy! I'm glad you get it! Lol getting real tired of people making this more complicated than it should be
Wow thank you for a great Craft room table idea. My craft room is small & half is used as a guest room too. Great storage space idea. 👍👍👍👍
+TrulyYoursJulez thanks so much! Yea we can make it work somehow! :)
Thank you so much for this video!! I made the same table in my craft space except it wasn't against a wall so I was able to access all the cubes from the outside of the table instead of under the table. Again...thank you. It was a great project for me and my dad!!
I liked it better with the natural wood, but who cares what I think. It’s YOUR craft table. Thanks for sharing :)
Happy first day of summer, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Happy summer! Finally :)
Very cool idea, especially for small craft-room or even for my bedroom as I store my craft items in there LOL!!! Thanks for sharing & thumbs up!
Girl, who doesn't have a messy room...LoL. You did a wonderful job Hun, I excited to see how it comes out! Looking fab Sis💖
Right!? lol Thanks so much doll, I'm excited to show you gus!
Love!! Those marble tiles are awesome!!! And the storage cubes will be incredible for all of your crafting materials! Go you!
Thank you Tammy! I am so excited to get it all done and show you guys. I was debating the tiles, but I know I made the right decision lol. When my husband was against the tile, I knew I had to do it lol. The price I saw for them at the store was $1.29 so I was pumped when they rang up at 88 cents!
Bahahahahah! Love it! We think alike! 88 cents? What?! Awesome! Eagerly awaiting the completed room!
Awesome idea! Considering the price on purchasing one already made, i think you saved a lot of money making it yourself! Very pretty as well! Excited to make this for my craft room, as i am limited on space myself. Thank you for sharing your idea!
+Joyce Norton you're not kidding! I am definitely one to try and save money any which way I can! Thank you for watching and I hope your craft space comes out beautifully!
I think I now need to make one of these! I have no idea why I never thought about this!
This is a wonderful use of space. I love it.
Thank you!
Very neat idea! My dinning room looks a mess from all my painting supplies. Thanks for sharing your ideas! I’m going to check it out! 😊👍
You did a fabulous job on this DIY craft table. Really like the idea of using the cube storage and the adhesive tiles.
you could also put a piano hinge on the back part of the "table" and you can lift it to place stuff in storage and get stuff out of storage, all in all this is great!!!!
What an awesome idea. I really need one of those, a craft/sewing table, dedicated only to that. Lol. Thanks for the video. :)
Girl, you knocked this one out of the park! This storage idea is gorgeous. I'll be subscribing to your channel. Keep crafting...
Thanks so much and thank you for joining me!
I love your craft room. I would love to have the space to do one just like yours. Love it. Love it. Thanks so much for sharing
I love how this turned out!!! That amount of open top space would be a dream for ne to work with!! 😍 Thanks for sharing!!
kharlie22 thanks so much for watching! Yes I am very excited to be able to do my projects on this area. Make it happen girl!
Looks nice, Araceli! Have you considered adding damped hinges to the back of the table so you can tilt it up and give you better under-table access?
Thank you! No, I haven’t... there are shelves on the back wall and I always have stuff on the table. It would be more work to remove everything from the table top to lift it, than to just go underneath and grab what I need.
Your table is a great use of a small room & storage creation. Great for cutting out fabric (except for curtains which are a nightmare to cut) One way to deal with the edge and really finish the top off, would be to cut 1" strips out of an extra one of your vinyl tiles (You only need 7 strips) and stick them down. It would make your top look like a real piece of marble, & has the added advantage of making sure you NEVER get a stray splinter snagging on your fabric or your clothes after it's been bashed a few times. My only question is can you use a Rotary Cutter on the surface or will you still need a Cutting Mat?
Wow, this is genius! I am SO glad that I came across this video before spending a ton on a laminate countertop.
This a great idea, thanks for sharing! Gives me inspiration for my small craft room.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it helped you :)
Love this. I wanna revamp my vanity and book shelf and this is what I was thinking of doing with the vinyl tiles.
Thanks girl! You should do it and share it on your channel!
I absolutely love this!!! I may do something like this in my craft place. The top is beautiful and what a great idea.
Thank you so much! Good luck on a possible project :)
If it is too expencive I recommend to bye used wood pallet covering sheets from pressed wood size aprox 1000x1200mm for about 1-2 euro in Ireland you can find so probably same in $ in US etc. (In fabric, store you can ask or www)
And make all your crafting room, channel office etc. for 20-40$ and cover walls as well and make your own design.
Great space. I did something similar, but a bit smaller. I love the idea of using tile for the desk top.
Nice idea-love the tile top it looks very nice
+Diane Jostes thank you! And inexpensive too!
Love it Araceli!! Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the room!! Tyfs, hugs 🤗 Teresa
Hey girlfriend! Thanks so much for watching. Hugs :)
You inspire me to create my own space and I love it
I love the marble tile, but never would have thought to use tile on the wood. Great decision as it should clean good too. You will have lots of cubbies to put your stuff in, but be ware you will be on the floor getting to those in the back. It's hard to figure out a better way than you have now except maybe some people made comments about pulling it away from the wall so you can walk around it to get to your cubbies easier. This is what happened to me and getting on the floor constantly was a bear. Craft your heart out.
Great idea! I can’t wait to use it for my messy craft room.
Nice big desk! It's almost the size of a bed!
My thought was to have the middle bookcase much closer for accessing your shelved items. The top should be fine resting on the middle and rear bookcases, allowing you sufficient room for whatever chair you choose for the space. If you don't follow what I'm saying, I would be happy to send you a rough sketch.
Great job you will have a lot of Storage space great idea it looks so good!😊👍🏻
bonnie corsalini definitely tons of storage! Thanks Bonnie! :)
Looks Great!! love the storage with the cubes,I need to get a small one🙂you are not alone, my spare bedroom was same for 2+yrs....
Thanks so much! They do have smaller cubes at walmart. They are two instead of three rows!
I think that it is awesome and you did a wonderful job. Tyfs
Thank you so much :) and thanks for watching!
that's so great love it👍💖😃 great video 😊
Thanks Sofia!
if you drill a hole in the back table top you could place a surge plug on the back it would be convent for you with hot glue sewing heat gun etc. (kinda like the library tables) not to mention if the power surges your stuffs not ruined
I love this DIY...such a great idea and I love the amount of storage space . Im going to do this to make a vanity. thank you for the ideas.
Great idea! Loved the use of floor tiles for top. Do the seams get in the way of cutting fabrics? Another idea for you, can get more matching floor tiles and attach to the edges you painted.
I would've taken the one against the wall out. Really don't need it there because the two sides are good enough. Place the other one in another area but either way you gave me an idea. Miss creative good job 👏👏👏👏👏💜
If that's what works for you perfect. I really do need it there because as I mentioned again and again, I need the rest of the room for other things lol SO, under the top it is. Thank you for watching :)
Great project but it would be even better if you added a light underneath so that you can easily see the items you have stored under there, plus it adds a nice decorative touch for only $3 or $4 more. You could also add a topper that runs along the two sides that touch the walls for a lot of additional storage using dollar tree candle holders as risers with a board that is 1 to 2' wide. Personally, I would also add my self-healing cutting mat centered along the inner edge of the table where I would be working on most projects.
Hey I know you got this along time ago but if you didn’t want to have that wasted space in the corner if you cleaned out that room you could actually put that in the middle of the rooms you could walk all the way around it or only use the shelving that’s on the side to make sure they’re screwed and really good so the top is it moved and then take the third one and put it on top and you can have decorative storage and show projects u did or be able to get to The storage a little bit easier or if you wanted to have it as decorative storage you could put it on top of the table on the inside just a thought and you can access all your cells and have Everything flush against the wall But that’s if you didn’t put it in the middle of your room
Great idea!!!!!!!!! Love this!!!!!!
What works for one may not work for another damn dont make if u dont like it. Araceli dont even bother with another comment about this its not worth your time!! Keep doing your channel your way!!
Thanks girl! ;)
That's nice. I'm thinking bout getting that for making a desk, family dollar carry tiles in a box for $10. I think. Love your craft table, I already have the white cubbies but using them in my closet and one of the 9 cubbies is my coffee sation, new subscribers, thanks for sharing
gwen grayer thanks so much for watching and for the support! We don't have a family dollar here but that sounds like a good deal! Good luck making yours!
drill a hole in the back or cut a square for the outlet, place a serge protector with multiply plugs fyi
I do have one of those! Luckily I didn't have to make wholes. I was able to just remove the backing to that cubby :)
Very nice wish I had a space like that
Thank you!
If you would make a,cut of the wood at the edge of the back cibes, then put hinges there to attach the larger piece to it, you would be able to lift it up to get into the cubes much easier. I would make some sort of latch on the wall to hold it up.
Cute room! I'm so jealous you got that wood for $10..that is awesome!
I did something similar except the one you have against the back I have on top. The top is narrower but give more storage where I can easily reach it. The one I have on top is 2 squares wide by 3squares high but it's laid sideways so 2 high by 3 wide.
Are all the supplies on this from Dollar Tree!!!! Today is my first day watching you. I gotta say, this grandma loves ya!!! You remind me of me when I was younger girl. I guess I'm still like that. I love to laugh, play jokes/pranks, I'm sarcastic and that gets me into trouble sometimesl" Great show sweetie!!
Debbi thanks for the love!! I only wish it was ALL from the Dollar Tree lol.
I'd love this for my sewing machine!
Yes! I have been sewing quite a bit lately and it is perfect for it too :)
Honestly i am living for your sarcastic comments 😂 But on a real note, i was thinking about doing something really similar but possibly 3×6 instead of 3×5, and was wondering if youve had any trouble with the top sagging at all? I plan on using half the top for a cutting area and the other half for ironing so ill probably be putting a moderate amout of weight on it when im cutting fabric, but obviously not 50+ lbs.
i like it alot i dont know why people would put it down unless there jealous because you did yourself didnt need a man, i think you did great bravo!!! and anyone who says different they need a life or dont watch my question is where did you get the shelving and what size im going to make the same one!!thank you
never mind i read more and found my ansers thank you
I really love it!!!
TashasCraftCorner thanks son much girl!
You did a great job. Thanks for sharing
Put the table in the center of the wall and have two of the units facing out that way you don't have the wasted space in the corner. Just a thought.
when i get new house i am so doing this! thats my favorite! and add little more things to it whenever i do i will mention your name to my new home! thanks girl! im deaf but i will surely try add my mom voice to the video so that way you guys understanding what i am saying! :)
The empty corner would be a great space for a floor lamp?
The table top covers the corner :)
Hahah Yep I noticed! A hole the size of the lamp pole could easily be drilled and given a plastic round desk hole sleeve thingie to keep it looking nice? Just suggestions obviously ~ we crafter need alllll the light! 😁
I love this idea thanks for sharing.
+Bernadette Rivas thank you!
Hi..I just found your channel! I love your craft table and am definitely stealing your idea for the floor tiles! They look great and provide some cushion for my stamping. Thanks for sharing and don't worry about the haters...envy is a beast! Lol
Oh I subscribed and running to your next video!💕
This is fab!! I'm so gonna make this it will go perfectly in my loft conversion nowhere for me to put shelves. Thank you so much for sharing, I'm new to your channel love it!! xx
Brilliant placing the vinyl tiles on the wood.
Woo girl! You seem to have a magnet for rude people! Some of the suggestions, I can see were just people trying to be helpful, but others are just downright rude! Anyway, I love what you've done with the space. I'd love to do something similar, but one of the drawbacks to living in England is that anything storage-wise is outrageously expensive. Affordable storage is just one of the things I miss about America.
Yea some people like to hide behind a screen and are rude. Thats too bad! I don’t know what I’d do without being able to do things on a budget!
This craft table is a fabulous idea! Thanks for the info!
Love this I think I would cut out the one part wasted space part put tell light one faces up and has other light you can move a round.
Very cute. Nice job
Awesome job. Super nice,And budget friendly. I may make me one. looks like a perfect size for making and storing my bath bombs. Thanks for the idea. New subbie!
Hey girl thanks for watching and I'm glad it gave you some inspiration! :) Thanks for the love!
Finally my husband is going to let me do this desk. for me it is a desk not a craft table. I am so excited!!!I I have a office slash where I sell clothes online. This will work Great....
Hi love this idea
How has it held up over the years❓
It’s been great but my daughter is now two, so I’m moving into the garage 😂
looks good! what about putting that bottom middle cubbie on top instead on below for better access... I guess it would take a little bit away from your desk space...
Thanks girl! I though about that too, but I really wanted to maximize every square inch I could possibly use lol. I am putting shelves on that wall. I have several different things that I'm working with, so I am excited to share the end result.
I cant wait to see it!
You can use that corner, "the waisted space" to store wrapping paper
Looking good!!
You have your cubes on their sides. The long shelf pieces need to be running horizontally because they take the weight of the items in each cube. Otherwise all the weight is on the little dowel pieces which will break. It all looks great by the way. :)
Oh my gosh this looks like two of my bedroom's. I wish you would come over to this elderly woman's house and help me clear them out. LOL ❤️ from West by-God Virginia
this is great and so much storage :o)
I love the project but for us that have arthritis makes it harder. To get to the stuff way in the back. I would cut in on the inside, to the first cube of the one facing outside. That would be perfect
I just seen this video! Gurl!! Do your channel your way! Love the desk! I'm seeing this a year later so hopefully you got that outlet problem fixed.....great video! I'm gonna watch your reveal video next never seen it!
I love it!
Thank you!
Thank you so much. I was thinking to do the same thing with Milk crates.
Nice job Araceli!!
Dehaven Owens thank you dehaven!
Omg so cool! Hey I didn't know you call your subs Luvlies too! I'm going to show my Husband this vid. See if he can do something like it's
Thanks girl! Haha yea I do sometimes :) Giiiiiirrrrllll...if he can't you can!! lol.
It looks great! TYFS
Thanks Bobbi!!
I’m not sure if I missed it, but did you connect the storage cubes to the board, or is the board just sitting on top?
Actually the shelving that's hidden in the middle should be used in another place in the room.. The reason is every time you need something you have to go under on your hands n knees to get it. I think on another part of the room with the other shelves would give you more space and less cluttered.
👍🏼
Wow.....absolute great idea! It looks custom made just for that space....your brain went on overtime for this one...I really like this one!! Araceli...it's great!!! Love the amount of storage space!!! Love the marble top look🙂Mil.
Thank you Mil! It took me several days to come up with the layout that would work best for me. I used a room planner and everything, so technically it was customized for my space :) I'm glad you liked this one!
I like that for the small space to do your crafting.
Looks nice and it has a lot of storage space my dear :)
Thanks darling!
