I actually like what was done with Luke, I know that's not a popular opinion amongst these channels, but I found it far more interesting than going for the fan boy written Luke turns up and force destroys everything, as great as Luke was in Mandalorian at the time, I found nothing to talk about it....and have pretty much forgotten it. A jedi getting old and turning his back on the force because he knows you're just likely to create another Vader was interesting to me, but I can see why there's fans who didn't like it too.

I've never met a racist comic book fan, ever. In fact when I was in HS, I had some nerdy friends who were like the least judgmental people ever. However YAH, some things were sacred. That was their appreciation of art.
I see the same thing with Star Wars, DC, Marvel and other "pop culture". There is this, what I call, "nouveau correctness" being applied to things which were never that way before. Those things were fine as they were.
I just saw a video by YellowFlash 2 "Disney Star Wars Interest Tanks!" - Now Lando is being assigned a sexual preference, and "the chosen one" is being questioned to suit the new canon - and is no longer Luke Skywalker. About a year ago, she tried the same thing in a Medium article (which was also a mile long), titled, "When Systemic Hatred of Women Online Goes Unnoticed, What Does it Say About Us?" It was equally as poorly researched, and just as much word-salad as this new article. The woman is completely unbalanced.
It's all about creating a narrative by using the trigger words and do a data dump só large that it's almost impossible to answer to all the BS that's in there. And when the accused answer they nitpick certain things that can arguably be questionable, while ignoring the things that are without question.
If you pay attention you'll see this happen more and more even in the reactions on these videos.
You can sum up a list of maybe ten points and they'll pick just the one they THINK they can somewhat successfully argue against and blatantly ignore the other nine. And then they claim that because they have counter argued that one point, now the other nine points you mentioned are also invalid without ever even arguing against them.
It's a very carefully constructed attack, not against the message, because they can't really argue against that, but against the messenger, using the logic of "if you can discredit the messenger, then the message, even if it's nothing but the truth, is then also untrue."

Thats really cool Carl! I'm 44, so I was born in '77. I saw the original trilogy on tv, and then on VHS as a child in the 80's. I loved each one of them! I still do. I'm almost envious you were born when you were to be old enough to have seen ANH in a theater. Must have been cool.
Same here. I'm nearly 70. Already married ... my husband knew I was a science fiction fan and kept track of what was new and always took me... loved Star Wars... that first series was just glorious. The moment the death star exploded? Oh, wow. Just great fun.

As someone who is completely against any discrimination towards anyone based on skin color, gender, sexual preferences, etc etc (as I’m sure 99% of the people watching this video also are)

i honestly liked rey, i had optimism after the first movie. yeah she was a marry sue but i thought they were setting her up to start turning into an all powerful sith, just like i thought they were setting up kylo for a redemption thing. was kinda hoping she would go dark side and fight kylo, which would turn him light side after he lost the fight (and maybe a hand), and then he in turn would turn her light side near the end and they would fight side by side against the bbeg, triumph, then maybe start a new grey jedi order or something.
Sorry Disney thats what you get for making 2 movies (TLJ and TROS) for audiences that you think exists or are bothered about the subject...The Reylos (who are weird btw) proved in that clip) CLASS OF 77 AND PROUD.

I took my granddaughter to see the Disney Star Wars movies. She loved Rey but she couldn't understand why I didn't. I tried to explain how I didn't care for the fact that she just woke up one day and she was a Jedi while every other Jedi had to have years of training. But, she was 7 year old. I guess 7 year old girls is who these movies were made for.
This reminds me of Mr. Show's "Coupon The Movie".. a terrible movie that fails resulting in court mandated viewings.

I enjoyed one aspect of the TLJ - the references to the original script of the Star Wars Sequel, by Leigh Brackett. And that some designs were made in reference to McQuarie's concept art. There was also that scene with arms dealing. A great opportunity to show just how little that conflict was. Like, having TFO and Res being mostly dressed up mercenaries and "foreign" support and its just a local, domestic conflict in some galactic hellhole. That might've been a cherry on the turd, but would've also been a part I would freakin love... But looking at the movie as a whole, it would be better as a Star Wars story, with all its subversion, deconstruction and so on, than part of the Saga.
This movie has as much diversity as the plantations did...
We could mention numerous 'remakes' where identity politics was used to change the characters and story narrative, and then when the quality or resulting content sucked godzilla badness, they said the criticism could only have been due to racism, hate, intolerance, bigotry, etc.
