Im going to do this for a week and Ill check back on the 14th and let you know what I think.
The right hand articulation part didn't teach me anything I didn't already know or intuitively knew, but it reframed it in my head enough to make a change in my playing INSTANTLY. Great video ❤️❤️
Excellent tips. No subtitles necessary; your English is on point and clear.
Thanks! I believe it's helpful for people who doesn't have english as their first language though:)
I agree but the subtitles are helpful keep em
@@JonBjork Thank you!
Hell yeah..... I'm gonna do this! My sweeping can be great (on occasion), but consistency is my biggest issue.
Thanks, Jon! 🤘
Awesome! Let me know how it went in a week😊👍
Really enjoying this style of video Jon. Also the challenge you lay down gives me something to work on. Id love to see a video in this style, where you talk about string crossing for alternate picking (particularly the classic 12,13,15 and 12 on the e, Paul Gilbert lick)
Thank you Peter! Good idea:)
I dont know if it s normal but i have way less struggle difficulty to sweep pick than fast picking
of course , i'm still not jason becker, so even this video is good to watch, but i can say i have a "ok" sweep pick , but i ll definitely practice this in the video.
I'll try to talk about this channel puting a link of the channel in multiple guitar videos to make sure people can get better thanks to you amazing teacher.
I'm not gonna spam it 10 times in the same video just one is enough to make sure people can see this channel.
Thanks man, appreciate it!
Sweep picking is still my weak point in my playing. When I finally get it down its going to be the best feeling ever.
One of the things I like about your videos are the guitars :)
Then there's the high level articulation from your words and playing.
Awesome tips👍 thank you
Thank you!
Thanks
Thanks for this lesson jon. This is exactly what a lot of us need to work on. In my opinion you are the best Teacher. Much respect to you bro
Thank you! I do my best to help😊
Tusen tack Jon. ❤
Tack själv!
found this vid and immediately grab my guitar 😅
your demonstration was so good.
Thank you!
great content Jon, I practice and teach something similar and I'll try it out this way as well
THE James Murphy??? Honored to have you visit my channel man! Thank you!
@@JonBjork the pleasure is mine... I see you have a Guitar lesson site... I'll check it out!
Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions:)
Thumb placement/movement gets difficult when getting at or above the 12 fret, this video hints, but doesn't show how to do that. Help appreciated
I try to keep it the same up to the point where it doesn’t make sense any more. So it’s going to depend on hand size and guitar brand as well.
@@JonBjork Thanks - I find that on a LP or Strat it its difficult beyond the 12 fret/position as at that point the pink is beginning to fret at 15. Does one just avoid going higher, wrap the thumb around the front, other? Keeping the guitar high, e.g. on a short strap helps, but again at some point it's still an issue. Appreciate feedback or suggestions. By the way, sweeping better after a week, in fact helps for better upstrokes in general even when not sweeping, great exercise.
@@charlesmedcoff8697 It's harder the higher you go on the guitars you mentioned but that doesn't mean impossible. You have to adapt the technique as you get higher so don't worry about keeping it the same as on the lower frets.
One more thing I've "discovered" (Yeah maybe I'm kinda 'slow' but I'm self taught.) I'm trying out substituting finger 2 for 3, and 3 for 4, when getting higher up on the neck. I sort of switch over to that 'mode' when I get to about the 12th or 14th fret as reaching the lower strings, e.g. the E or A string at or above those positions becomes problematic. Funny I can't find anyone on the internet talking about this technique, but it seems to make sense. Comments/feedback appreciated.
What? I can't become Frank after one hour....
You can become any Frank you want but not Gambale in an hour😁
@@JonBjork I saw Frank Gambale with Chick Corea in college back in 1992 or 93. I thought I was cool until that night.
That must’ve been awesome!
