Stad Reimes were one of the first teams to reach the European cup along with Real Madrid. It was played at the Stade Paris with Madrid of course winners. That was back in a time when rugby was the national craze in France.
I doubt anyone specifically advised him to move to Rennes. The reality is that most top players have an 8-10 year window (maybe a wee bit more if they develop fast & avoid serious injury) in which to achieve as much as possible. He probably just wanted to play in a "Top 5" European League before the end of his career and Rennes was the best move on offer.
I’m believing Kyogo wanted to go, but the club let him go at this time, imo not the type of player to not give his all if he was here to summer, massive mistake , the next couple of days in the transfer window will be crucial, we need a left back and a striker ☘️☘️
Same at my house John ! I was banished to the back bedroom where my expletives were muffled from my wifes ears. Even after Aidah scored, I was still pacing and shouting " FFS Celtic don't fu@k this up"
To acknowledge in one breath that Kyogo is doubling his wages, and then state in the next that there's nothing Rennes can offer him, is an argument that collapses on itself from the start. While I was surprised that the wee man went to that particular club, it came as no shock to me at all that he left. I am American. Celtic fans in my area are relatively rare, but I did encounter one (we were both wearing the shirt at the time) shortly before his departure was announced. He asked me whether I felt Kyogo was going to stay or go. I replied that he was as good as gone. Was it wise for him to leave? In my opinion, yes. On balance, is his departure a good thing for Celtic? Given the players coming in/back, absolutely. Were there better alternatives for him? Difficult to say for certain, simply because I'm not privy to the talks between buying clubs and the Celtic board and the player himself. However, I can't believe that a more attractive and similarly lucrative option wasn't possible. Maybe I'm wrong. It is puzzling, and we may never know the real truth.
@@johnhughes3159 Well they offer a far more competitive league and an overall higher standard of football than the SPFL. He's had 3 and a Half seasons in Scotland. He's won all there (realistically) is to win with Celtic, he's played in the Champions League.... What else is there to achieve/experience at Celtic? We have to bear in mind that these lads from overseas do not have any pre-existing affinity for Celtic when they first arrive at the club and they are always going to move on at some point. Leaving the SPFL for 'Ligue 1' would be an absolute no brainier for 90% of foreign players if they'd already played in Scotland for 3+ years.
Dear ACSOM ... it's great to see young talent on your podcast ... most pods you see are four old guys ... so well done ... Celtic in the forefront again ... and please John don't be despondent ... we are at a stretch on the bench tonight but we are Celtic ... BR's Celtic ... so 3-1 Celtic for me. HHCOYBIG.
26:51 Freddy was done by the time he got to Celtic, Keane wasn’t. Keane has probably one of the best games to goals ratios we have ever had. Had he stayed for 3.5 years how many good would we be saying he was.
But the discussion is around their time at Celtic, not how great they were in their pomp. Keane was not a better Celtic player than Kyogo. Ljungberg wasn’t a better Celtic player than Jota.
Yeh I get you PJ and I will agree with you on Ljunberg, he was hopeless for us but Keane wasn’t far off his pomp when he played for us. Kyogo done better for Celtic because he was with us for 3.5 years but if you were to reverse the time line that each players was with us so we only had Kyogo for 6 months and had Keane for the 3.5 years with the form he had with us in the 16 games then I still think that Keane wasn’t far off the more talented player but even giving that opinion would I swap them? Not a chance even though i think Keane would have got more goals, I loved the wee fella more than anyone else since Larsson.
Are you still running with this null and void arguement? 😂 The entire point in an excellent GtG ratio is the overall contribution it makes to the success of a team. We had no success during Keane's tenure. His 16 in 19 meant next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, since he done zero against Rangers or in the important games when it really mattered - losing to St Mirren 4-0 (which ultimately ended our League title hopes) and the Scottish Cup Semi Final etc. Keane 'was' infact done by the time he came to us - which was the 'only' reason he joined...as well as DD lucrative paycheck, of course! Signing for dug meat LA Galaxy after West Ham kicked his erse out the door after a mere 9 games, tells you everything you need to know. His only excellent years were during his first spell at Spurs, for someone who played with 11 clubs, that is really bad! One of the most overrated Strikers of all time.
Give Yang a break , Remember Paul John you stated McCowan wasn't good enough for Celtic never mind the champions league , What about a quote like " This could be the game Yang steps up to the plate' instead of digging the lad out constantly
He's been at Celtic for 19 months and had about 3 good performances. Just accept he's another dud that is never going to make it - he's in good company right enough, as there 9 other failed Rodgers signings!

We DO need the win. What do we want a play off place for when we COULD get a top 8 place , depending on other results. A one off game we could lose whereas top 8 will give us another 3 or is it 6 games. Much more money for celtic. Money we could use to get in some better players. Just saying.
Expect the sake performance we gave at ibrox . This mob was er for the taking tonight and us to the last 16 but no ambition or bravery from the board and manager . They have went in to the comfort zone since the result against lipzig after we sort of know we had got through to the prelim round . The board don’t want to get to the last 16 tonight they want the prelim ties for an extra 2 matches that gives us 4 more than usual 6 and they are delighted with that job done . Managers happy with that to and that bothers me and that’s why he’s let kyogo go what difrence did it make keeping him one more week . Raging 😡
Villa’s shape incites fluidity, ambitious front-foot possession play, attacking overloads and physically-intensive pressing. The rotations, speed and mobility of their front 4 alone, is super concerning if they bring their A game. If they are indeed ‘on it’, how our fragile backline cope, will prevent it from being a cricket score. On the other-hand, their defensive transition has evident flaws, so it’s in these phases that we really need to make it count. They are highly susceptible to counters. A conventional 4-3-3 (Wingers high and wide) would naturally the best structure to counter their 4-2-3-1, but unfortunately Rodgers current narrow, static and overly-inverted tactical shape will result in the inevitable, against a proper side. We got away with it big-time last Wednesday against the worst team in the competition, but definitely not tonight if he insists on not altering the attacking shape, player & ball movement and tempo - especially from both flanks. Kuhn and Yang need to be stationed as wide as possible, to stretch their defence horizontally and create space for attacking moves through the middle or exploit the space left by their full-backs and delivering telling crosses from the wide - especially against a defensive line which tends to push-up really high. West Ham’s approach on Sunday underlined how to effectively use space correctly against Villa in the wide attacking phases. That said, the effectiveness of any game plan from a tactical and strategic perspective, is largely dependent on the strengths and weaknesses of your personnel, and quite frankly, we have more weaknesses than we do strengths currently - at LB, LCB, RB and ST. That’s without factoring in the ongoing imbalance of the middle 3. Ramsey first scorer - Villa 2-1.
I just don’t want a tankin’. And I think it’s possible. But I also think a point is do-able. And I also want a wee sleep after this week. Shattered, man. Moving to Rennes has a lot to offer. And potentially on the park for him too. I don’t really get this desire to diminish that just because he left us. It is objectively a better league, and yes, he might drop out of it and some of our fans would love that. It is probably a better lifestyle. It is probably a better climate, whilst not exactly the med. it has a lot to offer.
Very good points there misterc. But you forgot one other. Apart from a financial point of view, surely there's only so many time's a good player will want to play anything from 4 to 6 games (factoring in cup games) against teams in the SPL? I'd say after 2 or 3 seasons you'd be sick of the sight of some teams, players and locations. And it's not like they are in a very skillful league playing against similar opposition. Let's be honest, surely it must be a bit dispiriting at times spending most of the game trying to break the opposition down in front of a half empty ground with no atmosphere, apart from your own fans making noise. And then factor in that maybe you feel the manager isn't playing the formation to your strengths. All those things considered, I say good luck to any player who does a job for us for a few seasons and moves to a better league. (And money).
The only thing worse than women's football, is grown men who pretend to like women's football and attempt to shoe-horn it in to discussions about actual football. Absolute weirdos.

I think Lawrence was referring to Robbie Keanes goal to game ratio.
When was the last time a royal family member attended a Celtic game 🇮🇪🍀
I always thought they were regular fans who used to gather in the old Jungle, but have recently settled in the North Curve !

No chance we play Luke at LW tonight, it will be Yang.
Big ask tonight but not impossible.
Brendan will have a plan. 💪🏻💚

Idah missed that chance. Missed it only luck got us the goal. He needs to step up because he’s been woeful so far.
