  • FINALLY, it's happening. The studio build has started! Something I've always felt I need to survive with working from home, with kids toys and clutter everywhere! Join me as we take a look into the process of building a studio in my garden. The main talking point in this episode, is a storage solution for all of my photography and film gear! Hopefully you can help me decide on what is the best storage solution. Is it a rolling tool cabinet, or is there a better photo and video storage solution out there?
    We all think that you need high end gear, kit that costs thousands. Well you don't. You can make awesome videos for brands from your home with the gear you have. This video, along with the playlist I have created on how to shoot and edit product commercials proves that even on a budget, even when just shooting from kitchen or living room, you too can create an epic product commercial at home.
    Filming product commercials at home doesn't need to be scary. My channel goes into the tips and tricks for product videography and you will gain the knowledge on how to make a professional commercial. Showing how you can shoot product commercials with a look into behind the scenes will hopefully inspire you to get your camera out and start shooting.
    If you are keen to use similar equipment to what I have shown, all my gear is listed below.

    Soooo, is there a better solution than the rolling tool chest shown in the video? Let me know if you have seen anything that may be more suitable.

      I have that same one, it’s great. The drawers are a tiny bit hard to close, being designed for heavier things, but really it’s fine. I’m thinking of getting a second one as my studio is in another house and this looks as good in a home as in a garage. It is heavy (130kg empty) and mine was delivered on a crane. I call it my gentleman’s credenza.

      @@ForgottenTasmania thanks for this. Great that you have the same one so I can ask questions 😂 are the top drawers just 60mm deep? Trying to plan what items can go where

    • @ForgottenTasmania

      All the drawers are 380mm deep inside. Soft foam on the bottom. Feel free to vid chat and I can show you.

      Sorry, I meant yes 60mm high.

      Maybe get two high school style lockers in good shape to sit beside the tool chest for the taller items like stands and tripods? They'll have to be in good shape probably, or get a similar type of tall cabinet if an actual locker doesn't fit your style. Sorry if "locker" doesn't mean locker in true English 😸

      I'm now moved in for the past week. It is so nice to have my own space away from house life. Will take some time to get it just the way I want but very happy so far. Hopefully I'll do an update in the near future.

    Awesome vid James! I'm just turning my spare room with a desk into my office space, looked those units too.
    I can't afford one of those bad boy tool units, so I'm building a static (not fancy height adjusting) standing desk.
    Looking forward to seeing how your space turns out sir.
    Keep doing the incredible!

    • @JamesKellyStudio
      @JamesKellyStudio  2 года назад +1

      Awesome. What size room are you working with? I really hope mine is large enough for what I have planned. There’s something about that tool cabinet I like, not sure if it is the perfect solution but struggling to find anything else which can keep EVERYTHING in one organised place

      I saw those husky and other american only options @@JamesKellyStudio, I'm working with a standard sized spare bedroom, so nowhere near the space you will have sir. I'm just thankful I have a door to close to keep the noise down 😂. How are you getting any work done in that kitchen! That's even more incredible!

      Just wanted to say I have started creating a mini series going from the basics and cheap gear, all the way to more expensive light setups in an aim to produce something epic at the end. Hopefully it will help when it drops soon 👍

    This is great content! Please vlog the entire build and the way you’re gonna set it up. I don’t know any alternative, in my future studio there is a small walk in closet to store all my gear, but your solution is the best you can get I think! The only tip I can think of: black friday is only 3 weeks out, if you don’t have to rush everything you can save a lot of money! 💪🏼

      Black Friday is DANGEROUS! I'm already eying up way too much gear 😂

    • @ThijsGoedegebuure
      @ThijsGoedegebuure 2 года назад +1

      @@JamesKellyStudio I was looking for Konova P1 since it is cheap and has great motorized parallax. But then I found a used Zeapon e600 for very cheap and bought that one, similar quality as Edelkrone but cheaper!

    • @JamesKellyStudio
      @JamesKellyStudio  2 года назад

      @@ThijsGoedegebuure boom! I’m about to pull the trigger on the Zeapon E800 snd get the PONS head with it too. I had both Rhino and Edelkrone in my basket at one point but £3k is just sooooo much once you’ve got the parts needed. Got a client job that starts in a couple of weeks and all my ideas need a slider so if this one works then it’ll be worth the money straight away 👍

    • @JamesKellyStudio
      @JamesKellyStudio  2 года назад

      Yeah it’s going ahead full steam. Almost too quickly for me to document it 🤣 Annoyingly I have lots planned to upload on the build and kit out of the space, but typically lots of client work has dropped in and takes priority, yet again 😔 Will certainly try and upload a part 2 when I can, just know it will be moving in time probably before I even get chance to do the progress updates

      Arhhhh the pressure of being a 'youtuber' .... I totally get it 'client work comes first'.... no pressure, just keen to watch your progression!... best of luck that the vision all comes together ... maybe you should have made a 'storyboard' to go with it!
