  • When you look at some of the best young players specficially at age 20 or younger in the world today, you have names like Jude Bellingham, Pedri, Gavi, Jamal Musiala, Xavi Simmons. And okay we can maybe even throw in Ansu Fati and Rasmus Hojlund to the list.
But what if there was another 20 year old that a lot of you are overlooking - one who - more than any of those guys I mentioned earlier is a more complete footballer who is so diverse he can excel in literally any position, one of the most underrated young wonderkids in the world - and of course I’m talking about no other than Eduardo CAMAVINGAAAA .
Leave a like if you enjoyed, it's the best way to support the channel 🙏 ❤️ Let me know what video you want next!

His life story really reminds me of that of Luka Modric so much. Not just because they were both war refugees, had their houses burn down, were temporarily homeless, and were the hope of their families. Despite growing up without much money, they both had good upbringings and were raised in stable households with supportive parents to be polite, humble, and self-confident. They are both flexible in the roles they play on the pitch (although Camavinga’s physique affords him much more flexibility). They are both the responsible eldest child who takes care of younger siblings. They both prioritized buying their family a home with their first earnings. They both seem to be sustainably enjoying their newfound wealth. And they both seem to have childhood activities that give them an extra edge in the football pitch. Eduardo Camavinga’s childhood love of judo helps him tackle people, and Luka Modrić’s childhood job of herding goats in the mountains helps him with positional awareness of all the players on the pitch. And both have a not-so-well-known connection with Brazilians/Portuguese. As Portuguese is the national language of Angola, Eduardo Camavinga learned Portuguese before learning French, and he’s often spotted hanging out with Rodrygo, Vini jr, and Eder Militão and he went on a vacation with them to Brazil. Luka Modrić started his professional career pairing very well with Eduardo da Silva, and now has jokingly adopted Rodrygo. Maybe he should also adopt the rest of the Portuguese speaking crew of Vinicius jr, Eder Militão and Camavinga, since there’s only an 18-year age gap between Camavinga and Modrić, which, see, is larger than the age gap between Rodrygo and Rodrygo’s father, lol. Speaking of age gaps, there’s a cute photo from the 2022 champions league final where Eduardo Camavinga is trying to run away from Luka Modrić’s kids trying to throw confetti on him. 😊

This was really informative, I never knew about Camavinga’s judo background. I also do judo, jiu jitsu, and kickboxing.
In general jujutsu is really good for keeping balance and tackling as it teaches you how to throw others off balance. And I didn’t know about Modric’s past herding goats. He seems like a really kind person. I guess that’s part of the reason for that.

Back when we followed summary of ligue 1 matches with my flatmate, we followed Camavinga knowing he would nit stayed long at Rennes. He moved a season earlier than we thought though but what a player.
The problem with ligue 1 is the lack of retention of good players. Since there is a lot of taxations and regulations, investors tend to go to other countries (PSG is the exception). Ligue has produced a lot of great players though and people often forget where thise players come from like Camavinga with Rennes, Eden Hazard with Lille, Benzema with Lyon, Zidane with Cannes, etc

Camavinga is one of my favorite defenders. He’s ball control is excellent, he’s tackles are so well timed, and he has the best eye for how to pass to the right player and build up momentum.
I started watching him in the 21/22 ucl, and I won’t lie, I didn’t know him prior to that, but he immediately won me over. He has incredible discipline, almost feeling like he’s not having a good time on the pitch. He’s razor-sharp focused, and he’s a great team player.

I even heard that Spanish clubs are so scared to buy French players today since they seemingly managed to absorb Spanish skills and undo Spain’s advance whenever they face France today. the midfield is the only saving grace for madrid this season, defence is fucked without militao and courtois, not enough attackers(for ucl there are literally more registered goalkeepers than attackers), while the midfield is doing the whole job, valverde helping carvajal, cama/tchou helping fran garcia, jude being the top goalscorer in attack, if madrid has a chance to win anything this season its because of the versatile, young, energetic midfield mentored by one of the 2 best midfielders ever: kroos and modric

And Carlo insists on playing both Kroos and Modric together for the nth time. He also plays Kroos at CDM when he has Tchouameni sitting on the bench...

He was thrown on the pitch when the team was down 2-0 and he changed the game with his mental fortitude despite being youngest player on the pitch in that final. Most young players would have melted under pressure from such a massive occasion, but not Camavinga. I believe him being born in a refugee camp has toughened him up mentally to handle big occasions.

I m not as athletic as he is but i m pretty much an all around midfielder with no real weaknesses apart of my size i would say but not as positionless as he is. It's crazy to imagine a football player that u can almost put in any position on the field. He can do it all and in football not like some other team sport it's really tough to do be as complete as he is. He a game changer if he continue to improve he will be able to really carry his team on his back like we can see in the NBA on both ends

I dont want to be that guy, but the first time i saw him play i knew instantly that he was exceptional. He's one of those few players who seems like he watched the match already before kick off and memorised everything- every time an opponent picked up a loose ball, Camavinga was already closing them down, no matter where on the pitch it was. Every time there was a player in the middle of the pitch with nobody anywhere close to him, who stopped and reset the tempo, it was him. Those arent show-stopping things, but if it's happening to one player over and over again every match, that means they have something incredibly valuable in their game. I couldn't believe his age when i heard it. With his level of football intelligence, he can compensate for pretty much any potential weakness in his game, if he learns and grows as much as you'd expect him to.

The biggest problem with him is that he is so inconsistant, and often peforms better when coming from the bench, rather than starting the game. Like in the entire duration of the 21/22 Champions League, he was a game changer every time he stepped in.
Something worth of noting is that Camavinga peforms best when he gets on the run, and plays on 100km/h the entire time. This happened on the two matches against Manchester City in 2023. He was alredy starting as a left back, but got to play in CDM for a few minutes, after Toni Kroos (who couldn't handle the high press) was substituted. That was the position that suffered the most with the intense marking, and when Camavinga got to that position, he looked like the only Real Madrid player to actually try winning the match, and even though they still lost, it was clear that his presence in the middle disturbed City. He's just weirdly inconsistant because of that "high speed" style of playing bc it can either fit extremelly well into the circunstances of a game or just destroy it's cadence completely

He couldn't last a full 90 minutes per game bc lack of stamina, im not saying he's bad but it's true that he is inconsistent ,that's a reality, imo he's like a super subs who will perform after he got subbed in. If he starts first , you will see he performance drop drastically after playing for 50 minutes. See world cup and previous ucl against city.

Madrid is a team of hybrids. Valverde, Alaba, Bellinham, Camavinga can literally play any position at a high success rate, Militao isn't that far off either. Playing a diamond formation with these types of players has to be a dream for a manager as he could switch around, assign different roles throughout games and could cover so much of the field. Imagining this team next year by adding a world class defender and then Mbappe, City should be scared. This Madrid really starts reminding me of Ancelotti's AC Milan team with the potential to be even better.

Philip Cocu played every position in the 1998 WC. He played left back when Numan was injured. He replaced Frank De Boer in defence Overmars on the left of midfield davids on the inside left and striker for Kluivert. He was also left footed.

Camavinga was Ancelotti's secret weapon during that last Champion's league triumph. For indeed, their comeback agsinst PSG, Chelsea and Man City all happened after he was subbed in.

How come Camavinga is underrated, who's overlooking him? Real got him at the age of 18 and he's already an important player for them. Ask anyone who watches football (like you mentioned about your poll), Cama is probably the highest regarded young player in the world right now, behind Jude Bellingham.

I don’t think he’s underrated but I don’t think people know his game and how good he is he’s more know for the memes currently lol , like people are talking about musiala, Jude , Pedri but rarely does camavinga come up unless they got ball knowledge, 😂

I think just because Real Madrid got him for really cheap price, that's why most of the football FC ignores him in general, and that's why he is underrated.

I am a versatile player. And over the years I learned something very sad about my game. As a young footballer I was great everywhere but not PERFECT. I played in midfield and next game in defense and I would focus my training more here than there. Now that I’m older, I wish I developed FULLY in one position.
This player needs to focus a lil more in his development
