I just bought a new socket for my 2013 Prius, but I was not sure if I had to disconnect the battery or if there were a connector somewhere I could not see. Took me forever to find this video. Thank you!
? How do you remove the light bulb from the connector mine is stuck. Replaced the driver side but the passenger side is stuck in the connector. 2007 yukon
My bulbs look perfectly fine. A tiny bit of what i think is iron oxide dust on one bulb. But the filaments are intact & perfectly shiny. The bulb connecting tips are shiny and clean. The sockets they click into seem fine. Yet i have to smack my headlight lenses for the lights to function. Im guessing a bad ground somewhere near the bulb. Which made me think the sockets might be the next place to go. What do you think?
Bro bulb is $12 good quality Bro the connector is $15 Bro it will take u 10 minutes to splice and connect Bro you will save big headache finding that issue Lol in another words I would change the bulb to start with and move on to connector I see brand new shiny filament bulbs not work till u smack em
Seems really easy , would it also be the same progress if i were to fix the turn signal as well ? The wire is cut a little so im thinking i can just replace the connector without having to go to someone
Nobody discusses WHY these connections are melting. It appears that it comes down to being a bad industry design that would be outright illegal in the building construction trades. The bulbs are drawing more amperage than the design allows for so of course they are heating and melting.
@@RBTheMechanic I'm glad people have posted more on this thread because I've learned a thing or two since my last post and I could not before now find this video in my history to follow up on the topic. When I first posted I had a melted connector less than a week after I replaced it for the same reason which is what caused me to start investigating (hence why I found videos like this one). I discovered that the vehicle make was irrelevant to the problem, it could happen to any vehicle that uses the H11 bulb. When I replaced the connector the second time I was agitated enough to start taking a very close look at all of the parts involved. I discovered that the brand new H11 bulb I used at the last rewire job (only days prior) did not look quite right down inside where the pins come out of the bulb socket. The plastic housing did not seem to be formed 100% properly but this would be rather hard to tell without know what it is precisely supposed to look like or against comparative units. So for now I am forced to think that this is actually a manufacturers defect issue and that I just got unlucky for the frequency of occurrence. (I manage a small fleet of trucks so I would likely see this sort of thing more often than a typical consumer.) My only suggestions can be to very carefully check the parts you buy for anything that doesn't look quite right. LED's might be a solution for this but of that I am dubious and can not commit to it.
My headlight keeps popping out. I went to go put it in again and saw it was super melted! Which explains the melting plastic smell that keeps happening when i drive.
@@RBTheMechanic so my previous connector was melted I bought a new one installing the same way as in vedio. I installed the connector with the wires but it didn’t work. I guess maybe it’s the power that is at fault.
Your video was a huge help and saved me a ton of money taking on it DIY. Thank you!
Glad video help you and saved u money!!! Good job doing it yourself

No need to disconnect. Just everything off

It’s prolly melted togather

Yes u can
@RBTheMechanic much appreciative for the reply
I would also wrap the heat shrink connections in electrical tape to give more protection.
Yup

Beyond heat up before they go out
I’ve had the cheap Walmart lights burn even worse
@@fossilfountain use led bulbs it’s better with fans works well

wow you made it look easy thanks !
Welcome
Hello, can you make one for Camry 2017 Turn Signal?
If I get one of these come in with the problem
Gotta solder those buddy then heat shrink
My headlight keeps popping out. I went to go put it in again and saw it was super melted! Which explains the melting plastic smell that keeps happening when i drive.
Oh ok
Can I cut the cables of the connectorso I can replace it? Or is that gonna be a problem
U cut it and replace it with new one
What is the problem if they keep burning out?
Try better bulb
Thank you! Great video
Welcome!!
Do you have to disconnect the battery?
No
How can I tell which one is Negative ....?!
U would need wiring diagram if it’s black cable that’s usully negative other wise use volt meter to determine negative of postive
Is disconnecting battery a must?
No
@@RBTheMechanic thanks for reply
I just change it last week and it melted again do you know how this be fixed this and why is happening?
Ru using lights all day everyday?
@@RBTheMechanic No just at night time
@@raton2661did u figure this out?
Spend the money and try bulbs from the dealer. The ones you get at the auto parts place are the culprit sometimes.
Use crimps then heat shrink.
Fuck yeah!!! Thank you!! This is what imma do! Brother! You’re awesome!
Welcome!!
Didn’t work for me for my aftermarket headlights
Humm !!! What? What did u do. Did u replace the bulb? And check ur connections
Guess I must’ve done something wrong, mine isn’t working
Check fuses maybe it blew the fuse
And if it keeps blowing fuse then u crossed the wires which cause short circuit
I tried the same still not working.
Did u replace the bulb
@@RBTheMechanic I did but still it’s not working. I guess it’s fused.
@@RBTheMechanic what do you suggest how’d it be fixed
