Vacuform Visor and EVA Foam Robot Helmet - Destiny Sweeper Bot Build
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 авг 2024
- Britt shows you how she turned the Sweeper Bot's robot head design into a wearable helmet. The first step was vacuum forming a visor with PET-G plastic, then tinting the visor blue. The helmet was crafted from EVA foam, leaving room for all the cool electronics.

The time, care, and precision Brittany takes on her projects is absolutely immense. Super inspirational to watch her.
Miniac I know right?! I'm both amazed but also feel empowered to do myself but it's also probably magic but like also totally possible but like also... you get me. ;)
I dunno about precision, as much as I love her builds. haha :)
Hear hear.
4:37 The maker's international motto. "I should have done X before I did Y...... OH WELL!!"
So true!
Petition for sweepy to be the next raid boss
Agreed!
yeah but that'd mean killing her :(
Sweeper Bot is the new Raid Vendor
we find out that Sweepy is the architect
This is awesome. Straight and to the point, close-up shots when needed, loads of good information and detailed descriptions of software used! I'd buy instructional videos!
I love how throughout the video you spoke with confidence and talking about the front piece and the vents on the side " the side vent things" went right through that sentence without a hitch, that was great
as a tip for light diffusion: line the inside of the tube with aluminum tape (muffler tape) which is shiny and will reflect all the light inside flooding the tube more evenly.
Always blown away by you 2's foam skills. Jeebus.
I've been looking forward to the helmet build. That looks fantastic 😊
Why thank you!
💚Love the paper prototype idea. Great results!!!💚
I love everything about this. I don't know why but the antennas are my favorite part!
Thanks Zonbi!
You did such a good job on the helmet! I've been waiting for a video about it, wondering how it was made and never would have thought it was made out of foam!
Thanks so much!
I GOT THE MAKERBOT AD ON THIS VIDEO. IRONIC
For those who want to know about the LEDs, they're Balloon LEDs if you search in Amazon, you can get like 50 for like $20.
That is awesome!
Great job!
That's so cool looking Britt! Great job!
Thank you!
AMAZING video Britt!
now this is rad.
great build, thanks
Nice! you guys should make Princess Leia's Boushh Helmet
easy when you have everything to make it!!
That's beyond incredible wow
Thank you!
I love your work , congrats
Love it! So bummed i didnt get to see Sweepie at Dragoncon! Looking forward to more vids though. :)
Alas! We'll have to bring the Sweeper Bot to future conventions :)
Great job.
This is so cool!
This is INSANE! ty so much for sharing!
You're welcome!
Wish I saw this months ago XD making a sandman Helm this process would be so much easier haha
This build has been oh so good every step of the way... ALSO lobster tails at 4.99 a pound! That's a steal! ;)
Hahaha, glad you're liking the build! :D
Now I really wanna make a vacuum former
Go for it! Here's how we made our little one: ruclips.net/video/Gx66mS7U2vY/видео.html
I didn't care who you were, until you put on the mask.
This is seriously impressive work jokes aside, would never have guessed this thing was made with foam.
Wow! Great video!
Thanks!
Muito bom gostaria de ver mais vídeo com armaduras robóticas parabéns
That would make a cool design for a 3D virtual goggle setup :)
I knew the head looked familiar :D
Very very cool
Thanks a lot!
awesome
Y'all were great at the meetup.
+Richard Hopkins Awe thanks!
Great
Britt I love your shirt!!
Thanks! :D
for the 3d printed nose visor "casting", you could have put the print in an acetone vapor bath, it would have taken all the ridges and printing artifacts
Thought I would add here that there are folks who are successfully vacuforming EVA foam. One guy says he has formed up to 10mm foam. Probably wouldn't have been a lot of use on this helmet but sholder caps and such might be a time saver.
Yeah you totally can do that! It's really cool
You are good.
Awesome! I wanna build a robot suit for my little son.. hopefully I can make it
You can do it! =D
I hope so! Wanted to use maya or blender for the 3D model (but learning how to model is quite hard) and pepakura for the helmet. Lots of work. But first the design. May take a while 😅
WOAH
Very nice video and well explained. Was the laser cutter expensive?
We ended up spending about $4,500 on this particular model from Full Spectrum.
Love the shirt #ForCayde
Good destiny oke :-)
A friend who was an optometrist told me they commonly die sunglasses with Rit dye.
Rit makes their own dye for synthetics that works well on PETG. It's similar to iDye Poly. Regular Rit dye, meant for natural fiber cloth, doesn't work very well on PETG.
This is fucking amazing! Great cosplay build and great video
ye boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Could you use leather working tools on foam? Theres a v grove cutter used in leather working
Great cosplay! Question: can you dye clear Worbla like the vacuum forming plastic?
We haven't tried, but I believe you can. It's worth trying with some scrap pieces, at a lower water temperature.
I found out that if you use a heat gun on Contact cement it will accelerate the waiting process
The body undersuit. Is that something you made or bought? What is it made out of? It almost looks rubber or neoprene. Very cool!
We made it by drawing references on a lycra bodysuit, cutting it apart at the seams, taking a picture of the pieces, drawing a new bodysuit in photoshop, getting the design printed on new lycra fabric from Spoonflower, then sewing a new bodysuit. It sure was a learning experience! There will be a video about the process in the next few weeks.
I can't wait. Thank you very much for the reply.
I have been waiting for this and yay im 3rd comment and another great video thanks!
You're welcome! :)
Can I buy one of these?
It looks amazing. I wanted to make one, but my wife was all 'stop putting foam on me, jerk.' Pffft.
I'm relatively new to this and was wondering if you had a pattern it would make my life a hell of a lot easier
Sorry we don't have a pattern for this specific costume. We do have some other free blueprints and patterns here though: punishedprops.com/free-blueprint-files/
Well thanks anyways i appreciate you taking your time to reply to me. I will hopefully be able to figure this one out on my own ;)
What website do you use at start for idea for the 3D building i want to have something on my computer or phone
We took screenshots in the game and used those as references for the template creations.
Britt, you look way too young, but I swear I worked with you in a costume shop in North Hollywood Ca back in the late 1980’s. Is this possible?
Do not touch sweepy's broom or you could end up like the two cabal in the homecoming mission.
Truth.
Punished Props you could say sweepy got the last word
What laser cutter do you guys use? Thanks
Full Spectrum Hobby Laser. Link in the description.
Hey dude what you grinding?
“Sweeper bot”
*nice*
The best character!
Is that you path finder
I want to know how or where they got those foam dowels.
We got them from TNT Cosplay: tntcosplaysupply.com
Punished Props Academy thank you for replying I will check them out
I wish I had been smart enough to use ABS and a lot of infill last time I went to make a lens like that, my buck half-melted and left me with a vacuum formed disaster :)
Oh no! What material was your buck?
PLA. In retrospect the mistake is obvious. I ended up casting a resin buck which worked well.
Thanks for the info!
Were you in the living with chief video as the sweeper bot?
Yes! That was so much fun!
Anyone by any chance got a good supplier that does 1” eva foam balls? I can’t use styrofoam balls cause the glue I have dissolves them
Hmmm... I've never heard of EVA foam being available in a sphere. The closest thing I can think of would be TNT Cosplay Supply's foam dowels, which could easily be shaped into a sphere: tntcosplaysupply.com/product/eva-foam-dowels/
But if that won't work, there is glue available designed to work with styrofoam: amzn.to/2L46uKp
Punished Props Academy thanks again I’ll give it some more thought
How about some templates?
We didn't make any specific templates for this build. If you attempt it yourself, you'll find you need to make custom pieces for your particular costume and size. Templates wouldn't be much help.
Punished Props Academy I actually wanted it to be a decoration or something like that. It doesn’t need to be wearable when it comes to my needs. But it’s very nice that you replied. I adore your Destiny cosplays. Would love to see Better Devils foam replica ;)...
vivek
6:05 i like to make stuff Head?
+Pedro Sánchez It’s Bob!
How would I make rounded vents like the ones on the barrel of the Infinity from borderlands 2?
borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Infinity
Punch a hole (the size of the vent curve) on each end of the vent and cut a straight line between the two tops, and two bottoms, of the circles. I learned that from Bill's Jade Rabbit build in his Foamsmith 2 book :)
Thank you!
I'm coming to the conclusion that if I want to do anything regarding Mecha cosplay I have to spend mega bucks on 3d printers and vacuformers....oh well
Aweee, Im sorry. Im sure all this stuff you can do by hand!!! They just have better tools for it bc they have done it for so long. You can do it!
dat forehead tho
