2:17 I was in The Philippines many years ago riding a bus through the provinces. When we stopped at a station, or roadside rest and vending area many of these eggs were sold, they are quite popular every where especially on the streets. They are called "balut." It is a fertilized egg (duck or chicken) which is incubated about 2-3 weeks then steamed and eaten from the shell. I assume it is the same food in Cambodia, but I'm not sure. I don't know what it is called in Cambodia, but "balut" is the name I remember from PI.
Yes, it’s the same. But in Cambodia, they normally serve it with a simple sauce mixture of black pepper, a pinch of salt, and fresh lime juice. From what I know, Cambodia just calls it baby chicken egg or baby duck egg, which is the literal translation of their language. I believe most of the times it’s duck eggs since they’d rather raise chicken to produce more.
Oh great info
@@AFRICANTIGRESS In the Philippines we call it BALUT, the duck egg incubated for 2-3 wks.
it's Pongtea kon (duck egg)😅

There was no tall building at all when I visited Cambodia 20 years ago. It was a rural area where those new buildings are when I visited last. I see you talking about people looking at you like they have never seen black ladies before. You probably found out already that Cambodians always want to be white even though they have darker skin. I spent my first 15 years in Cambodia. I know people rerely see dark skin people like you. Even people from rural area, their skin is not as dark as yours. I remember seeing a french toothpaste once. They put a black person's face with a big smile to reveal his very white teeth on the tube. I think that was my first black person I saw. We immigrated to California and saw a lot of black people for the first time. What a feeling! After serving along side too many black people in the service, we are all the same. By the way, we can say that bad things are every where in any countries around the world. But I can tell you that i don't feel comfortable in Cambodia. I'd prefer the USA better. I don't like people bothering me all the time every where I went in Phnom Penh. I didn't have a good time.
You must be an outgoing person with good heart, friendly and free of judgmental to feel the excitement and joy when traveling. I also live in California, San Diego to be specific. Cambodia doesn’t have school shooting, racism and gang related violence as much as we do here in the states so you may miss all that while being away from home. Cambodian mostly are poor but they’re rich at heart. Poor people are everywhere corners trying to make a few bucks to survive by all means, selling souvenirs or begging. I love to hand out some cash to some of disabled and old people and bought stuff that I don’t even like from them just to help them out as I can, I felt so great for doing that. I understand that everyone has different personalities and way of life, but we all should share one thing in common, feel sorry for the poor and less fortunate if we can’t help them instead of feeling annoyed or irritated by them. I’m sorry to leave you such an educational comment or lecture but I found your comment to be disturbing. I wish you all the best in life.
@@khmeremperor1729 Thank you for your view. You have an open heart. I'm sorry that I only give the facts. Please let apologize ahead of time. Cambodians doesn't have gang? That's not true. School killing? maybe true. But Cambodians kill their own people in millions. Those who killed them were those poor who couldn't even read or write their own language. Please don't tell me that those top few were the culprit. No, the killing was done systematically by the poor at the bottom. Those who were killed at S21 is just a small fraction. The leadership of those poor illiterate people at the bottom killed the most.
@@therabbitnews9362 your apology accepted. it is very true if you refer to the Khmer rough regime and that’s why I am feeling sorry for all the survivors who are struggling to survive economically till today. However, Cambodia today is one of the safest places to visit and people are very friendly. Cambodian people put a smile in their face to welcome tourists regardless of what and how they have been through and what they’re going through. They sometimes can be very annoying when they come around you and try to sell stuff or beg for a few bucks to feed their family but if you look back into their past you should understand why they’re doing that and we all who are more fortunate should have some tolerance for their actions. We at home in the states, we everyday, throw away the leftovers food that those poor in Cambodia can’t even afford to have one time a week. I am either feeling sad and very disturbing to see any comments that show no sympathy for those poor people. I am sorry if I say anything that may offended you and hope you can understand why I am leaving such comments and reply, I apologize in advance. Wish you a wonderful day
@@khmeremperor1729 Sir, they are begging because they are hungry. Human beings want things. When they see others, they too want to be that. That's the nature of being a human. But human also has brain to think. Let me take buddhism in Cambodia as an example. You would find buddhism at its best in the rural area where most poor peasants and poor farmers live. During the Khmer Rouge, buddhism was eliminated by the regime. Here's my thing that you will disagree. Those poor people who believed in buddhism strongly in the past become killers when they were elevated to be superior of the society during the Khmer Rouge. That tells me that their belief was not real. When buddhism benefits them, they take it. When the killing part for the name of the game, they forgot completely budhism. Now, this is my opinion only base on facts, not fiction. Here's to respond to you. You are telling us how safe it is in Cambodia. Ofcourse, people have to watch for themselves any where they go whether in Cambodia or anyowhere else. I'm walking in the USA everyday and never ever thought about anyone would snatch things from my hand. You can't do that in Cambodia. You can get rip off by a taxi, tuktuk drivers in Cambodia easily, which I don't see it here. The list can go on and on. As a tourist, there are two things in their favor. The first is the value of their currency vs Cambodian riels. Second the cost of goods in Cambodia is relatively cheap when it compare to where they came from. These two factors make tourist tolerate those ugliness of the Cambodian society. They someitmes even give more tips on top. That tells us that the value of other currency is much more.
It's enough. This is not the place. Let's get back watching video. I can talk and talk. I don't know you. You don't know me. If you do know me, you probably change your view.
@@therabbitnews9362 I totally agree with you on your topic about Buddhism, about the changes people will have when they become something, we’ll that will happen to any religion, any race and anywhere. Pity crime that you’re complaining about do not justify the fact that we’re here in the states where we’re dealing with racism, gun violence and gang related killings. If you would move to the Southern part of Chicago, Detroit or some part of Philly you may not want to walk alone at night, and I am not to mention some part of California. We have to look at all angles to see the good and bad parts of any country for fairness in judgment, cannot just perceive base on its only ugliness. I hope you follow the story about the shooting during Luna New Year, ten people died. This is what I am referring to, not a pity crime. I am well aware about things that’s happening in Cambodia, from corruption, poverty and politics. And I said that Cambodia is one of the safest places for tourists, It’s undeniably true if you compare to some other places around the globe.
Thailand is still better than that Cambodia !!!
Bangkok is very crowded with western tourists who are looking for sex.
yes thailand is the best country in asia.
No countries in the world can compete Thailand, Hail King of Asia!
You can sleep better at night after saying this.😂 Thailand did not go through what we’ve been through. Go compare it with Singapore or something.😂
They really don’t look friendly at all .. was creepy actually .. wonder what happening to make them react like that 😮
