My Méxican girlfriend and I went to Cancun. I'm English. I had no idea about the toilets and that was probably the biggest shock I had. Hahaha. My girlfriend found that hilarious 👀 Other than that, México was truly beautiful. I was fortunate to see many places on my visit. The people are so much kinder than here. I recommend anyone to visit there. I can't wait to go back! Though I don't miss the roads 😅
Muchas gracias por tu vídeo. I traveled to Mexico numerous times between 2004 and 2013, and made friends in Sonora and Veracruz. On my first tour the Mexican guide warned everyone in my tourist group as we stopped in Chiapas not to take photographs without first asking permission, and always expect a "no" from the adults, but the youngsters would probably be more agreeable to having their photos taken. Very wise advice, (as one very arrogant French man learned to his cost). And actually the children were friendly, happy and fascinated to see themselves on my digital camcorder screen. The older adults were extremely suspicious of having their photos taken, and nearly all refused. Understandable when you know their history. The same guide jokingly asked us to refrain from calling any senoritas "mi mango" if we did want to end up married to a local girl. Also the tap water in Cordoba, Veracruz is not potable, I was called "loco" by the locals when I attempted to drink tap water, but the discolouration and bits of cockroaches I saw in the tap water soon made me stop. Yes, I have used public toilets in Cordoba, that had signs about not flushing, but I was already aware of that as I was staying with a local family where the toilet paper was placed in a bin each day and then disposed as rubbish early each morning. Which was far different to my stays at the Fiesta Americana in Mexico City or the "All inclusive hotels" in Cancun. My favourite Mexican Cities are still Campeche and Merida, and the food in those places are delicious. I still struggle to hold a long conversations in Spanish, but that is because the natives speak "muy rapido", and my brain hits a brickwall sometimes in translating their words and slang. But I have made a lot of progress from those early trips. Keep up the good work.
Turkish side of Cyprus has the same toilet rules; thanks for the video we are heading to Zihua next week and your video has been a wonderful primer on manners.
I think rule #7 is true anywhere in the world, not just Mexico. Foreigners are NOT allowed to disrespect whatever country they happen to be visiting, it's just a good idea not to trash your hosts or anything of theirs.
¡Hola Paulisima! I have visited Mexico many times because of my interest in pre-columbian civilisations and societies such as Maya, Toltecs, Aztecs, Olmec, Mextica etc. I have met many wonderful people from Sonora in the North to Cancun in the South. I would not advise anyone to drink tap water in Cordoba, Veracruz. And yes, all public toilets and domestic toilets (except hotels) have buckets, and signs not to flush "papel de baño) or the house-owners will advise accordingly. Good video and sensible advice. My number one rule, always be respectful of local people and their rules and guidelines. Chiapas is a prime example, wonderful people, but if they say no to taking photographs or camcorder videos, just except the fact that you are a "guest" in their country and comply with their requests. Actually most young people will agree to photographs if asked politely.
Me gusta tus videos con mas español, gracias! I like the signs with the Spanish phrases, please leave them on the screen longer~ You have a great smile!
My wife and I were in Chapala this January for 2 weeks. The owner of the AirBnB asked us to not put paper in the toilet. We also used bottled water while there. We loved the area and we're moving the at the beginning of May for at least 1 year.
If you are outside of the tourist areas, you may encounter Banos where there are no seats or flushing mechanisms. Usually, there will be a large container of water nearby with a small bucket. Scoop water and pour it into the toilet, and it will flush. The first time I ran into this, a little girl showed me what to do. And if something is confusing, ask for help. People are very kind.
The first time I visited San Miguel, my landlady told me not to do it. The building is old & near Centro. Also, I lived on a large boat for some time& I did not flush the paper! Now, in my neighborhood in San Miguel, some people do and some people don’t. I have gotten in the habit, so I don’t!
3;03 So mexico does not have a water works system like other countries. and if a block of ice is solid blue, do not drink from it. few places use cisterns.
It's funny, I live FT in an RV and most of us who live in RVs never put toilet paper in the toilet. We have a little covered garbage bin by the toilet. I've also seen that in the Philippines.
I built our house in rural Pennsylvania which required a well and leach bed. Our home for 30 years we never flushed paper and never had a problem either. I think it should be a universal standard. No big deal.
JUST ASKING.... If you have to throw "dirty" toilet paper into a trash can, doesn't it smell bad in the bathrooms? It isn't emptied for awhile, it must get pretty bad in a closed room... No?
Living in southeast Asia specifically in the Philippines and not throwing paper in the toilet bowl is very common in other terms those whose just crazy will definitely do that hahaha
yes the toilet paper in the bin is very common. after living in Asia, I became very use to this, but they also use bum guns/bidets, which is a marvelous invention that I wish existed everywhere!
i have been blessed to travel and not flushing paper in the toilet is in most of the world... it seems its only common to throw paper into the toilet is in the u.s.
I was a teacher at a preschool which had many children who only spoke spanish. One little girl would always throw her t.p. into the trash can instead of down the toilet.
I get grossed out by someone leaving a brown mark on a public toilet bowl. Im not sure how I would survive a bucket of pooh stains... 🤮. A very useful tip, that way I now know I need to do all my toiletting before going out.
Qué No Hamburguesas? Me Favoritos! Don't be Afraid of the Water, hilarious, hahahaha!!!!🤣🤣🤣 Jo conoce me Latín Español muy bien y regalo me Latín gente en todo él paisos mundo anchor o mundialo, y gracias mucho por de educados maestra, Vayas con Dios y pue él Cielos Blessa tu, Amén!🙏❤
I grew up in a Mexican household in the US and the 1st time I found out when people throw toilet paper in the bin is when I invited Mexican guest and after the party is over I see a lot of paper just throw on the side lleno de (tú sabes) 😂 because my family don't do that but now some of them do but I still don't even when I go to Mexico. I haven't been to Mexico in 6 years but hopefully I'll go this summer but obviously not to do some ridiculo things what you said lol
I've seen the TP thing right here in California. Plenty of Mexicans are here, and some are fresh off the boat. But in areas near dariies you see this sigh a lot. (not to mention the stink of those soiled papers produce) But the TP might get loose and float in the wind to where a cow will find it and eat it. Thus soiling her milk. Que lastima!
Estoy aprendiendo español but it seems when native speakers speak they speak at a speed of 3 billion words a minute and I get lost. My ears need to learn to listen faster I guess. Gracias
Tacos dorados. Well, now you've made me to hungry to continue. I'll be back... Alrighty then I'm back... and seeing as she had to warn us not flip off religious sculptures. That means she probably knows of somebody who already has. This type of behavior is why every thing has to have warning labels on them.
4;10 old houses and buildings in the U.S. have old pipes and the smart people do not flush the paper. but toss it in bathroom trash can. idiots clog the toilets and why stores have no public toilets.
We can fly across the planet, we have rockets that go into space and we can EVEN increase the planets temperature with the cleanest running fossil fuel vehicles ever, but we can NOT create an adequate plumbing system to handle degradable toilet paper? We deserve to go the way of the dinosaurs! LOL
I'm sorry but you can't drink the water in Mexico, maybe a few place it's fine, the risk of being sick is too high for tourist, even the Mexican people don't drink it... not sure where you took your information...
As a citizen from the United States, I apologize (on behalf of U.S. Americans) for the past and in advance for this behavior. Public peeing, vandalizing, language entitlement and unsolicited cultural/political critique are things that U.S. Americans do all of the time-inside and outside of the U.S. It seems silly to have to give this advice but it literally happens all of the time. I just know it. jajaja.
Hey Christopher! Thanks for your comment :D I gotta say that my fellow Mexicans often misbehave when traveling abroad (specially true when it comes to international sports events hehehe)
LOL - Oh No! no hardshell tacos? You're too funny in your discussion of food. You mentioned California; I'm originally from California, and yes, much of what people call "Mexican Food" is not quite authentic.

I saw the bucket next to a toilet at a Denny's in Bakersfield California.
I wish I'd been more prepared for that visual
Turkish side of Cyprus has the same toilet rules; thanks for the video we are heading to Zihua next week and your video has been a wonderful primer on manners.
Tienes una sonrisa muy bonita! You are wonderful! Muchas gracias!
Good-informative!!!
Your videos are funny and enjoyable to watch.

GRacias Emiliano :D Tengo muchas ganas de conocer tu estado :D

You have a great smile!
I liked your lecture related to travel
This is very common to me as we have an old septic tank with older pipes and we do not flush paper for this reason. Even in the US. 😊
Excellent program on RUclips 👍
My wife and I were in Chapala this January for 2 weeks. The owner of the AirBnB asked us to not put paper in the toilet. We also used bottled water while there. We loved the area and we're moving the at the beginning of May for at least 1 year.

love this one. So glad you covered these points. Por fin!
Ambergris island Belize , don’t flush the toilet paper:-) Thanks for sharing.
Good sense of humor.
Can you please translate “te amo”?

So mexico does not have a water works system like other countries.
and if a block of ice is solid blue, do not drink from it.
few places use cisterns.
Heard about the no toilet paper in toilets from a number of RUclips channels. One of them was Wolters World.
That nationalist part was very true, dated a girl from Jalisco who was ready to die on that hill whenever criticism was levied at México
Love your handle BTW really funny! :D
7;27
dackoes or tockoes is there a difference between "t" and "d"
No papel en el toilet. All over Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Northern Arizona.
She's adorable 🥰
Me parece extraño.
You nailed this. Great lesson. Learn how to fold over the toilet paper in the can so it hides you know what. Haha.
OMG!!! I wish everyone had the common sense (and manners!) to do that!!!! It's like; we know what's there, but we don't HAVE TO see it!!! hahaha!!
Let's not generalize but most Mexicans throw the paper into the toilet
It's funny, I live FT in an RV and most of us who live in RVs never put toilet paper in the toilet. We have a little covered garbage bin by the toilet. I've also seen that in the Philippines.
@Paulísima from Spring Spanish Oh I see hahaha RV hahhaha sorry I totally missed on this one

I like to follow Mexican weather. Will the high today be 25, or 27, I must know.
I built our house in rural Pennsylvania which required a well and leach bed. Our home for 30 years we never flushed paper and never had a problem either. I think it should be a universal standard. No big deal.
I don't think mains water is stored in tanks, profe. Viene directo de afuera, no?
JUST ASKING....
If you have to throw "dirty" toilet paper into a trash can, doesn't it smell bad in the bathrooms?
It isn't emptied for awhile, it must get pretty bad in a closed room... No?
I've the flushing paper things, all over Colombia, ecuador y los otros paises.
no tires nada en la taza they said the same thing in Hong Kong Taiwan and Thailand
and learn the exchange rate,
what is it, divide USD by 14 and multiply by 7 for Pasos?
It’s about twenty pesos per 1 USD. Divide the amount of pesos by half and move the decimal one place and you have the equivalent in USD.
Living in southeast Asia specifically in the Philippines and not throwing paper in the toilet bowl is very common in other terms those whose just crazy will definitely do that hahaha
Don't drink the water NO MATTER WHAT
So if I drink from a TAZA, am I drinking toilet water or tea?
When I lived in Guatemala, it was a big no-no to put papel en la taza.
En Venezuela, Colombia, México, Perú, Ecuador... Cuando bajes a Latinoamérica, no lo hagas.
I had to pause the video at 1:10 and laugh for about 5 mins....🤣🤣
the button "Yes ... send me the Spanish Chunking Kit" doesnt work
yes the toilet paper in the bin is very common. after living in Asia, I became very use to this, but they also use bum guns/bidets, which is a marvelous invention that I wish existed everywhere!
i have been blessed to travel and not flushing paper in the toilet is in most of the world... it seems its only common to throw paper into the toilet is in the u.s.
I learned in Haiti not to flush the tp.
I seen first toliet paper basket . At tentants toilet room.
With shit on it 😂.
What other countries have you lived in?
We also do that birthday parties in America drink alcohol
I came here to mejorar mi Espanol; además yo encontré la profesora celestial y classes de Engles
And you just mentioned another good reason to move to the Jalisco area - burritos! Lol.
Love your channel!
I was a teacher at a preschool which had many children who only spoke spanish. One little girl would always throw her t.p. into the trash can instead of down the toilet.
Country Septic and children it is a must to not put paper in the toilet.
Chiquitito chiquitito Tlaxcala. XD

In India no flushing paper either. No problem.
Dicen Mexicanos "taza" en vez de inodoro?
Si
I saw the bucket thing next to the toilet when I was in Puerto Rico.
10:00
fish swim, mexicans drink
Wow! I was so tempeted to make a list of what not to do in the USA when you are from South of the Border. However, I don't want to hurt feelings.
Tacos dorados. Well, now you've made me to hungry to continue. I'll be back...

What if I said... "la hente mas hermosa en el mundo puede tirar su papel del baño en la taza no como mexicsnos". That's literally what you just said.
Be very afraid of the water, but bottled water.
Dont dont dont, every video. What CAN we do?
They seem to be "Mexi-cant's" instead of "Mexi-cans"...

LOL - Oh No! no hardshell tacos? You're too funny in your discussion of food. You mentioned California; I'm originally from California, and yes, much of what people call "Mexican Food" is not quite authentic.
