So glad for this one…I’ve always wondered how certain officers can know/memorize certain models without looking at the labels, especially while many of these new vehicles are designed across various brands are so very similar looking!

Smart move to use the vehicle types from the collision form - standardises language so everyone listening to the radio is on the same page, and helps to avoid potential discrepancies in descriptions that sometimes don't play well to a jury.

I think one of the main pillars that make a good law enforcement officer are good communications and videos like this that promote this skill are absolutely helpful. Thank you!

It does get irritating to listen to my police scanner and say they're in pursuit of a Hyundai Accord or a Toyota Sentra etc. I even heard a Mercedes Grand Cherokee once.
But, I am a HUGE car guy. Plus so many of these cars look alive these days.
    Great video!!!

You know this was a cool conversation for me because I know cars like that but I never understood other people couldn’t match cars years, make and model off the top of their head

Thank you, free field training. Also, excellent presentation for us in neighborhood watch-type groups or just solo citizens. It's called "community policing" for a reason. Communication and assistance circulating among police and civilians #CommunityPolicing

A white truck could also refer to the Sandia National Laboratories Safeguards Transporter. If local police are dealing with that situation though... Things have already gone *disastrously* wrong.

Isn't it a shame that officers are affraid of even getting jammed up for pulling over the wrong vehicle? It's absolutely ridiculous. I dont blame them, just recently here in Myrtle Beach there was a plate reader malfunction that hit on a vehicle near the officers telling them the car was a stolen vehicle, so to follow protocol and to protect themselves had driver get out with guns drawn as is standard for a stolen vehicle stop. And of course the Lady is now going to sue them (she's black and of course blaming it on her race instead of what it actually was... a mistake".
If we keep making officers so affraid to act because of prosecution should they make a mistake, but on the flip side if they are not taking these precautions it could cost them alot more than their jobs, like getting killed, then you are going to see the day when you would have to be crazy to be a cop, qnd I think we are unfortunately alot closer to this than we think. Lord help us we have gone woke *COUGH* sorry... we have gone crazy 🙄

I dunno, if I got ordered out at gunpoint and had to lay down on the road in my good clothes for an "oopsie" I'd be pissed. How would you feel? I was subject to a guns drawn traffic stop back in the day due to passengers in the taxi I was operating and it was unnerving. That being said I was not ordered out of the car thankfully just the rear seat occupants

I should add that the lawsuits for short term wrongful detainment are stupid in my opinion. That being said if you are a law enforcement officer you should not become jaded dealing with shitheads and forget what it would be like to be on the receiving end when law enforcement makes a mistake

If the RP (Reporting Person) gives a specific make, model and color of a vehicle, do NOT pull over a different make and model of vehicle. You have no RAS (Reasonable Articulable Suspicion) at that point and just a color will not stand in court. Someone might test you because they know they did nothing wrong and have a dash cam. You think they’re being defiant or not cooperative and you tell them to get out and so on. Those other officers that you are talking about are educated. A civil rights suit will be on your city attorney’s desk before you know it.

Eyewitness testimony is unreliable. Many cars look similar and you don't want to go down a rabbit hole looking for a Ford F-150 when you should be looking for a GMC Sierra. If the complainant says it's a white F-150, look for a white pickup truck.
