Magnificent. There's no-one, on any sailing channel, indeed any other channel at all, who is posting anything that quite hits home with me the way your stuff does, fellah ... long may it continue. I sit here, late at night, and I have tears of joy watching your journeys - you are the living embodiment of Hope. Keep on keeping on, my Viking friend. Much brotherly love to you, and to Silje too of course.

Erik, another excellent video and I'm glad to see you took care of some maintenance items before departing. Funny thing is, you and I have done similar repairs this year.
I was having problems with my shifter and throttle Morse assembly too, and mine required me to take the levers apart, clean them of the old grease that had turned to like glue, then reinstall and make some adjustments. I have two levers: one for the transmission and the other for the throttle and when you would pull the transmission lever back, it also pulled the throttle lever back. Now it's fixed and works like new.
I also installed a jam cleat system on the reefing hooks for the mainsail at the mast. Before, I had to put the hook in the sail, pull it down, and then tie it off on a cleat on the mast but now I pull it down and then pop the line into the jam cleat and it's done!
I also need to look at replacing my mainsail traveler. It's 47 years old now. Works, but it's really stiff. You gave me a good idea of what to look for.
I'm liking the new storm sail. You really need it and it's good that it hanks onto the staysail standing rigging, moving the center of effort closer to the boat's 'center of lateral resistance', which will reduce your 'weather helm'. I have something similar but it hanks onto the forestay because I don't have a staysail rig, and this sail is extra heavy dacron with wire reinforcing on the leech and luff. Bulletproof! I did crew on a Jason 35 staysail rigged sailboat for a few years and used it in heavy weather. Loved it!
Glad to see Tiger is back on watch, keeping an eye out on you and Tessie! Say 'hello' to Silje too...
BTW, I've done about 1000 miles sailing this year, which included 600 miles of off shore sailing a 46' Hunter sailboat from a little town here in SE Alaska, all the way to Port Townsend, Washington. I'll be working on my own video of this in the weeks ahead.
Looking forward to the next video in the series to Greenland!
