Two ways to fix a cracked block, Aluminum weld it or use use JB Weld Aluminum. Depends on how severe the crack is. Cracked head? Forget about it. That isn't so bad. Replace the damaged parts after cleaning up the sump and block. Weld or JB Weld the crack. Good as new.
i have a Briggs and Stratton 26 hp. engine on my LA 175 54 inch John deere lawn Tractor. I bought it new in 2008. I had to replace the oil pan gasket at year 6 for it was leaking. It's a common problem with them. I also have a Husqvarna 54 inch zero turn with a 24 hp kohler engine that I bought in 2008 also when I bought my acreage. The Kohler engibne has been great. Not a bit of problem and I cut 3 acres a week then sweep afterwards it. My experience with Briggs and stratton is they're junk. Get a kohler.
I rebuilt 1 about 6 years ago that had a hole in the block..patched the hole with a tig welder still use it every summer ..less than a grand in the rebuild
@chriscornett3144 I've never paid over $848 plus tax for a 20hp twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton intek engine and that's today's price. Before Briggs went belly up and sold out to a holding c company in New York, I could buy the same engine for $639. Small Engine Warehouse. $50 to ship

I've used JB Weld many times.👍👍
Inspection of valve keepers is a must now days and also inspection of new ones also
Looks like it dropped valve
There is no way the valve top can get into the crankcase on an OHV engine unless the piston has been destroyed.
I agree. I think the valve stem snapped, dented up the head and destroyed the piston.
109 today in shop , shut door at 3 pm, just to hot 🥵
Same here
If it’s not a sleeve steal bore don’t waste the time welding it
That block is done along with the head..trash it. Parts only
Is there a compression release missing on the camshaft? Enjoy your videos!
