      I like where Volvo is headed. They want to get away from gasoline and safety is always number 1. The S60 looks sick and I like how they adopted the colored seatbelts
      from their other line of boss wagons. I think it looks great. Quite honestly, the price point is fine. This is a vehicle I would love to own.

      I have a 2001 Volvo S80 T6 exec (which is twin charged). Neither the Turbocharger or the Supercharger have worn out or required any serious maintanence over the course of almost 18 years. These performance parts are extremely sturdy when the car is meant to have them in it (i.e as opposed to when they are just added on after the car is bought). Now for the Hybrid portion I can't say anything for certian, but it's probably still better than almost all the other hybrid cars out there in terms of durability anyways. Aside from Teslas.

That is arrogant of you to assume that they are so insignificant, that they have zero input in engineering. To say they have no input is pretty racist. Also, most of the S90s we get in the United States are assembled in China. Are you saying that the Chinese have no input on how they are going to be built or how the factory will be built, and the vendors they buy from their surrounding area. ZF don’t make an eight-speed auto for transversely-mounted engines. There’s a nine-speed, but it’s not great. Volvo uses Aisin gearboxes who supply Mazda and Toyota among others

    • @matthewrogers5153
      @matthewrogers5153 5 лет назад +18

      Can confirm. I have the 8-speed ZF in my BMW. Awesome transmission.
      I have the 9-speed ZF in my Acura MDX. Far less than awesome transmission.

    • @duffyt26
      @duffyt26 5 лет назад +3

      This Aisin seems just as horrid as the ones in the s60 2012-2018 which was equally poor as the 6 speed in my old s80 V8 from 2007. HORRID transmissions in Volvos which simply ruins any and all Volvos if you are the type of person who actually enjoys driving, not simply riding along cruising. I had to floor it 2 seconds before expecting speed to build when overtaking people and now i'm on BMW's ZF 8 speed. By god, the difference. Angers me that Volvo can't either come up, or source, better drivetrain parts considering they want to go "premium" and I'm a Swede who's owned 4 Volvos, manual and auto alike. Both Diesels and Petrols. Good engines in the older cars. Horrible gearboxes. Even the manuals are hopeless flopping things. Reliable but awful feeling!

    • @Lndmk227
      @Lndmk227 5 лет назад +4

      @@duffyt26 Would you rather have sporty with questionable reliability, or reliability with sporty intentions? History has taught us you can't have it both ways. My 2015 S60's transmission isn't the fastest, admittedly, but once it revs, it's every bit as quick as a 328i. I think part of it also comes down to the turbocharger. That said, do I wish the transmission were a little quicker? Yes, but I wouldn't give up the mechanical quality for it to do so.

    • @theconformist2399
      @theconformist2399 5 лет назад

      Ditto this. Honda (as an example) struggles with 9-speed ZF transmissions in their Pilot and Odyssey models, with lots of customers complaining about reliability, maintenance costs, rough shifting, etc.
      Since I, alas, don't have infinite amounts of money and would rather not have to constantly pay to fix my car, I'll take reliability with sporty intentions.

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB 5 лет назад +6

      Toni Radanov It’s Volvo’s job to specify the trans and do the transmission calibration. All Aisin does is build to that spec.
      That’s why Mazda’s six-speed Aisin gearbox is so good, because Mazda does a fantastic job of its calibration. Clearly Volvo wants smoothness over shift speed

The car audio is also fantastic! Make sure you dont use audio from the Iphone xs max however as android has much better bluetooth quality due to aptx. Had to use my older note 8 as a audio player for tidal. However its a fantastic car! Even in full electric mode it tows a trailer easily. I look forward to testing it on snowy roads in winter.

      They won't, I think the reason they only have these 4 cylinders are because they have been planning to go all electric/hybrid and I believe they plan to do that in 2019 or 2020. When they started with the new gen cars a couple of years back, they probably decided to not put too much R&D into new petrol/diesel engines because of that. As long as their electrical engines are powerful enough I think that's fair enough actually.

      In some countries taxes depend on engine displacement.
      Volvo will never again make any engine with more than 4 cylinders or 2.0L bc of fuel consumption, exhaust, weight, place under the hood, cost of production and service.
      This is a daily with over 400hp and 4 cylinders - You dont need more for a daily, and Volvo does not make supercars.

    The speakers are “gold” because they’re made out of Kevlar. It’s a signature Bowers & Wilkins mobile audio thing, it’s on the BMWs, Jags, Volvos, and McLarens. The Kevlar is used because it’s extremely light and rigid, causing less distortion under load. But it’s also kinda a marketing thing.

      It can be a neat feature, and almost made me subscribe to Sirius for the first time. I rarely found myself rewinding songs, but it does have one big benefit. Whenever you tune to a new channel, it always starts from the beginning of a song.
      So if you're scanning presets and find a song you like, it just starts from the beginning and you can listen to the whole song. Which is way better than tuning in, recognizing a song you love, and then realizing there's 10 seconds left before the song ends. This means you typically spend more time listening, and less time jumping from channel to channel.
