Just got mine an hour ago, had to pack it back up to send back… failure of the electrical box for speed control… stops at “32” when it should top out at max speed of “50”. Which sucks, because my bucktool 2x42 cost less and hasn’t failed once. My heart is breaking right now because of it. I’m sorry for rambling, I’m a one man, low production company and I thought I was doing something right buying what is essentially a mini 2x72 and already have it packed up and ready to send back. Sucks. Sorry for rambling.
I want this machine but I keep hearing about the failure of these motors. Can anybody attest to the same issues with the motor burning out smoking or slowing down and speeding up?
I bought this expecting some weakness. I also bought mine specifically for sharpening and finishing work. I don’t push my grinder hard it’s not even close to being as tough as my 2x72. However my grizzly is still going and doing the job I bought it for. Thanks.
I received my grinder about a week ago, and it's all I expected it to be! I use the bottom slot in the frame to store my tool rest. Not sure what the top slot is for. Maybe Grizzly has future plans for some accessories? Either way, money well spent. I also noticed they're on backorder on Grizzly's site, and I didn't see any on eBay. So, we're lucky we got 'em before the wait. LOL
Glad someone's works. Mine is junk or im doing something way wrong. The motor is super inconsistent. Definitely not putting out enough power. I can stop it easier than my 1x30
@@SugarMapleForge I haven't had problems with the motor stopping, but the belt would stop at first, so I wrapped duct tape around the drive wheel and works fine now. The motor runs so quiet, I thought I was stopping it too, but it was just slipping. No matter what though, the platform of this grinder is worth having to me. I couldn't build it for $300, even without a motor. I'm sure I can keep it going... somehow lol
If that’s done by extending the platen bar another 7 inches or so (without increasing the size of the rollers) I wouldn’t be surprised if vibration or harmonic resonance didn’t rear its ugly head under heavy load but I hope I’m wrong.

@@straightedgedmafia awesome!
I think that’s what people maybe doing. Is pushing it to hard.
I turned mine into a 2 by 72 in a couple hours
How is it going for you?
Excited to see what else you do with this! Mine is on the way

Nice, is the machine reversible ?
Negative, neither is my 2x72.
@@straightedgedmafia
I wonder if that’s a mod that someone might try.
@@thechumpsbeendumped.7797 gonna be 😉
I am thinking about making an extension to run 2 by 72
Would love to see it, and if it works.
That's my plan as well.
You can go as long as a 1" x ¹/⁴ x ? ❤

I am planning on making a frame extension that bolts to yhe OEM 6 hole pattern and the current system will bolt to my frame extension
Heard it bogs down. Not very efficient and strong.
I have not had a bogging issue yet. I don’t use mine for heavy work. Mainly sharpening and finishing work, of which it works great.
