After Padang Food, perhaps u can try Manadonese food (from Manado,Sulawesi), Medanese (such as Rumah makan Medan Baru), and also food from Makasar such as Konro Karebosi, etc. Basically, every region in Indonesia has different flavor.
Ivana's mom is from Manado! Would love to explore there. Usually, we come to Indonesia once every year or so, but we've been away for awhile because of the pandemic. Our goal is to explore everywhere in Indonesia one day :) , and hopefully Manado comes soon!
Have to agree with this. Yogyakarta had good dessert and traditional foods. Jakarta I think had the best night markets and martebak Manis, dan bakso ayam that taste different from Bali. Favorite was soto ayam in Negarq

a little anecdote, there's a franchise of padang restaurant by name of "sederhana" which means "simplicity", but the funny thing is the food prices itself isn't really that simple 🤣
You come to the right place. Garuda is one of the best spot to eat nasi padang in Jakarta.
I took my American husband to nasi padang and he ate 5 plates of dendeng with red chilies, no joke 😆 it was the super crispy kind though. Surprised you didn't drink es kelapa or es teh manis with the padang to balance out the heat of the spices.

Eating nasi Padang can save money if we buy the food in a pack. Use rendang and omelet as a side dish the price ia around 30k rupiah. It's delicious because there's a lot rendang seasoning and it's given sause from other side dishes. And three muat be green Chili sause and cassave leaves too.

My man!!! Dendeng belado is my favourite padang dish hands down as well!!! Actually just eating it now as I watch this video sitting here in Germany! Super easy and satisfying to make!! FYI the meat is boiled in spices first, cooled down, sliced and pounded, then fried! So goood!!! :) Thanks for posting this!

Balado means to have pepper or chilli in this case. Ba = prefix to have. Lada or lado = pepper or chilli. Dendeng is a type of minangkabau/ padang jerky.

It's a magical place ,the landscape is amazing..Sumatera islands are close to Peninsular Malaysia.Before pandemic,there used to be a direct flight from KL - Padang by AirAsia,a 1 hour flight and it cost us rm100 return ticket only :D

Hey Steve lvana, this is good vlog! I hv eaten fish and chicken brain, pork brain many years ago but can’t remember if l had tried beef’s. You’re good at those spicy chilli and you sweat while eating, at the same time burning up your fats. I would be needing more tissues than you - runny nose and teary eyes! I didn’t know so much variety of selection of Nasi Padang. I’d like to try each dish too but too much at one-go. Very good description of food.

Minangkabau is the origin place of negeri sembilan people. I believe abang ajib descendants can be traced back to that place. The rooftop design , cultural dance, head gear cuisine and even the customary law ( adat perpatih) is also the same. Hope you can go there someday and make a vlog about it 🤩

Ivana is right the 'otak' is superbly creamy and delicious 👍 love the 'ayam pop' , the green and red sambal lado is a must dip with boiled casava leaves whoaa..really temptatious I would always look for nasi Padang whenever I go to Indonesia. Try Nasi Kapau at Bukit Tinggi , Padang 👍 It's a place called Kapau really authentic dish of the Minangkabau. I can cook some of the dishes because of too much of eating them and I started to pick some of the ingredients and also by the help of Mr Google 😅 we have so many padang food stalls in Kampung Baru , KL and some exclusive restaurants very famous such as Garuda , Sari Ratu and Restoran Sederhana , you won't get dissapointed with their authentic padang food , highly recommended 👍 now I'm craving for nasi padang 🤣 thanks guys much appreciated for this wonderful makan-makan vlog five-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🥰😘👍

Come to Padang (West Sumatera) you can find Masakan Padang everywhere, so delicius ❤😍
there's couple menu that they usually don't bring to the table that you need to ask if you want "gulai cincang, soto padang, gulai kepala ikan, nasi goreng padang, martabak kubang" all this food rarely serve but actually very tasty with different flavors, it's so secret only padang people know about it, never see non-padang eat or ask this type of food. And you're right Minangkabau is the ethnic and Padang is the capital city.
Martabak Kubang is one of the best!
Garuda Padang Restaurant relative more expensive, for myself prefer to Pagi Sore Padang Resto, but its fine if you wanna feel the Atmosphere. Also If you wanna try Sate Padang than go to Cikajang Street and find Sate Padang Ajo Ramon. And next time don't took out your camera or Gopro while on Angkot specially on certain area., it could be dangerous..ok continue you journey 👍👍❤❤

Steve, if you want to have a taste of Manado cuisine in Jakarta, one famous place in particular is Beautika. yeah, I know, it sounds like a Beauty Salon. had me fooled first time. 😆

For me, Bunga Pepaya (Menteng area) are better than Beautika. The "Ikan Kuah Asam" are superb!
Beautika is the name of the beauty salon owned by the same person who owns the restaurant.
The owner opened the salon first and then opened the restaurant in the same place with the same name as the salon name

Nasi Padang is never wrong. Every dishes are amazing.
Normally I put aside those dishes that I don't want to eat. Dendeng balado is my favourite, so is ayam pop.

LOL! It's a normal thing in other countries, although it took me some getting used to. It's even harder when you're trying to make a vlog lol... our camera was covered in greasy fingerprints! Haha no regrets
