someone in one of the Tundra FB groups said there was a setting to override this...some sort of motion and/or kids mode where it can be watched full-time regardless of gear selector position/vehicle moving. not sure and haven't verified...keep looking at this unit versus the more well-known brands (Sony, JVC, Pioneer, etc.). install and fitment into the truck looks gooooooood.
Thank you! The best place would be the A pillar but I like to mount the microphone underneath the steering column. It still works well there and it is out of sight. I will make a video for the front camera installation.
I have a 2012 Tundra and it is not wire for a camera but it is really easy to do. I have a video on this on my channel. This is the camera I installed. amzn.to/4gFOzYY
Was your stock stereo JBL? If so how does the audio compare to the JBL? I've had some nice Android head units in other vehicles that had horrible sound quality.
Really liked your video. You took your time explaining. I have a 2007 Tundra Ltd 5.7l Double cab. It has the JBL system installed when I bought it new back in 2007. The display is way out of date so I'm thinking of your unit. My system has the built in Mic located in overhead area. So when I make a phone call I click on the Steering control, which brings up the screen to select my pre-installed number. I select the number and the system makes the call. When the person answers I just speak, and the overhead mic picks up my voice. So my question is, is there a plug in in the back of the radio that alllows my over head mic to be plugged in? I do not want to use the supplied mic, of course, since I already have one nicely installed.
@Paulinaandjosh just watched both videos, I'm thinking about buying an older Tundra and was looking up upgrades and found your channel. Was wondering if you still happy with this unit. Thanks for the great videos
I bought the dasaita head unit and it is beautiful, my issue is the car audio is extremely bad. Do you have e issues with your car audio. I have the exact same truck as you do. I was gonna buy a new aftermarket microphone to see if that's the issue
The audio is good on mine. Are you talking about other people hearing you when you’re on phone calls? Dasaita provides an external mic that helps some. If you install an aftermarket mic let me know how it goes.
Yes, other people have problems hearing me, sounds like I'm super far away, some time distorted. The new mic came into today, once installed i will update you!
How do you secure the unit? The old radio bracket doesn’t fit so the only things holding the unit in place is the plastic clips. One big bump and unit pops out. I haven’t found a video of showing this and I think it’s a major flaw. What am I doing wrong?
Fortunately I haven’t had any issues with the head unit popping out. Mine is pretty secure with just the clips. Try pushing the wires further back and out of the way. It’s possible the wires are bunched up and pushing on the head unit. You could also order brackets for a single DIN and see if you can make that work.
hi, how is the low volume?? i heard on some stereos the lowest volume setting is still pretty loud and some people said itcwas hard for normal conversation and had to silence the radio completely since " 1 " was still slightly higher than it should be... please let me know, since my kids have sensitory problems with noises sometimes. thanks
@@Paulinaandjosh which unit is better? I ordered the viabecs based off your video, and then noticed that it was getting replaced by the this one… so now I feel like I got the wrong one
Android units are different than your standard head unit like Alpine or Pioneer. It is a apples to oranges comparison, similar but not the same. The main reason most people are moving towards Androids units is for a larger screen, Apple Car Play or Android Auto, much more user friendly and they tend to be cheaper. I would suggest watching some videos on Apple Car Play to see if those functions are important to you while driving. XM Radio would still work but it would play through Car Play.
I have had mine for close to a year. I have loved it. Now when I turn the car on the bottom lights come on but the display is just black. Any idea how to fix it or is it just done?
In the top left corner there is a little pin hole, that is the reset button. Hopefully that solves the problem. Where did you buy it? If you bought it on Amazon I would message the seller and get it replaced under the manufacturer warranty or you can message Amazon directly and get a new one. You can also purchase extended warranties through Asurion if you purchase on Amazon.
@@Paulinaandjosh I have pushed that button and it didn’t do anything. I purchased it straight from the dasaita website. Probably a huge hassle to try to get it replaced.
@@Paulinaandjosh there was another RUclips vid I commented on that provided a update for the unit. I put it on a flash drive and updated the unit last night and it seems to have fixed the problem for now. Thanks for your help
Go into the system settings and check for updates. CarPlay uses your phones internet so if you’re in an area with bad service it will be slow. You can also get a SIM card just for the head unit.
If you’re looking for peace of mind Amazon offers a protection plan from Asurion. I used Asurion to replace my laptop battery, they replaced the battery 100% free.
I got the same upgrade today, but confused how to hook up the back-up camera (factory) from the rear-view mirror to the new head unit. Advice? By the way, very informative video 🤙🏼
How do your turn off carplay on the unit? Sometimes i like to use regular bluetooth from the unit but i cant because its hooked up to car play. Then when i go over the speed limit the unit keeps telling me that im over the speed limit. Like bi**h i know i am lol 😂
Question: can you watch hulu, netflix, etc while driving or does it shut off when in gear?

Was your stock stereo JBL? If so how does the audio compare to the JBL? I've had some nice Android head units in other vehicles that had horrible sound quality.
I was not. Dasaita does make a different unit that is compatible with JBL. Without JBL speakers the sound quality is fine, could be better.

Thank you Tom! Yes you can use your existing mic. There is a AUX jack in the back of the head unit.
Excellent. Thank you !!!
Did your tundra come with the wire in the dash for the camera. Mine has the back up camera screen built into the rear view mirror
Mine didn’t. I have a basic rear view mirror without the back up camera screen.
Steering wheel control won’t work what do I do?
Great solid review and instructional video! Love that you showed us how to navigate the system and how to change displays
Much appreciated!

Can you adjust screen brightness ? At night some of those units are terribly bright
Yes, under Settings click "Display". There you can adjust brightness level or change to "Dark Mode". Thank you for watching!
Are all cables necessary to connect? Seem like way to many items even items i wont be using
For just standard operation there are cables that won’t be used.
Just installed this in my Tundra. Where do you ground the ground wire ?
After having both brands, which one would you recommend? I just bough an 08 Tundra and I’ve enjoyed your videos.
Hands down Dasaita! I will be installing a Dasaita head unit in a 4runner this weekend. Make sure to Subscribe so you can see that video!

How does the Bluetooth perform when making phone calls? Also, does this model fit a 2008 toyota Tundra that doesn't have stereo controls?
Yes this model will work for you. The bluetooth performs seamlessly when making calls. If you have a iPhone you can also use Siri to make calls.
How reliable is this system in a vehicle that experiences extreme heat/cold and vibrations? Will it even last?
Do you prefer this unit over the viaBecs?
I like the Dasaita better. It connects to car play much faster.

I tested it out and level 1 is very very low. You can barely hear the music over the engine.
My reverse camera is showing 3 of the same pictures in black and white. Any suggestions?
Why did you replace the viabecs version you had?
Mainly for content. The first video did so well I wanted to make another one to see how it would do.

What happens when CarPlay is updated? Does it brick the screen or will it do firmware updates (would hate for it to become obsolete).
I updated to IOS 18.2 just now, hopped in the truck and CarPlay connected with zero issues.
How does this compare to an alpine unit? never heard of this brand. Also can you use the stock XM antenna with this?

Can the Dasaita run 2ohm speakers stable?
I haven’t installed any after market subs or amps with a Dasaita unit. If you do let me know how it goes!
Does it work with the jbl unit?
It does! But you need to make sure you order the unit that is JBL compatible.
Do it have a connection for Sirius Xmas.
If you have Sirius XM on your phone it will show up on the head unit when you connect CarPlay.

Yes you can have front and rear facing cameras. Here’s a link for Dasaitas front facing camera but most cameras will work. amzn.to/4a4xmES
How do you know which stock radio you have to use the correct harness. I don’t see it in the owner’s manual.
Only one harness will fit your OEM connections. The other harness might fit one maybe two connections but will not fit the others.
There seems to be a delay how do you get rid of that?

Nothing happened, just making more content. My first video performed so well I wanted to make another one. Thank you for following the channel!
Clean? Youre surprised? Its brand new.
Have you ever tried the sub output for a aftermarket amp and subwoofer?

why is it so much more laggy while using CarPlay
CarPlay uses the internet from your phone. Hopefully a restart on the phone will fix it.
Any update on the CarPlay? Is it laggy still ?
how did it sound? part 2?
The sound is really good! The EQ is awesome to dial in the sound you like.

I have had zero issues. It works just as well today as it did the day it was installed.

Go to your reverse camera settings under your factory settings. If PAL is selected that would be the issue, change it to NTSC.
