Same my mom just simply says we will talk about it when you can get a job good thing is I will be 14 next month and will be able to get a job at the grocery store near us
absolutely love the fact that you supported buying used and cheaper things!! I feel like a lot of RUclipsrs are able to afford a lot of luxuries that most cannot and its hard to find videos with practical advice! thank you!
I have watched this video, over and over. I have been riding for eight years, and my dream is coming true! My horse is being delivered in a few weeks :) -KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I have been taking lessons since I was three!!! I'm 11 now. I know how to do everything I've been to camps too!! At the lessons we go over brushing, feeding, putting saddles on, and thirty minutes of riding including trots, walking, and galloping!!! I've been looking at stalls, different hay companies, tack, saddles, and brushes!! Also I added everything( including the horse) up for what I need to begin taking care of the horse and it cost less then what my PARENTS had to pay for my sisters BIRD!!!!!
#AskingMaya - when did you first start riding and what made you want to start? - what do you like to do in your spare time apart from riding? - do you think you will ever get another horse? And keep Luna 😁 Love you 😘
I've got my barn, bedding, 6 acres to roam, grooming supplies, picked out vet and ferrier, and many other necceceties. I found a horse to get! He will be my first! We are going to go get him in a few days! So excited!
I made a little list that you SHOULD buy before getting your horse: A stable (no kidding?) Basic caring supplies (grooming stuff) Tack (if your horse is broken) Bedding Hay Grain Salt lick haulter (just in case if the one that comes with your horse breaks, or is in bad condition.) Lead rope Buckets as needed Optional: try to find a room in your barn you could convert into a feed room so that theres no messes everywhere.
I suggest a few vet wraps, gauze, and pvp for any cuts and such. I shadow at a vet's office and just incase your horse gets any unexpected cuts it will hold up at least to the clinic!
So I just watched a video from a 280 pound bodybuilder explaining what you need for his drugged up training and this was in the list for the recommended videos... This video was still quite entertaining, even tho I dont want a horse. And the music at the end was nice so i guess I subscribe.:)
bathing supplies, leg protection such as sport boots, polo wraps, splint boots etc, having a good farrier and vet, and also little things like fly spray, wound care spray .. are also some things to :)
When buying a horse see if you can buy the tack, grooming kit and other things off them as sometimes it can cost less and you know it fits. As don't spend too much money on things you won't as it can affect how you can afford the things you need. Just enjoy this new adventure, and don't get stressed as your new horse will pick up on this.
Some stuff that i found that is good to have on hand is about 6 vet wrap i know that sounds like a lot but my horse has an abuses right now and he needs to wrapped everyday, alushield which is a sliver spray that is a banged it keeps the fly's out of any cuts that your horse may have, this is a ticker i learned baby dappers for the wrap and duct tap. Those are all things my instructor wants me to have for my horse. hope this helps anyone new to owning or leasing a horse. i lease my horse.
Hey Maya, For your Q+A can you please answer these questions: 1. What was the name, height, colour, breed etc. of the first horse you rode? 2. What size rug, saddle, halter is Luna? 3. What has been your biggest comp so far? 4. What style of riding do you enjoy most? 5. What is Luna's colour (The colours you use on her)
That bird is too darn cute. xD I wish my birds trusted me like that. Also, is it wrong that I have a half-lease (my project, is a lesson pony owned by my trainer,) and with that I have an obsessive amount of stuff most people with privately owned horses have? xD Stuff I have -Saddle pads (like. . .four.) -Bathing kit -Grooming kit -Treats -Halter (friend-who-loves-him-and-rides-him-in-lessons-sometimes bought it) -Lead Ropes (much many lead ropes.) -Bonnet -Like four freaking sets of polos (can never have too many.) -Bridle -Nice-ass western suede saddle (got it and the western bridle for $75--pad and shank bit included.) -Two different types of bits . . .I ride english, however, I ride my half-lease western as well; so I privately own everything having to do with western and borrow english stuff. xD
I'm getting my first horse in a few days and I'm so nervous! I'm not inexperienced, but I feel like people on RUclips have all these things for their horses and I don't have everything that they have! So I was worried that I needed to go out and buy all of this stuff, but watching your video put me at ease a little bit. I'm pretty sure I have everything I need for now, thank you! (Oh and I love your bird!)
Thank You For Them Helpful Tips. Me And My Mum Are Saving Up For A Horse, I Have Been Riding For 4 Years Now. With A Little Help From My Auntie Who Owns 2 Horses. I Am Super Excited To Be Saving Up. And I Am Definitely Buying Little Things First.
i got my first horse the other day! shes a 15 year old ottb ( i have ridden ex race horses before, and i have also ridden ex trotters.) shes very sweet on ground and only wants to go fast if you get her in a fast canter! she came with a blanket, and someone is lending us their halter that she came in ( i have two but they said we could use it).
One thing I have learned over the years of horse ownership, tack swaps!!! They are the best for getting things at discounts, but make sure everything is in good condition. For the saddle, have a saddle fitter out to measure & try on different ones. I have learned not buy a saddle online because some people are dishonest about fit.
I like how some people think I'm rich bevause I have a horse now... I promise... I'm not... my horse costed 400 bucks and I got a full tack set for 150 bucks... a new western synthetic tack set. But, it is a great set. Then there are other people who say they aren't rich yet they have like 5 really nice saddles ;-; and pay a huge board... have millions of different things... so I'm like... mkay...
i hate it when people act like they are so rich when they buy a horse and they have a nice saddle, i got a little s hackamore and bits from a moving sale the guy just gave them to me, i paid $75 for a new saddle at a moving sale which was an incredible deal but i do have to say that it was a pain in the but breaking it in, my legs hurt so bad. i got a full tack set from a lady i didn't even know, she saw my comment on her ad about how i liked it and she just sent it to me. than my horse character was raised on the farm and he was given to me by my dad after he was broke to ride which was no cost to me so i got very lucky :)
Thanks! My horse is coming next week!!!!!!! Eeeeakkkk!!!! This video really helped. But the owner gave me the tack with the horse, so..... I guess that makes it easier for me. I only need to buy a grooming kit and a lead rope + a halter.
in my barn you dont have to get a grooming kit or a halter and lead rope. they give you all that stuff. You would only need to buy a blanket, the tack and thats it. I live in spain.
have you got any horse riding tips like to sit in a correct position or a tip to help remember what everything is called and can you do a vidio on how to be a better rider
Here in Australia you can buy saddles from a Facebook site called show horses. I am a show rider and I ride in a county competitor and it is amazing but it is very expensive I would totally recommend buying an expensive saddle they help you to sit properly. Also for your first horse do not buy a race horse that has been off the track for only a short amount of time they won't make learning to ride very easy at all.❤️🐴
hey I love your videos by the way I was wondering wether you could tell me what rug you think I should get for my first horse x I live in wales where it can be really hot and then really rainy the next dayx I was thinking of a medium weight turnout and a fleece? xx
i am soon going to get my first horse but before i get my self to hyped up i searched for lots of horses and the tools and equipment and i have enjoyed sooo much learning horse back riding and i am sure that there are more things to learn but i still dont have quiet enough hopefully by 6 months or even more i will have enough (nice video by the way)
my dad bought me a dressage saddle and a bridle before i even had a horse. It honestly didnt make any sense but now all i need is to break my horse and get a bigger girth. Maybe ill end up selling my girth because it is small. Although i never used it and it the whole set was every expensive.
Maya, My mum owned a horse she still has 4 lead ropes, 2 halters, a bridle, all brushes hoof pick and curry comb and a saddle all in great condition but I'm not sure what type of blanket to get, any suggestions?
I recommend buying a saddle from Amazon I got mine for $100 and it is amazing quality it's beautiful and it's very sturdy basically but expensive tack on Amazon
#AskingMaya do you have any tips on sitting the canter as I'm having trouble doing so because of how uneven my horse's stride is. Thank you! You and Luna are awesome!
I'm so excited!!! We are looking for a house to move in and there is a house with 24 acres of land, a horse barn, a pond, a nice house, a pasture, and if we move there I can get a horse!!! I've wanted a horse my whole life and I might be getting one at my house!!! I'm not trying to brag in any way I'm just so excited.
Some owners will sell the tack that they used on the horse with the it and if this is a possibility the it really helps because its priced second hand and it fits!!!!!
In August of 2019 I'm getting a horse so of right now there are five more months and I've been doing for the past 3 days lots and lots and lots and lots of research because 4 days ago we went to a horse show so I got a bunch of magazines and everything and I'm curious where did you get your saddle like if you don't mind me asking cuz I've been searching everywhere and the ones that I find that I actually like or like $925 or $995 like girl that is very expensive and yes this horse is my life and I am financially stable and I'm also time my time stability it's amazing cuz I I'm homeschooled so I have like time during the whole entire day so I could be with my horse 24/7 but like I was saying what brands do you recommend for things like tack Weis? Recommend a stable ball like the balls that you would buy from like Tractor Supply or I don't know I can't think of another horse store right on the spot but would you recommend one or would they be like a no-go?
Can we just take a moment to appreciate her bird? ♥
LouisianaEquestrian♥ hahaha yes she deserves the appreciation ;)
She is amazing :) What is her name?

#AskingMaya I know its none of our business really, but do you still talk and ride with Lauren? :)
#AskingMaya - when did you first start riding and what made you want to start?

- do you think you will ever get another horse? And keep Luna 😁
Love you 😘

#askingmaya any tips for moving barns and how to deal with barn brats?
Bebe Dallas omg there are so many brats at my place because they're so spoilt
Getting my first horse this Saturday after 10 years of riding! So excited! This video helped a lot!
You posted this at the best time as I just got my "first horse"( I'm full time leading him:)
I made a little list that you SHOULD buy before getting your horse:
A stable (no kidding?)
Basic caring supplies (grooming stuff)
Tack (if your horse is broken)
Bedding
Hay
Grain
Salt lick
haulter (just in case if the one that comes with your horse breaks, or is in bad condition.)

+paul walla HAHAHA yea I was watching Rich Piano and saw this too lmao!! I came to troll though!
Lol😂
Rich Piana? Lol same here
I give my horse 700 scoops of hay everyday cause I have to always overdo everything
hu ha you don't scoop hay...
bathing supplies, leg protection such as sport boots, polo wraps, splint boots etc, having a good farrier and vet, and also little things like fly spray, wound care spray .. are also some things to :)

This was really helpful, as I am getting my first loan pony in a couple of days :)
Your bird is so cute and this video helped me a lot
I know this is super old but I’m watching these videos because I’m getting my horse on Monday 😍 I’m SO excited 😭😁

You should do a video on how to do polo wraps!
Loved it, even though I already have had a horse for almost three years. Please please please do more vlogs, I absolutely love them!!!
#AskingMaya Are you going to take Luna to college, and what do you plan to study? Thanks :)
Hey Maya, For your Q+A can you please answer these questions:

-Grooming kit
-Treats
-Halter (friend-who-loves-him-and-rides-him-in-lessons-sometimes bought it)
-Lead Ropes (much many lead ropes.)
-Bonnet
-Like four freaking sets of polos (can never have too many.)
-Bridle
-Nice-ass western suede saddle (got it and the western bridle for $75--pad and shank bit included.)
