    I fixed one last week by drilling/tapping a hole on each side of the crack and spanning the crack with a piece of steel and 2 screws. I used JB Weld all along the crack. In addition, my fix is different because I drilled a few extra holes in the steel patch (like mesh) so the JB Weld came through it and added a lot more strength .

      That's a great idea, drilling extra holes for the JB Weld to have a better grip. Thanks for the suggestion. 😊

    I found out my Kohler engine had loose bolts because I noticed smoke coming up one day. And looked and there was a bunch of oil going to the muffler. And so I tightened those bolts. And then a couple of years later, I checked and had to retighten them. And they've been tight ever since.

    Hey Taryl, I used your engine swap video when I swapped my Briggs & Stratton out of my Craftsman LT1000 for a Kohler 5400 series engine. It’s been an excellent engine so far! Keep up the great work!

    • @bertgrau3934
      @bertgrau3934 Год назад

      I swapped out a wore out Briggs for a Kohler Pro, V twin 25 horse my Briggs was a 12.5 horse. I did that before I seen Taryl's videos on swapping engines, but it works great the extra horsepower makes cutting tall grass or weeds fast and easy. I had to do a lot more work because the pulley for the blades was different. The Kohler used a 1 1/8 inch crankshaft, the Briggs uses a 1 inch shaft. I made it work by taking apart an old electric PTO, it had the right size shaft on both ends a simple weld to the transmission drive pulley (came with the engine) and cut the blade drive pulley off of the Briggs set and had that welded to the small end and it works great. I haven't seen anyone do the same as what I did, but shouldn't be difficult for someone that can weld.
      Good to know your happy with the Kohler engine 😊

    Hey Taryl i had a question if you don't mind. I have a 42" troy built bronco and the something just blew on the engine. Its a real hot day and i had it parked on a slight incline and then it started running really rough/loud and ran to shut it off as it was smoking as well and it ended up having a hole blown near the bottom on the side of the engine. Now ive never taken one of these engines apart. Is it a real hard job? Thanks for any advice Bud.

    I take a piece of copper about 2 " by 1 " drill a hole in it so the bolt goes through it then make a couple of relief cuts then when I put the bolts back on I fold the copper around the head of the bolt I use a screw driver and a hammer to bend the copper around the bolt because it has a flange on the head of the bolt so it kinda rough to get it to form good around the bolt then bend the rest of the copper over the edge of the block so the bolts can't back off

      Ty Armand It has a blown head gasket.To certify that it does,get a compression tester and check each cylinder for a CONSISTANT reading.Both cylinders should be close,but in this case one will be alot lower then the other.
      Its very debatable to change the other head gasket on the good cylinder head,I personally would do so.

    I paid $5,000 to take that Ronald Jergenstein class to learn how to fix old lawn mowers and he sold me a kit to fix cracked engine blocks that had what looked like a tube of Elmer's school glue with sawdust in it . There was a piece of tape over the label that said , Jergenstein Cracked Block Fixer , and then a roll of duct tape and a bumper sticker that said Jergenstein Lawn Mower Workshop that your supposed to put over the duct tape or on the mower where people can see it good . The kit cost $45.00 and the books , tapes, c.d's and nutritional supplement vitamins and V.H.S. tapes cost $875.00 but they haven't arrived yet . I called him and he said he was sorry it's taking so long but he offered to sell me some dish soap and laundry detergent real cheap to make up for it .
