  • IT was announced this week that Germany will be supplying tanks to Ukraine, with the UK and the U.S following suit.
I spoke to former British Army tank commander, Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Craword, who broke down the specifics of these three types of tanks - and explained the impact they could have on the conflict.

Nah this guy isn’t rly being entirely truthful. He’s following a narrative that the challengers r old because the tank regiments desperately want to challenger 3 upgrades. However the MOD is less sure it’s one of the first things they’ll consider scrapping if they get their budget reduced. So there is a narrative that the challenger 2 are unfit. And whilst yes the challenger hasn’t had any major new versions like the leopard or abrams which fitted new guns, there have been significant upgrade packages including sights, thermal imagery aswell as active protection. challangers are the best protected MBTs and their gun is more accurate even than the new L55A1. However has increased barrel wear, ammunition cost and less penetrative power which is why they’ve decided to switch it for challenger 3. However not a very good choice for Ukraine, again the gun with its unique ammo which isn’t even produced anymore. And not enough numbers to justify the supply demands

As that US general said yesterday, the M1A2 -Abrams requires a very skilled professional crew to operate, and it needs very expensive and extensive logistical support - and it consumes a lot of fuel, in other words it's a very good tank designed for a very rich country with a lot of money to burn- and an unskilled tank crew will blow out its engines before it reaches the front! That's why they preferred Ukraine to use the Leopard 2 tanks - a cheaper, slightly lower performance but built for rugged handling by a conscript Army,. Ditto the Challenger 2, it was built to be operated by a professional tank crew, and it's too complicated for a third rate army like the Ukrainian's (or the Russians for that matter).

@@kierano8390 They are third rate - First rate armies are those of Countries like the US and UK - they've been a professional army fighting in all sorts of war in different parts of the world using state of the art equipment for decades. Second rate armies are highly trained and disciplined professional/conscript armies such as that of Israel, which has a long history and accumulated experiences from successfully conducting major combat operations, albeit in a limited theatre (in Israel's case that's the Mid-East), or well trained and professional armies like the tough Aussies which have participated as US or UK allies in many combat operations, but are not as well equipped as the American army. Third rate armies are those of Countries like Ukraine - conscript, trained to fight only one type of enemy - and the level of training and experience is varied and questionable - yes they've been trained by the NATO alliance since 2014, but I wonder how many of those are still alive after 1 year of Russian onslaught - the new ones they've been sending into the fray, like the Russian soldiers, have been hastily trained. THEY'RE desperate to Defend their homeland, so they'd fight bravely, but nonetheless they're third-rate in terms of quality. THAT'S NOT TO SAY a third rate army can't win a first rate Army, the Taliban and Viet Cong lost most battles in the field but they so drained the will of the US, that eventually the US Army gave up and went. They lost 100 men to each US soldier lost, but the US couldn't afford to lose 1000 men they were quite ready to lose 100K men - I 'm not saying third rate armies can't win - I'm simply saying they can't handle the sophisticated weapon systems of the Americans.

Far too little and far too late, whatever is now sent will be rushed into service and just as quickly either destroyed or become disabled and require specialised repair which will deplete Uraines ability to go on the offensive very quickly and while the front might move it will again grind to a halt and stalemate will ensure once more, people decry Russian soviet era tanks as being outdated and useless but the fact remains if fifty of these things turn up on your doorstep you could neither shoot enough of them nor reload quickly enough to stop them overrunning your positions, some would get through and your lines would collapse as a result so if the West wants to see and end to this conflict then any offensive action needs to be of division size and equipped well enough for at least two months intensive operation to push Russian forces right out of Ukraine in one continuous movement, anything less than this will be an utter waste of time, manpower and equipment and will not resolve the issue at hand.

Analytics is a stubborn thing, and mathematics in the form of numbers can speak for itself. And now attention:
“380 downed aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a destroyed air army, and most likely even one and a half, 204 helicopters is another air army. 7537 tanks and AFVs - two tank armies and five combined arms armies. 983 MLRS - shock army. 401 SAM - Air Defense Army. 3841 guns - four artillery armies. 8066 vehicles - eight armies. Russia laid down TWENTY-THREE enemy armies in a year! And this is FOUR fronts! Well, or FOUR army groups of the Wehrmacht. Or the ALL modern NATO grouping in Europe. And without millions of own losses of the RF Armed Forces. The result even surpasses the times of the Second World War and all other wars! Any state in the world would have already been defeated, though without the collective help of the West and their henchmen.
This, by the way, is an answer to talkers and a reason for the enemy and the NATO bloc, which specifically opposes Russia, to start feverish actions to pump up the ukroreich with weapons, including already heavy offensive ones. Does anyone doubt the effectiveness and combat power of the RF Armed Forces (excluding the nuclear triad)? Apparently, only stupid and rabid Ukronazis and their followers. According to the latest data, and this is not Russian data, let me tell you, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine exceeded 232,000 killed. The Stratfor Forecasting agency generally stated that Ukraine's losses exceeded 305,000 killed. The number of the wounded cannot be counted, because medicine in Ukraine has long since "lain down" after such an influx of the wounded and crippled, and Europe, represented by dozens of hospitals, has taken over the treatment and recovery of the wounded Ukrainians. Hundreds of people a day are secretly delivered there by sanitary aircraft. With what now in Europe there are no problems, so it is with donor organs. According to rumors, queues for transplants in specialized private clinics have advanced by 55-60 percent. Never before have European transplantologists had such a profit, because organs are delivered to clinics uninterruptedly and at dumping prices, the process is going on as if on a conveyor belt.
European doctors gleefully rub their hands. Still, this has never happened, but there are unlimited resources.
The war must continue until the last Ukrainian! This is the sacred desire of all Europe and Ukraine itself!
