Who are the idiots who give Simon a thumbs down? He's one of the most gifted players on RUclips and otherwise. His expertise in amp and pedal building is among the best in the world. Absolute genius engineer and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Try designing an amp like him, it can't be done. Idiots have no knowledge of amps or musicians for that matter..... Keep playing and building Simon, you are awesome!!!!
The only thing I don't like about this guy, is that he told me it will be SIX years before he can build me a BAILEY!! Now, that ain't right!! I'm 71, now ... Simon says ... "You can't have one kid ... "
Fantastic plexi tone best I've heard, if I buy one do I get an instruction manual? When you say direct to the power amp, does that mean you use the send and return from the effects loop of your amp? thanx
Either you use a dedicated power amp or you plug into the effects return if your amp has an effects loop....or you use it to push another pedal that breaks up well, like the Kingsley Page..
Seeing as this is a preamp, does it react well to having boost pedals, say like a Suhr Koko boost, or Xotic rc boost, in front? Also, the delay we hear at 9:13, is simply between the Constable and the Keep?
+Millo1868 Yes, the Constable reacts very well to being pushed by boost pedals. It also functions very well as a full featured boost in its own right - you can use it to push a pedal or an amp into overdrive with excellent results. At 9.13 the delay is added to the mix with Logic software.
Hard to hi- jack a lesson out of this video.,, lol. Great tones... my pedalboard is for an awakening Just got on the 7 mo waiting list... I’ll be ok until then...
page or page ds? What is a good combination pedal with constable? I love constable pedal. But I don’t know combination. Jester, Juggler, Jouster. What is recommended with constable ?
There is no single best way to go. However, I like pushing the Constable with the Page, the Serf or the new Peasant....but for smoother and a more compressed, creamy tone look at the Minstrel into the Constable.
PPIMV Thank you so much for your answer. I want to make sound like Jimi Hendrix rhythm guitar tone. I have thd bivalve amp, but bivalve is not plexi style. If I use constable to make the Jimmy Handrix sound, what Kingsley pedal would you recommend? And is the pedal in front of the constable or later?
where can i order here in Canada? i heard u guys are Canadian? but i dont see any site online...helpnme pls...im Interested to buy one of this Amazing tube preamp pedal thanks
.....I really would love to hear it in front of an amp (guitar input) without The Page...with the master switch to the left. Is there any review using it like that? Thanks!!
Hi Simon, I was wondering why this pedal is called The Constable and if it has anything to do with Andy Summers (The Police) and the way he used his Marshalls.
Only because it is a British style "plexi" preamp...while the word Constable is not only British of course, I tend to associate it with the traditional English police man. It sort of fits in with the theme that we use for our product names....no Andy Summers association though..
This sounds AMAZING.. not "pedal" sounding at all. Simon… if this is running into a clean Germino Club 40 ( jmp 50 ) would you be able to get the internal tubes cooking and dirty or is all this dirt coming from the Page?
Gotta say Simon, that I'm guessing that the strat is your first love guitar and it sounds awesome. However, this 335 is simply stunning and you play it with a lot of passion and it sure shows. If I had to pick your best tone and that's a rough one, I'd lean toward this 335, it's certainly a gem of a guitar and has some of the best tones I've heard in a long time. Esp in the rhythm position, it just "howls", what a sweet guitar indeed. Thank you my friend for the pedals, they arrived safely yesterday. I'll be in the studio tomorrow and working with them and a new board and power supply stack. Cheers my friend. Keep those killer tones coming....really enjoy it while I work on my pedal board it's playing in the background. Three thumbs up!! G
Yes, the Stat is sort of home for me....but when I got the 335 it quickly became a real favourite. The neck pickup position sounds rich but not too bass heavy - it's become an addictive sound for me. Hope the pedals work out well for you!
12:28 is a Gary Moore (my idol) type lick. Cuts right through you......superb vibrato..... shortly after that is the sustain that we all want. What a kick a$$ tone.....reminds me of my 74 Plexi I use. Great tone.....ok, that's enough , checks in the mail right? Lol.... G
You can contact us through our site: www.kingsleyamplifiers.com However, I should say that amps are extremely back ordered right now, but please send an email if you would like to learn more...thanks, Simon Jarrett
@@PPIMVI shall pop you an email this weekend. I'm after either the Jester or Cinstable. But I'd like to explain what kind of sound I'm after with some examples and you may be able to advice me in the right direction?
+bulldogfight Well, not quite..... vol 1 is the same as the bright channel on a plexi amp and vol 2 is the same as the darker or more bass heavy input on a plexi amp. A lot of users use channel 1 and vol 1 for that classic bright, cutting crunch on a Plexi - this is the same as using vol 1 on the Constable. Others like to blend channel 1 and channel 2 by using a Y cable or a jumper cable on a plexi amp...with then Constable you do this with the "mode" switch....in this way you can think of vol 1 being a control for the upper mid and treble gain, whereas vol 2 is a control for the bass gain. In a sense you are right though (but backwards), as ch1 does give the classic plexi crunch and ch 2 is often used more for cleans because it is a lot fatter...
@@PPIMV thanx for your kind reply. Actually I noticed that the plexi tone is there! But I didn't know the presence control was after the preamp section. Is it the same in a JCM800 model? Thanx!

Amazing blues tones
Holy Grail or Holy Crap. Wicked tones and it's a frigging pedal. Sweet!
That is some sick playing 😮
Jesus what tone what playing! Just bought mine used on reverb, must have me one of these!
This is scrumptious.
The preamp sounds great. The playing is even better. Great demonstration Simon!
Thanks Gary!
Your playing is quite simply beautiful! :)
Absolute outstanding player, Sound and pedal and fine description👌
Awesome diversity and swing to your playing man!
Thanks Will!

PPIMV Hi Simon, great video! Did you ever do part 2 for this like you mention?
Yes please.
With The feel & tones coming from the Kingsley preamp pedals format mated to a power amp pedal/rack...
My heavy amp head might have to go!
Shiz Simon :) That´s sounds GOOD !!!
Sam Vilo Thanks Sam - I really enjoy your demos - excellent playing!

My name just came up after 7months. Its in transit!! You can do it! Hold on and you’ll get it soon!
Jeez Simon.
This video is not fair.
You'd make my crappy Marshall MG great sounding.
Great great video.
Thanks
GREAT sounding pedal and excellent playing! What year 335 is that? Looks like a long guard. It sounds terrific.
Thanks Shaun - the 335 is a custom shop '58 reissue..

Hi Simon great video! I suppose running the constable into an EL34 power amp would result in an even more authentic plexi tone?
Well a plexi power amp will be the closest, not necessarily the EL34s that make the biggest difference - more the circuit design itself...

Presence control?
The presence control is part of the power amplifier - not the preamp.

Yes - the presence control is pretty much always part of the power amp in general, including all Marshall designs. Cheers, Simon@@miguellopez106
