Man, this is by far one of my favorite Opeth songs , EVER . . . To have been there , fuck . . . I'd fall my to my knees and just stare in awe, everyone & everything around me would simply cease to exist. Music would be the only truth, everything else would've disappeared.
Interesting that on this mix you cant really hear the keyboards on the funky section and it makes that bit sound totally different but still interesting than the way it normally sounds.
Yeah and thats not all, I met all the members at the airport. and the keyboardist was one who was the easiest to talk to. Nicest guy ever. I swear. Oh yeah and did I mention? I caught Mikael Akerfeldt's pick
not only this, the new keyboard player is a beast in everything he does, i saw them live in Milan, and he was absolutely amazing, at some point during the concert he just went soloing with every fucking keyboard effect he had, i miss Per but the new guy is not bad at all :)
@rudyxtx actually in a recent interview he said he never lost them, just that he was using the in ear monitors as opposed to ear plugs and so his perception of how the growls sounded was different from normal
@dosokreativomannen Yep, there's your answer! He played with Yngwie Malmsteen and Glenn Hughes in the past, so as you can see Opeth only pick the best!
@thefranzfrom1991 he mentioned it in an interview, i think it was something about mikael getting new in-ear equipment and therefore he heard his own voice in a different way, which compromised his vocal technique, not on purpose ofc. i think that hurt his throat in some way. he still sounds awesome though
@rudyxtx he doesn't use custom in ear monitors any more, so he isn't hearing the sonic waves through his bones like that any more (growls in another way) -> better voice
Love Opeth. Love this concert. But damn- there's hardly any live mix left. This is mostly studio overdub. Too perfect.same with all their official concerts. He just can't resist. Everything has to be perfect with him.
You know what? you're right, i've heard Blackwater Park some days ago in a video (recorded some months ago) and it's incredible. It's great to know that the Rock am Ring thing was a shitty day haha
yeah, for me heritage having no growls means growls in the future will be better, Mikael's getting older and he needs to take a break from them every once and a while.
@mattais21 Really. I find his style a bit hard hitting for some of the lighter songs. On top of that he fucked up Masters Apprentice at wacken in 08. He's good no doubt but i don't think he really suits Opeth. My opinion.
DO NOT agree they are ABOVE Per's. Per simply raised the bar too high. He was a formidably versatile and talented musician. Perhaps more than anyone else in the band. Not saying he was the most creative in the band. But anyway new guy is great nevertheless, and equally versatile.
Gee people, no need to go all out on how the guitarist looks like, or how Per looked more metal than the new keyboard player. Guess what, this keyboard player rapes the bongos like crazy and his backing vocals are absolutely a level above those of Per. Grow up for fuck sake.
I love how he sings so beautifully then all of a sudden growls like a beast
0:25 i hear this guy’s voice in every opeth show wtf
YOU'RE SO RIGHT
0:25 "Then take 'em off!"
Can't hear the keyboard :(
We're gonna ROCK... We're gonna have such a fucking good time, guys!
Man, this is by far one of my favorite Opeth songs , EVER . . . To have been there , fuck . . . I'd fall my to my knees and just stare in awe, everyone & everything around me would simply cease to exist. Music would be the only truth, everything else would've disappeared.
this is awesome. the backing vocals are great. And Mike sounds awesome too. His growls are still great.
Really good performance
the gods of music! and thats that
I like this Joakim guy. I don't think he's got as much stage presence as Per, but he's pretty enthusiastic!
Interesting that on this mix you cant really hear the keyboards on the funky section and it makes that bit sound totally different but still interesting than the way it normally sounds.
im truly happy that the martin (bassist) is still in the band or else it prob wouldnt be the band it is today
His growls are getting better than the last couple of years, hell yeah!
Love this song...
True dat!! Love live Opeth!!!
i was here, it was awesome!
MAAnnn look at those eyes, yessS!!
Epic riffs
Sir, i salute you!
2:48 : Yeah, General snus!
OH MY GOD, the growls sound so much better!!!!!! YES!! This tour is gonna be sick.
@Skidbladner, it does matter, thanks for posting all the concert!!!
the kings
some mad drumming right there
How can a Band be so GODLIKE?!?! O__o Seriously!
I want that Comus shirt.
Mikael is always so polite
Geez, Mendez is a MONSTER!!!
Thanks to the RAH DVD I always think the guitar is going to break @5:41 haha! Can't wait to see Opeth in December.
the sound guys head exploded all over the sound board at the start of song. after that no more work was done.
Best band ever.
@Skidbladner Don't be sorry dude, this is more than fine. Thanks for the upload!
Yeah and thats not all, I met all the members at the airport. and the keyboardist was one who was the easiest to talk to. Nicest guy ever. I swear.
Oh yeah and did I mention? I caught Mikael Akerfeldt's pick
that's a good fkn question now you made me wonder...
I was there
Wow! ikael´s clean vocals are better than ever!!
not only this, the new keyboard player is a beast in everything he does, i saw them live in Milan, and he was absolutely amazing, at some point during the concert he just went soloing with every fucking keyboard effect he had, i miss Per but the new guy is not bad at all :)
inMYtimeOFneed92 joakim is awesome!
@MarianOctavarium exactly! :-D
@rudyxtx actually in a recent interview he said he never lost them, just that he was using the in ear monitors as opposed to ear plugs and so his perception of how the growls sounded was different from normal
Comus!
I actually really like the backing vocals here.
8:19 I swear that guy on the side looks very similar to Martin Lopez
yo también, dos veces xD
@moonlightritual being there was a fucking blast!
Mikael is playing a SE PRS GUITAR!!! He really likes quality guitars without $ prejudices!
Thor at the drum
general!
@dosokreativomannen Yep, there's your answer! He played with Yngwie Malmsteen and Glenn Hughes in the past, so as you can see Opeth only pick the best!
thats a dope fucking guitar
I miss Per. He had so fucking cute mustache!
@tonga666
That's crazy! I wonder that he was doing there...
@thefranzfrom1991 he mentioned it in an interview, i think it was something about mikael getting new in-ear equipment and therefore he heard his own voice in a different way, which compromised his vocal technique, not on purpose ofc. i think that hurt his throat in some way. he still sounds awesome though
@mattais21 AXE ROX!! :-D Indeed!
8:17 is that martin lopez watching from the side?
@divine0enigma yeah that's the only critique I have, with this song the keyboards are pretty much important... furthermore brilliant set!!!
@rudyxtx I was about to say, it sounds way better than their royal albert hall concert....
fuck yes ,, i was like :OOOOOOOOOO xD
@rudyxtx he doesn't use custom in ear monitors any more, so he isn't hearing the sonic waves through his bones like that any more (growls in another way) -> better voice
Their drummer looks just like the drummer in Dark Tranquillity
@Liolar43 seems like besides Michael and the Bass player they go through a lot of musicians
Is that the big 4 sonisphere?
@rudyxtx In my opinion, he never "lost" them. He just needed some time to rest his throat.
HAHAHAHA
@kevinqcowart LOL that guy look's like Lopez man
power balance on keyboards! jaja
@tonga666 its what i thought haha sadly he is only the drum tech he was out doing sound checks etc on the kit
Joakam is his name.
general snus @ 2:49
lol @ general white portion 2:49
@Liolar43 He looks a bit like a startled frog but other than that he seems pretty sound =P
MY DAD HAS THAT GUITAR
At 8:19. Say hi to Lopez :D
Did anybody else notice the desktop?
snus @2:50 ! :D
@Thystonius Not a level, an octave
Yeah I thought so aswell, but I'm pretty sure it's not Martin since this guy has no tattoo's on his left arm :P
@Vivalafp No dude, he needs most of those parts to keep making music...
Love Opeth. Love this concert. But damn- there's hardly any live mix left. This is mostly studio overdub. Too perfect.same with all their official concerts. He just can't resist. Everything has to be perfect with him.
I don't really think they play with some audio tracks behind. I saw most of them concerts (on youtube) and they always seem to play live.
His growls sounded so fuckin' good.. and it was only three years ago, shit. I heard the Rock Am Ring thing and he sounds very bad with the growls :(
That was because he was having a bad day. I heard him a few days ago and it was amazing :)
You know what? you're right, i've heard Blackwater Park some days ago in a video (recorded some months ago) and it's incredible. It's great to know that the Rock am Ring thing was a shitty day haha
Heard him like two day ago in Prague..I can say that his growl is same or even better than in 2003
Aergios bullshit. he lost his growl in 2008, everybody knows that.
I don't think so. He has his days, i've seen videos of the current tour and he's doing great in some shows.
yeah, for me heritage having no growls means growls in the future will be better, Mikael's getting older and he needs to take a break from them every once and a while.
100% better growls than RAH... my faith is back on the best growls on metal!!! 0oo0
Axe looks like a total fucking hippie! still awesome though, Badass Song, Badass Band!!!
@rudyxtx Well, you have no reason not to believe him, since he sounds fine now...
@thefranzfrom1991 it's not just you, his growls have hit the shitter in a pretty bad way
Paul Reed Smith guitars: get some locking tuners, so opeth don't have to retune each 2 minutes
too bad, video and sound are desynchronized :-(
(sound is a bit late...)
0:19...
Also, who in their back-assed mind throws a bottle at Opeth??
Does anyone else think that looks like Martin Lopez at 8:18?
The second stage of Sonisphere 2011 had terrible sound in general compared to the main stage through out the whole weekend.
único problema falta de presença de palco do vocalista.
Ivan PR porque? ele fica no meio do palco e cantando '-'
sim cara ele deveria pular animar mais o publico, mas é muito foda mesmo assim .
Ah sim, entendi a referência agora :)
@mattais21 Really. I find his style a bit hard hitting for some of the lighter songs. On top of that he fucked up Masters Apprentice at wacken in 08. He's good no doubt but i don't think he really suits Opeth. My opinion.

O brother, you are a killer and you target yourself
its me or his voice has become... how to say.. "not as good as before"?
Too bad Fredrick's guitar is a bit low on this record i hope it wasnt like that at the concert!..
lol....keyboardist wearing a power bracelet...
8:18 Martin Lopez? return to the band!!!
@saaalut oh thats just a bit.. ive seen much worse shit
Terrible sound board work...
