    You did not go in to wiring hookup, please tell us which wire goes to which terminal. Thanks

    made the same swap 10 years ago... hasn't skipped a beat, have heard some complain about power issues relating to the resistor wire powering the HEI... so what i did was to use a relay with that original wire as the trigger

      haven't had a problem with it but I don't have a resistor on it at all.

      I'm led to believe the factory lead is resistance wire... just saying, someone might see this and be helped by it : ]

      TheCanadianBubba I’m going to be putting in a HEI on my 250. I dread saying this but I don’t know what you mean?

      I’m trying to convert my ‘68 Impala from points to HEI. What kind of relay would I need to use to use the factory ballast resistor/ignition wire?

      @@TheCanadianBubba Your 100% correct. A resistor wire was used after starting. The two wires at the distributor positive one was full 12v for starting the other was a resistor wire that activated when the key returned to the run position. Way to much confusion, people should read theory of operation before teaching.

    you said in your video that you changed the plugs, i'm doing the same upgrade to my chevy 6, did you change to a hotter plug and what about the gap? thanks..

      I used the recommended plugs but opened the gap to .045, you could try .045 and then .040 to see which is better. You will have to get different wires. I got a set for an 85 Chevy truck and it works fine.

    I want to replace mine on a 1970 250 I6. Can you provide a link to buy the exact same distributor?

    • @lukeFugate

      It is a great upgrade. Here is a link to it amzn.to/300vXQO
      You will need different plug wires also. I think I got wires for an 85 chevy truck and they worked.

    Why do you have the faucet on the heater hose?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  8 лет назад +3

      lol I guess it does look a little bit funny. I never think about it anymore. in the summer the coolant still flows through the heater core and it lets heat into the cab while you drive so I put the valve on to stop the flow.

      Thanks. That makes sense.

      Great little motor. Are you planning on hot rodding it any ? Besides the HEI ignition? Like headers intake double or triple carbs ?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  6 лет назад

      Not really any plans on hot rodding right now. I put the new carburetor on recently and it helped with power a little bit. I had thought about the dual carb intake, but it is kind of expensive.
