My take:
I waited for this pedal for a year. It was worth the wait. Gorgeous, transparent-yet-full-of-character low gain sounds for daaaayyyyzzzz. Sounds fantastic with anything I throw at it. Could easily be an always-on pedal. Extremely dynamic. Need I say more?? Get on the waiting list.
Guitar:
2011 Fender 60th Anniversary Modern Thinline Telecaster
Amps:
Jackson Newcastle 30 + 1x12 closed-back cab (Celestion Gold 50w)
Benson Monarch + Benson 2x10 open-back cab (2x Celestion Gold 40w)
Amazing pedal. A lot of clarity and dynamics. Very versatile too. I use it almost always on with a very clean amp. It adds something more to my others overdrives. It makes better my other pedals.
Contrats man! You have a killer tone! We love your review and the 50 mm style takes on the pedal are amazing!
love your playing, ive ordered one!
I keep coming back to this video about once a month ever since getting on the waitlist haha man... can’t wait! Great demo.
Jeff Roalson haha love that. If it’s any consolation, Sept 2020 update it is still absolutely my favorite overdrive - such gorgeous sounds come from this thing
Aaron Sternke Awesome - glad to hear! Do you use it before or after your other dirt pedals? I’m assuming after if you’re doing more of a traditional volume boost?
Jeff Roalson honestly I use it more like a traditional overdrive, and I’ve got it first or second in my drive pedal chain. I think the strength of this thing is the delicious FLAVOR it adds to your tone... I think of it less like a boost and more like a flavor-y low gain overdrive. I use my KLON type drive last as my more traditional “boost”
Aaron Sternke Oh cool! That’s good to hear as well cause that’s how I was hoping to make use of it. Just gotta hurry up and wait!
@@jeffroalson1915 don’t worry! You’ll get there. I got on the waiting list and my name has just come up yesterday. Your turn will come up soon!!!
Great review! I love the Page. You should also try the Squire 86. It’s got awesome Vox ef86 style tone. You could also get creative and run the Squire 86 into the Page then into the front of your amp - that way you would be utilizing the Page as a power amp per say. You can get some really nice overdrive that way.
Mine is at the PO and will pick it up soon this week.
Thanks for the video, confirms what I knew already.
I also leave mine on all the time. Turn off your compressor and try a fuzz like the Fallout Cloud in front of the Page - simply amazing!
Have one of these on the way. I was on the wait list for one and I happened to order another pedal called the Serf that someone had just cancelled for... so they let me have them both early!! apparently happens rarely only a few times a year they said. Can't wait for my Page!
I recently got a serf and am absolutely loving it. Running it at end of chain as an always on enhancer replacing the preamp from the full-tone tube tape echo I used to run that I eventually decided was too big to lug about. The serf does the same job, perhaps even better, as it has a few more tweaking options. And it's tiny :)
Good review, nicely done. I love my Kingsley Page!
Now that’s a good Tele tone.
I’ve yet to turn mine off.
Thanks for the video, do you have other boost pedals to compare them? So we can see what the pedal is capable of further than other boost pedals
getn a page in the mail just had try one then the revival tremolo!
Great choices!
Sounds like my new combo of pedals! Nice!
Hi man, could you do a review between Kingsley Page and 29Pedals JFET?✌🏼
Hi Aaron, Was wondering what amp you were playing thru and your signal chain. Trying to decide between /and hear the differences between the Page and the Page D, ect. All Simon's pedals sound so good and dynamic.
Sounds AWESOME !!! Thanks Aaron, Jack ...
Jack Zawacki thank you! I was playing through my Jackson Newcastle 30 + my Benson Monarch! Signal chain is Newcastle - 1x12 Celestion Gold cab - Royer 121 - Vintech X73i - Pro Tools // Monarch - 2x10 Celestion Gold cab - Avantome CR14 - Vintech X73i - Pro Tools
@@AaronSternke Thanks Buddy, Awesome !!!
Hi Jack I spoke to Simon about this and there are currently 2 versions of the Page. The regular Page and the Page DS. The DS is designed to be put after a preamp such as the squier or the maiden and run together with that pedal through the fx loop to create a dumble like circuit and sound. The regular page is designed more for the front of amp use and can be used for boost or a light overdrive lead sound. To my ears, the regular page can definitely achieve some nice dumbley tones too.
How would this page pedal sound/feel if I went DI into my recorder or interface?
@@artspiritfineartstudiogall9672 you could likely get a very good / workable sound, but I believe it sounds best into the front end of an amp
Kingsleys rule
Nice demo!! Totally different question: is that desk a Output Perform? Which color is it? I am doubting between the two dark colors and this might help me make my decision. Thanks for your answer!
Hey! Yes I have an Output desk - the color is Kodiak Brown! GREAT desk
Aaron Sternke thanks for your answer Aaron, much appreciated!!! I was thinking about that color indeed to order myself too, but was only doubting if it would be too much antique brown or more towards a bit more modern black brown. In you video that last one seems to be the case. Really nice!!!
Is that a Page or a Page Ds? Try to make up my mind on one!
Al Lakazoo it’s a Page! (Non DS)
@@AaronSternke I just had this conversation with Simon, on the two switches on top, the DS has 3 positions and the non DS has 2 positions. Either way, they are similar pedals.
The regular Page is like a very light overdrive or dirty boost designed to go in front of your amp. On the other hand, the Page DS is based on the overdrive channel from a Dumble Overdrive Special, and it's designed to go after a clean preamp of some kind (either in the FX loop of your amp or after a clean preamp pedal). The Page is a very nice dirty boost pedal and the Page DS is a full-on preamp, basically. The name is the only thing they have in common.
What happened to the Kingsley Peasant demo?
I don't have one! :-)
Pretty intro song. What is it?
I wrote it!
It reminds me of 'Over and over' by Joe Walsh.
why does it sound so dry and boring unlike other demos
Couldn’t disagree with you more. It sounds wonderful.
It really sounds great, but maybe you are missing reverb or delay
