- Wow, it's been a while since I did one of these compilations, hasn't it!?
Anyway, Here are all of Akira Nishik's themes from all the Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku games that he was in! I've been wanting to make this compilation for weeks and after finding the track of that epic remix from the recent remake of the first game, I got to making this as soon as possible!

**In this game, he was Okada Izo. However, just for simplicity, I'm gonna refer to him as Feudal Nishiki. XD

It's not my favorite, but hearing "For Buddy" start playing during the final climax battle in Zero gave me goosebumps.
A sad foreshadowing
Yakuza 0.5
Yakuza 1: Sad and ominous, reflects the atmosphere of the first game
Yakuza ishin: Set in feudal Japan, adds a feudal tone to the yakuza 1 theme to fit the setting
Yakuza 0: Upbeat and heroic, reflects Nishiki's determination to protect Kiryu, even though Nishiki knows he will lose to Majima
Yakuza Kiwami: Dark, demented and psychotic. The tunes change throughout the theme, reflecting nishiki's mental state, from "I'm sorry kiryu..." To complete and utter insanity, nishiki has snapped and he is now evil, and he's never gonna be the same again...
Kiwami's version is the best. Carries the emotion of Nishiki's character onto the player, making you feel bad for having to fight him since he was once a good man, now turned evil
But wasn’t in the Kiwami version kinda reversed in your statement? isn’t his mental state kind of switching from him accepting he is evil to being sorry to kiryu for the path he took but he knows he can’t take it back that’s why during the fight he’s reflecting on the good memories they had in zero so that’s why in the end he sacrifices himself because he’s protecting kiryu once more to make amends for what he’s done
Qnd then nishiki in ykuza kiwmi turned back at the last moment to blow up the 10 billion yen, when he couldve ttok a step back and survived

Well, and those two CIA looking mofos in that one cutscene, where he laughs like a goose.
My love for playing as Majima in 0 knows no bound. However I kinda wished we had Nishiki instead. My dream game for RGG studios would be Yakuza 1 but from Nishiki's perspective. What he was doing throughout the game or maybe the events right before Kiryu was released from jail. I don't know call it Yakuza -1 or something.
No way we'd get a game where we actually play as a Yakuza. Especially one so evil.

These games are not about being a Yakuza. Hence why 0 had to make up a contrived reason for Kiryu and Majima to be out for the duration of the game.

In Yakuza 0 its called "For Buddy" but in Kiwami its called "For Whose Sake." This is most likely referring to the fact that Nishiki has forgotten Kiryu

That... makes a lot of sense, so much that I don't know why I never figured that out myself.
In Japanese version of Zero it's named "For Friend's Sake" which makes it sadder in my opinion
I think it's more "Nishiki doesn't know who or what to live for anymore". It's like exchanging fists with your lifetime best friend because they don't know who they've become anymore.
I'd say it's about that he lost purpose. He fights to get to the top of the Tojo Clan...but what's that for? His ambition and now chaotic egomania rushed him into fighting pointlessly

Yakuza 1s theme matches the tone with the first game. Very peppy fight theme with a dark atmosphere meaning that you as the player dont know why nishiki was a bad guy but you have to fight him. Kiwami 1 was a whole other level if you played 0 beforehand. Basically fighting a friend, an ally, a brother. Everything in 0 showed you what nishiki strayed away from. In kiwami you know why he did those things. And you cry when you fight him because of it.

That part right there in Kiwami sounds so sad. The others sound badass but Kiwami is just sad. Best part of the song for me because it's the saddest part.

Kiwami's is a beautifully chaotic rendition that brings out the melody and overall after a decade of the original's release along with 5 games it's this backwards reflective outlook that seems the devs wanted to say "hey remember this fight? it's more intense than you remember" like that part nishiki and kiryu are relentlessly haymakering eachother as the flashbacks roll in. it's amazing
edit: never noticed nishik's theme in 0 is a techno version of the OG lol

He doesn't pick up furniture to hit and stun you, do inescapable grabs, perform unlockable attacks and have a really long combo. He can still do the ground heat action which is cool tho.
ALSO: Could you imagine if he picked up furniture in the 0 fight? That's be a real bar brawl!

Ok I think I've figured out the meaning of For Your Sake
So each theme means Nishiki is fighting for someone either for Kiryu (for buddy) or nobody (for who's sake) but I've always had the question of who he was fighting for in Ishin and I think it's Takechi in real life Izo was basically Takechi's personal assassin and that seems to be the same in Ishin and it's clear throughout the game Izo looks up to Takechi so I think he's having a death battle with Ryoma for the sake of Takechi

Nishiki's theme freaked me out somehow
The one from 0? Same tbh, now that i think about it, i feel like it forshadowed the events of kiwami, the song felt like there was more to it, like it wasnt the original, since i played 0 first. Everything became clear when i played kiwami.
@@mr.libido7844 now that you mention, nishki’s theme in 0 being so strange is what eventually got me wondering if something would happen to him in future instalments, it felt as if it was hinting towards something.
i really like the original but i get why they changed it the add more hype in the kiwami vers.

He almost killed Kazama. He worked for jingu and when ever the chance came he chose murder. Liker they said in the game. Being a yakuza doesnt matter what you do. As long as your street cred is high then a yakuza can become high ranking. So he chose murder and deception
2nd degree murder, extortion, domestic terrorism, money laundering, several accounts of assault, possession of firearms, assault with a deadly weapon, but most importantly...

@@alucardo2961 to be fair Kiryu did a lot of that sort of shit as well. I mean he was a Yakuza after all. Nishikiyama went trough a lot of shit like losing Kiryu, Yumi and his sister and the stress of Creating his own family. He was always considered less than Kiryu by everyone around him. So he made it his goal to climb the ranks of the Yakuza and make it to the Top of the Tojo Clan in order to prove everyone wrong and to show that he is not under kiryu’s shadow. Nishikiyama did truly value his friendship with Kiryu even going as far as to betray the Dojima family for Kiryu and he even went out with respect as he in the end of Kiwami came to realization of his wrong doings and sacrificed himself to save Kiryu and haruka’s life. Nishikiyama was a brother to the end.

Nishiki vs kiryu best fight
I felt it was out of place when in 0 you fight Nishki as Majima. What if instead, they had a section where you fight nishki as kiryu in the woods and his 0 theme played. As Nishki fights to stop Kiryu from returning to Kamurocho to face the Dojima clan and put his life at risk; Kiryu would fight to protect Kazama and redeem himself as the innocent party. Makes it more fitting and makes the story way more impactful in my opinion.

Jon Brown Yakuza 0's version is intentionally underwhelming though. There's no emotional baggage between Majima and Nishiki, so in a way the music reflects that. Kiwami's version is way better for that same reason. Huge emotional baggage between Kiryu and Nishiki. I can't say I like 0's version, but I've come to appreciate it after playing 0 and Kiwami, in that other.
Omfg... this game looks so bad now. Can't believe I accepted this as a kid. Did not think it was great, just good for the time.

Hey, c'mon. Graphics and sound don't automatically make a game good or bad.
But I'll admit the 1st game hasn't aged too well.
I mean hey you can make it look excellent when on an emulator
The Golden Boot Chronicles you can't. Filters and higher resolution won't suddenly make a game look better.
That said, Yakuza 2 holds up quite well.
So 0 ruined one of the best tracks in the series. How's the rest of the music?
Most of the Yakuza 0 soundtrack is pretty good actually. :)
And the final fight music is one of the best in the series

Kuze's theme is THE SHIT, probably my favourite of the series
