Ciao Ale! Very useful video, thanks! I have a question: assuming that I want to learn a song very badly but I also want to work on a workout schedule where I practice every day a different technique, like you suggested, how do I structure that? Could practicing the song at the end of the workout for X minutes as a reward do it? I’ll use an example: I’m learning Cliffs of Dover and it’s very difficult for me to learn. Still, it’s extremely rewarding and it motivates me me a lot to pick the instrument up. I also want to improve other techniques etc but I find exercises boring and I quickly come back to practicing the song. How would you approach this? Thanks.
Ciao bello! I feel like the two should be considered separately and be developed sideways, practice is not meant to be fun unfortunately but it definitely is a super rewarding process that's gonna make everything else you play, including new songs you learn etc., much easier, comfortable and help you build a solid foundation. Learning a new song doesn't necessarily mean improving at the instrument in general so i feel like a good balance of practicing and playing with freedom is the way to go, that's what i enjoy about the process (risposto in inglese che non si sa mai ahaha)
I have started following a routine since last few months and see the results already.. however what I do is practice 4 techniques each day for 15 mins..so that's 1 hour of practice.. and I replace those techniques with other 4 techniques in the next week.. So my question is.. 15 mins of sweep picking workout for 5 days a week is good? Or as you mentioned 1 hour of sweep picking workout in 1 day of a week is a good idea?
Whatever works for you man, that sounds great! The importance in building a routine just like yours is to find a personal way to keep up progressing and motivation, so as long as you see the results coming in just stick to it and you're surely doing amazing
