    Hi, Jon! Could you make a video about playing on the upper frets of lower strings, like playing 10 - 15 frets on 5 or 6 string in the lick. I always find it very stretching and hard to keep the consistancy. I see what people do is they slowly change the left hand position. Is it how I should do it?

    • @JonBjork
      @JonBjork  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Matt!
      It’s hard to advise you without seeing you play in this instance. Check out the lesson from a couple months ago about my thoughts on correct left hand technique and see if you have any potentially bad habits.

    A great lesson! I've been doing similar trill exercises for two months (30 minutes up to 2 hours a day) and I'm seeing some progress in terms of speed, but not as much as I'd like. I'm guessing that's due to my tendency to fret the string too hard with the static finger in certain areas of the neck. Any tips for relaxing the fretting hand finger that stays down?

    • @JonBjork
      @JonBjork  11 месяцев назад +3

      Slowing down and really focusing on the sensation of pressure will help. Personally I think that spending that long on trills is a bit overkill. Try doing less but more focused practice and spend the extra time on other types of exercises for a few weeks and see if that helps.

      Try this sweep pattern, very useful and if you follow the instruction in the video I'm a 100% you'll get it with practice.

    hey great video, should you do this for longer than 6 minutes or keep it as such

      Thank you!
      You could but I did it exactly like this and then spent time on other exercises instead. The value is in doing it consistently and REALLY focusing on getting the technique right as I describe in the video.

    Maybe stupid question, but isn`t the left-hand position dependent on how you hold the guitar? Because I could never really place the thumb the way all people tell you to. When I do it, it just instantly hurts, or I have to bend my wrist which is not great either... Now I just realized that i have the guitar between my legs, not on my pulled-up thigh. When I hold it like you I have no problem taking the "correct" position with the left hand. Might be a thing to point out, because I have actually not heard anyone mentioning this detail so far. (okay classical guitarists, but they have yet another position)

    • @JonBjork
      @JonBjork  11 месяцев назад +1

      Move the guitar into a position where you can place the left hand in the optimal way. The position I described is the best when it comes to reach, relaxation and risk of injury.
