What are the frets like on this model? I have two Strandbergs. One has terrible frets that are high in some spots and the ends are like knives. I had a tech at guitar center help out with the ends but even after that work it’s still rather sharp. They need to do better on the fret work. I have two of the expensive models I should not be worried about frets but I am. Reached out to them direct already and got the door shut in my face on the issue I am having so to me that’s not great customer service.
With this essential model I was lucky . Maybe cuz I preordered it very early . All in all the fretwork is well done. With my Sälen nx tremolo I’m also very happy. Same with Boden nx standard and Boden (old version) classic. My most expensive model, the Boden original nx had horrible Frets. They’ve been very sharp like knifes , so I exactly know what you mean. The are produced in Indonesia , factory of cort . But regarding to the price they should do way better work . Those guitars are more expensive than fender or PRS made in USA 🤯
If Strandberg had originally been designed with straight frets and then came out now with fanned frets, would you feel it was the upgrade you were looking for? Trying to decide between the Standard and the Essential. Great playing btw.
Good question. Difficult to answer. I started playing with usual frets. but all in all i like the fanned frets way more. I'm can play them faster. So all in all i'd say for me it's an upgrade. did you ever play fanned frets? It's not for everyone. I wish there will be a essential with fanned frets. Now i'm noodling on my essential. But I'm way more happier grabbing on of my other models (with fanned frets)
@MikePane I've only had a few minutes with a fanned fret Strandberg in a shop, and I struggled visually with it, my spatial awareness was all off in the upper frets. I figured it's something that you get used to soon enough, just not in the short time I had. Also, over the years I've come to look for a degree of familiarity between my guitars, so I'm worried that adjusting back and forth might put me off picking it up. I guess the only answer is to spend more time with one in store.
@@AdrianFarrell The Zero fret is also done away with on the essential. (the zero fret gets scratched up and buzzes). I think that's the part that makes the essential the one to get iMHO.
Nice vid! I am considering getting one of these. Does it tend to hold tune well? Are the pickups good or will you look to switch them for something else eventually ?
Sick dude! Whats the difference in them vs the nx? I love how they constantly improve the design. Fuck i remember getting the first production OS back in 15 and just been playing them since! Sometimes i wished i kept them all but shitty life happens. Just a plini nx right now
Thx mate 😍 the shape is identical to the nx model . The only differences are the price and the frets (usual fret Lay-out instead of fanned frets). It’s interesting how the changed the design , but I like the older models too 🙈
@@opethian8512 ah yeah and u r totally right! The Bridge hardware is new and different to the nx model. I guess the building process is cheaper. But all in all the bridge works the same way as the nx. The stringlock(s) is changed. The nx models have separate locks for every string while the essential has one block of 6 string locks. i will make another video comparing both models in detail
I started creating a new track today. With metal guitar elements , playing the Boden essential. I’d say yes it can do metal as good as my other strandbergs (same PUs like Sälen classic nx trem and Boden standard). I will share my track in a couple of weeks ✌🏼

Superb cinematography, nice music and playing. Shared on Strandberg fan pages on FB.
Thx 😍🙏
Nice! Very cinematic shots. Could do with making the guitar parts louder
thx Mate :) Yeah , the song is still in progress. thx for the tip
This with pink pickups
Good idea 😍 would be awesome 👀🤔

Thx 😍 they stay in tune . I won’t switch those PUs . My other Strandbergs do have the same pus. They are fine 😎

Can this do metal at all? Interested in one but never see reviewers do metal

Man, i really want one. Trying to win the giveaway with JTC this month lol. Great video
Thx 🙏 I wish u the best trying to win one. Otherwise I guess they will release more essential models soon. It’s still much money, but it’s worth it 👌
Btw they r now in stock (officially). No need to preorder anymore. Maybe something for you ?
@@MikePane hoping to win one still lol, well see
