  • Dynasties are fun to cheer for and do not come often: the 1996 Chicago Bulls, 1970s-80s Boston Celtics, Showtime Lakers. Where do the Golden State Warriors belong after sealing the deal in Game 6 against Celtics? The Warriors have now won before Kevin Durant, during the era and after his departure. Colin Cowherd discusses what separates the Warriors' title win against the Celtics from the previous ones. As for Steph Curry, he won his first Finals MVP and earned his fourth title. Colin breaks down how the title impacts Steph's legacy and stacks it against players such as LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Me personally picks MJ and Curry as the most impactful players that ever played this game. They've done the things they're doing ahead everyone else. Not based on the number of championships and personal accolades, i think these two are the greatest force to ever grace the NBA. I remember when i was young, everyone wants to be like mike. Today, the kids are hitting threes coz they think they're cool doing it despite low percentages. And we see over the years an increase of bball players who are good at what is Steph is doing. He paved the way for these unathletic and small guys to dominate their games. I used to believe that bball was for big, tall and super athletic guys but Steph totally erased that belief same as AI gave me hope when i was young watching him doing the things he did.

His talent as a player makes him an all time great, but his humble nature and leadership make him a once in a lifetime player and the ultimate fundamental piece of a dynasty. Truly have enjoyed watching this man’s greatness over the last 10 years. Well said, Colin. The only issue I have is that Duncan would UNDOUBTEDLY be a Top 10, no matter how you cut it. Five championships, Two regular season MVP, Three Finals MVP, 15x All NBA and 15x All Defensive. If he played in a bigger market, eg New York, San Fran or LA, he might have enjoyed the narrative of being on the Mount Rushmore. Duncan was also THE PLAYER every coach/team wanted to have - great offense, great defense, holding down the paint, big time player/big heart, extremely loyal, awesome leadership, very coachable and team player, and galvanized everyone around him. He’s definitely in the Top 5-10 mark.

Like the great Bill Walsh said. Champions behave and act like champions before their champions. The Warriors’ players sacrifice(starters coming off the bench, stars sacrificing scoring) is a championship decision, accepting their roles and perfecting them is a championship decision, being coachable is a championship decision, choosing to stay in one place to build a culture instead of leaving to build a super team elsewhere is a championship decision….the result of their championship work ethic, and championship decisions resulted in a championship. They win championships because they’re true champions.

That's why Wiggins was able to make the best of his plays. You can just feel how He is so much comfortable playing with those guys. He was the perfect fit for this organization. Congratulations Andrew you are one of my Fave Players since Minnesota Days. I knew that someday you will be a great revelation and it did happen. I am so happy for SC. You nailed it about Steph and the Warriors in general. Steph came off the bench at the beginning of the playoffs...what other superstar does that? The Warriors are such a well run organization. You can see it when you go to a game, everything (and I mean everything) is dialed in, top to bottom. Bob Meyers is playing chess while most other GMs are playing checkers. Having been a fan of the Warriors for about 40 years now and suffering through many, many bad teams and seasons, it's a true joy to be able to watch them play and I catch as many games as I can.

Boston is big, long & athletic, but here's where I knew Golden state would pull it out, they had 123 games of Playoff experience vs. Boston's ZERO. With each game the pressure gets more intense, that's where the championship DNA kicks in. I remember a few weeks ago I was in this local store after our game 1 loss, I had on my Golden State T-shirt. Guys in line started saying "you guys are done, it's over for you." I said, "It's only one game,we'll make adjustments you'll see. Then some guy that worked in the store screamed "GOLDEN STATE IN 6!" I winked at him and left out. I can't describe how I feel right now, I don't care if we don't win another game, I'm satisfied forever with life memories that can't be taken away. Clear-eyed, eloquent, and informative--you have distilled the recipe for winning not only in sports but in life down to essential traits. The fundamental key: people come first. Invest in people, give them your full attention, call out their accomplishments and contributions and explain why their behavior and actions are beneficial. Constructively criticize bad decisions and behaviors with goal of helping people improve, never to demean. This is lifeblood of successful organizations and the entire Warriors organization is built on this DNA. It attracts the best as a result. @@christyson664 KD can join two other superstars when they're at they're best ever four years and win more than 3.5 rings what lebron did wasn't impressive. What if MJ Kobe etc team hopped around the league teaming up with other allstars to win people would be criticizing them but the media putting him in the same sentence as MJ is pathetic if he was so good he would've won the right way on his original team he would've done it better than MJ Kobe etc if he's supposed to be better

What make GSW so good is that it feels like a band of brothers more than just bunch of teammates. Each player knows theirs roles and are willing to sacrifice for one another and have each other's backs. If one goes down or plays bad, the others know to kick it up a notch and make up for the others. It's the culture of the organization and the other teams try to emulate it but fail because those players are more selfish and aren't willing to give something up for the greater good.

We don't need to give them extra credit, those 3 guys together have always been great when they're on the floor and always championship contenders. That year was just an oddity cz all top guys were gone from the year b4.

Colin, I tip my hat to you. This was one of the most well balanced analysis of the 2022 Golden State Warriors. Even after their fourth, there are still chirping from the talking heads that love nothing more than the sound of their own incessant screeching or even to the other extreme where they're ready to foist Steph to sainthood before his career is even over yet. You heard Steph when reporters asked about his MVP (which was important to everyone else but Steph to validate his achievements) he insisted that reporters stay on point that the Warriors won their fourth championship in eight years. There was no false modesty there. It will be their selflessness that will leave their mark on the legacy of the NBA. The Warriors win because they assemble the best team not purchasing a collection of the "best players".

I started rooting for him because of what Colin said, he’s a NORMAL dude! Stayed humble even after all the accolades and in my opinion even got hungrier when the so called “experts” counted them out. I would like to add that what the Warriors did this year was to inject energy to the team - particularly on defense. We heard all about how great the Boston Baked Beans were on defense, but they could not handle the Warriors once the Warriors put all of their players together that are developing defenders. And this was not because the team guessed wrong. The team played without key components of the defense all season - injuries - especially in the playoffs. But what also happened is that the new additions finally jelled over the last part of the regular season - Poole, Payton, and Wiggins in particular. Once all of those new additions came in, the team just turbo-boosted the already great talent they had. Boston never knew what hit it during the last three games once the Warriors found the energy boost roster. And it was not just putting all three on the floor at the same time - it was great coaching to spread them out to add sparks to the roster to wear down the likes of Tat-um, not so Smart, and Mophead. Kerr is like a locksmith - once he finds how to pick your team apart, he does it without mercy.

And what's scary is they are set up at every key position for the next 5 years. Today it's
Steph (guard), Klay (wing), Dray (big),
tomorrow it'll be Poole (guard), Wiggins (wing), Looney (big),
and later down the line they'll have Moody (guard), Kuminga (wing), and Wiseman (big).
If they can figure out a way to keep the development going and pay everyone the succession plan is set. It's incredible and SCARY. Also, I'd love to see these three on three games at practice lol.
