  • Hakone is one of the most popular destinations among Japanese and international tourists looking for a break from Tokyo.Hakone (箱根) is less than one hundred kilometers from Tokyo. Famous for hot springs and Onsen, natural beauty and the view across Lake Ashinoko of nearby Mount Fuji.
Here we will take Gondola ride of Owakudani Ropeway from Tōgendai Station near Lake Ashi to Owakudani Gondola Station, and viewing heated sulfur gases from the Owakudani station located at hill top. It’s known to locals as "Jigokudani" (the Valley of Hell.
It is also popular for kuro-tamago (黒卵, lit. "black egg") - a local variety of hard-boiled eggs that uses the hot springs in their preparation. As a result of them being boiled in the mineral-rich waters of the valley, which contain high levels of sulfur, the egg shells turn black and give off a slightly sulfuric odour. It is customary to say that by eating a black egg, adds seven years to your life. Currently, the black eggs can be purchased at any of the Owakudani’s souvenir stores for 500 yen, four at a time. Typically the expiration date is within two days after purchase. If you want to eat it on the spot, grab a seat at the café at the back of the Kurotamago-kan souvenir shop or sit outside on a bench or one of the stools shaped after the black egg.
And viewing Mount Fuji from Mikuni Pass (Mikunitoge) located on Ashinoko Skyline Drive. Ashinoko Skyline running through the outer rim of the Hakone crater in a north-south direction is a road that provides a panoramic vista of Lake Ashinoko to the east, Mt. Fuji to the west, the urban area of Mishima and Numazu Cities, the Izu Peninsula in the distance across Suruga Bay.
