Gentlemen, I can safely say, from the vantage point of having been in a few bands over the decades, that I have heard MUCH worse than this. Keep going, keep playing, keep practicing, keep learning, and at some point you'll post a video on RUclips that will have people saying, "That ROCKS."
Gotta second this. Everybody who says this sucks I’m thinking.. this is actually decent garage alt. Relatively speaking. Ppl are so used to professional production these days that they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between bad and fair, ya know?
Technique level 1000: the guitarist plays the first chords with his thumb, holding his pick with the index and middle finger, and then proceeds to play the rest with the pick. Perfect switch in dynamics. The drummer is fucking awesome with his stick tricks, and the singer...that's a hell of a high ass falsetto. Mad props to the boys.
@@jesse107 i almost forgot to mention how precise and in the groove the bassist is, he serves the song so well you don't even notice his existence , finally a bassist who does the job right
I only play with my thumb and I can shred. Idk why its just how I learned and I like the softer sound. Plus it makes sweep picking super easy, but you can only do it with a downstroke 💀. I can play with a pick but choose not to, I have more control over the sound of the strings with my thumb.
There's definitely potential, the singer seemed to have a pretty good melody and the drummer and guitarist just need to work on syncopation. DONT GIVE UP!
I really liked the bands earlier work in the first 10 seconds of the video but their career in the last 24 seconds of video really went down hill. I would like to have seen them live when they were first starting out. They were def underrated and should have been more well known. I do hope they tour again, at least for the die hard fans.
Yeah the new stuff always drifts from the source spirit. But that stinted 'bing boooowwww.' Was revolutionary to the guitar world we gotta at least give them credit for that.
I remember my junior year in high school. I was the bassist in my band... We were shite... Senior year came, and I realized I was better at vocals and found out my friend Sergio was better at bass than I was. We found a new drummer, and our guitarist had gotten a lot better due to practicing. Man, the difference was night and day
I still look forward to anything they release with a thousand times more interest than anything Ed Sheeran inflicts upon our collective consciousness! !
keep it up guys. i didnt start playing guitar until i was 24 and had never been in a band till 28. I have a terrible ear cant read music or usually dont know what key songs are in but now i lead my own band with guys who are way better musicians than i am I also do solo acoustic/one man band gigs full time for a living now! practice and persistents pays off!!! keep it up
Yes! Civil is a good word to describe this and maybe wholesome? IF a drummer would try to restart a song because of a lost drumstick, there will be hell to pay... And yes another classic is throwing guitars at bandmates or guitar players cutting their strings in anger because their shitty equipment can't stay in tune, adding tension to the room ;D Vocalists refusing to be wrong when they very much are and just should admit it. Or bandmates just playing (usually a guitarist) what comes to mind between songs, which will be followed by alot of bandmembers screaming in contempt.
Usually par for the course. "Shut the fk up man! Play the fking song. 1, 2, 3, 4 ...." End up nailing it perfectly, harmonies, solos, etc. "yeah, it was pretty good."
Honestly my band started out almost the exact same way but we were a 4 piece and after months of practice we became moderately good and yeah so keep on practicing.
@Shimohira Reika couldn't agree more, i once joined a band that have someone who call himself a "leader" and he always dictate the other member about what and how to play. And when i get closer with the other member of the band, we decided to form a new band and exclude him.
@@jimbailey5681 Yeah! That's the motivation here. People don't want to hurt their feelings, so they are saying nice stuff about something that sounds horrible. Sad, but true. lol
@@guitarttimman I’m a musician and can recognise that although it’s rough, there’s potential. And I don’t say that to “protect the feelings” of some people from a 14 year old video, who will never see my comment. I say it because I’ve been there, I know how it goes. Yeah it’s bad to lie and say “this sounds great!” When it doesn’t, but discouraging young/starting musicians isn’t good for “the future of music” either. I (sometimes) like things that sound rough and shitty because it means that despite not having the best skills, they have passion for music and are trying anyway, and I think that’s very cool. Or maybe they’re just having fun and not taking themselves seriously, and it could be a lot worse, but still they’re trying and that’s also cool.
Boy, this is awfully similar to the number one comment. Is that what you do? You go around and farm for likes by writing comments that resemble the top comments?
Still my favorite song to this day. Lost my virginity to it, song at my wedding, and even played it for my kids in the womb. Divorced now, and the kids wont talk to me anymore. But you guys rock and keep me looking towards a future as rad as this song! Fuck yes!!
they arent the worst! there are even worse can happened to me in early days lol. our drummer was a taxi driver, so he barely shows up... he had to support his family... vocalist was ladies man and her girlfriend stuck with him all the time. when she busy her phone calls and messages ruined our practices many many times lol guitar guy was our bandleadwr and manager. he did eveeything for us. eternally grateful to him. and finally i, bassist - melancholy mofo lolol those were the days \m/
Thump n pluck gang. Bass tones are so powerful, fuzzed, clean, reverb, modulation? Bass is objectively just as versatile as the guitar. Have I mentioned my love for bass? Well let me tell you that groove is all you need man it just moves you. Ever see a man have a talk while thumping a nice line? You just listen, the rythm drives the speech in a way that focuses the listener like no other. Or an instrumental, a good bassist has the drums, bass, guitar, cello, and good knows what other noises at their disposal to create a complete piece. Bass is all you need.
Drummers are unreliable, crazy, or both. In fact I get the feeling in this video that the guy on drums is actually the bass player filling in for a drummer that didn't show up.
Had many of those practices in my early days...trust me when I tell you that it gets better as you go. Another bit of advice: When you're playing a live show...never stop because of a mistake, keep on going just like you never missed a beat. If you stop because of a mistake...it makes that mistake that much more noticeable.
Come on , if you've ever been in a band, especially in your younger days, you know this is where we all started.. at the beginning, it's not about pleasing others, it's about starting and enjoying the journey, lighten up folks, none of us knew a damn thing, until we put in our time and paid our dues..
yes, the comments are right, this seems like a decent band practice. Try one where everyone is high and/drunk, or only two people show up, or everyone shows up and there is a fight, or everyone is late, or it’s late so no drums, or someone brought their girlfriend and it’s distracting or an amp breaks, or the power gets knocked out or the cops come because you’re too loud or everyone keeps playing whatever they want and not focusing. Guess what I’ve had all these band practices :)
as a 20 year musician of mainly bass and drums, this is potential. granted it's 14 years old now, but this is how the greats get their start. This could have been the next Blink or Green Day. and just a heads up Mr drummer man: I've played for years, and even with all the skill in the world, you will always still lose a stick once in awhile and us as drummers are almost always the reason the song gets started over lol. Much love and respect boys.
There is a video in which Bard Kolstad (something like that) of Leprous breaks a stick and for some reason his instinct was to play with his hands a bit, totally worked and then he grabbed another stick. He's a phenomenal drummer. It was a cool moment. I believe it was on an official playthrough haha
dude, i dont wanna be that guy but.....there is no potential here. no potential whatsoever. at least not one that is connected with music in any shape or form
This is actually still the early stages of a band where people don’t feel pompous and entitled after being told they’re decent, and actually CARE about what they’re doing.
Meh. The drummer of band i knew had a drum kit that was a bass drum, the snare and toms were on milk crates, and the cymbals were held up by long wooden dowels that were duct taped into the same milk crates. Bass players amp was a really small practice amp, microphone was ran through a mid sized guitar amp that you could barely hear, and the guitarist couldnt keep his guitar in tune for more than a few seconds cuz the neck was really warped, plus his amp would cut out a lot and sometimes get radio signals. I've seen bands at the beginning of forming that would sort of start songs randomly with no real beginning, and no real end. Usually the "songs" were played different every time and at different lengths. Nobody really knew where the changes were and there really wasnt much of a structure, vocalist would write new lyrics for the songs every couple of practices and they never got to the point of playing live..
good thing my bands haven't recorded some of our practices, if this was the worst, you guys will do fine, keep practicing and rocking it out, and remember if you are playing to 5 guys in the garage having a few beers or 50000 in a stadium somewhere , bring the A game and leave it all out on the floor guys
Our bass player always turned up to practice with a hang-over, the drummer would then get bored and start slowing down like a steam engine coming to a halt which made us all look at each other and say " Break"! Our bass player earned the nick-name"Butter-fingers" and I must admit we had a blast and even developed a style to suit our situation, a cross between reggae/jazz/punk/funk. Inspite of our "floppy" style and manners we never missed a re-hearsal or gig, we were doing 2 gigs a night at our peak. Eventually we became a " concept" quartet and would do a set that was just 1 tune, the audience danced and really enjoyed themselves. Did whole gigs with just 3 strings on my guitar. The bottom line is that as long as the drummy stomps the bass drum in time all else will fall into place...and remember you can learn lot by looking and listening to total beginers! Have fun and make em dance
The guy who said “start over”, did it with such elegance and gesture that you could feel the class right there, it’s almost as if he was no less than Paul McCartney, what a professionalism in his craft, he is all in, fully committed! Such a poor performance by the drummer will not be tolerated in here! - you can read it in his eyes.
14 years later, where are they now? Probably I.T, fast food outlet, still at home doing nothing, married, the list is endless. But let's hope still playing music, because it wasn't that bad tbh.
My friends started a band. They only knew two chords. The drummer had three drums and a cymbal. I went to their gig. I found myself standing amongst the first two rows of chicks. And I started to learn the guitar the very next day.
Mate, had much worse! Problems normally alcohol related or just over -tired! Hope these guys got through it and are enjoying their music. The only way to learn how to play in a band is to play with a band. No books or online music sessions can cover that. Best of luck guys, love and peace.
As someone who used to have daily practices where the drummer would throw his sticks atleast once a song and the singer never showed up, I'm sure these guys were killing it after a few months
My high school band had a worse beginning than this tbh, we were broke kids so we had really bad equipment. Our vocalist wasn’t committed to the band like me (guitarist) and the drummer, so he would just make up lyrics on the spot, our bass player didn’t practice regularly with us so he didn’t know the songs and when he did practice he would also just make up bass parts on the spot. It was pure chaos.
The thing that always got me about being in a band, was that the damn rehearsals were always GREAT... Practice for weeks for a "big" gig... Nobody ever missed a trick at practice. But as soon as the night of the show came, it was like everyone in the band fell and hit their heads five minutes before we got on stage... And couldn't remember an effing thing for three sets. Clams left and right, missed cues, sometimes, two or more people in the band had no idea what the song was, even though we rehearsed it to death for a month beforehand... And all this was at EVERY SHOW for about six years. Absolutely mind boggling.
I had a friend whose band had a few members completely forget their parts mid-performance, causing them to have to take a break during their gig to try and remember. I think it just happens.
@@calowenby1654 hiya Cal... It's possible, but I'm talking about a band that was together for ten years... Even material that someone should know in their sleep... These guys would somehow forget. Even after having played it 100 times. Wild!
Was everybody just nervous? Being nervous causes all kinds of shit that is bad for music performances like the shakes, throat closing up, mind going blank, and a seemingly complete loss of the logic area of the brain lol, etc.
I remember those first couple of practices! The first band I joined was as a drummer that knew 1 beat and we all grew into an actual band. I loved every second of it.
The best band practice ever caught on video. Imagine this band went worldwide, and 14 years later this video pops up, and it blows everyone’s minds to see them the moment they started to figure it out. Nearly all musicians start at this point, it’s beautiful to see. How can you become anything without being born and growing persistently?
My first band- Suckore- took our guitarist’s dad’s old surround sound speakers and rigged it up as amps. We had to wait until he got drunk enough to attempt it. It became a live action game of “Don’t Wake Daddy.”
The fact that they all actually showed up to the practice makes this one of the best band practices

Gentlemen, I can safely say, from the vantage point of having been in a few bands over the decades, that I have heard MUCH worse than this. Keep going, keep playing, keep practicing, keep learning, and at some point you'll post a video on RUclips that will have people saying, "That ROCKS."
This is from 2008 BRUH lololol

Dawg this was 14 years ago 💀
Gotta second this. Everybody who says this sucks I’m thinking.. this is actually decent garage alt. Relatively speaking. Ppl are so used to professional production these days that they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between bad and fair, ya know?
The band needed this comment , just 14 years earlier!
Did anyone else notice that the practice is in a kindergarten classroom?
Technique level 1000: the guitarist plays the first chords with his thumb, holding his pick with the index and middle finger, and then proceeds to play the rest with the pick. Perfect switch in dynamics. The drummer is fucking awesome with his stick tricks, and the singer...that's a hell of a high ass falsetto. Mad props to the boys.
ACCURATE
Nice spin.
This has to be the funniest thing I've read in a while
@@jesse107 i almost forgot to mention how precise and in the groove the bassist is, he serves the song so well you don't even notice his existence , finally a bassist who does the job right
I only play with my thumb and I can shred.
Glad to see someone can think for themselves
You two should give up aswell.
They just have to play in the same time zone
@@samherrick5920 What?!
Just being able to gather in the same room together at the same time doesn't mean they have potential.
I really liked the bands earlier work in the first 10 seconds of the video but their career in the last 24 seconds of video really went down hill. I would like to have seen them live when they were first starting out. They were def underrated and should have been more well known. I do hope they tour again, at least for the die hard fans.
These has-beens sold out in the last 12 seconds of the video, and their hard partying and drug use really caught up to them by the last 6 seconds
I Just met them now. Totally born in the wrong generation.
Yeah the new stuff always drifts from the source spirit. But that stinted 'bing boooowwww.' Was revolutionary to the guitar world we gotta at least give them credit for that.

Senior year came, and I realized I was better at vocals and found out my friend Sergio was better at bass than I was. We found a new drummer, and our guitarist had gotten a lot better due to practicing. Man, the difference was night and day
They're doing something creative together. That alone makes this practice good enough in my book.
They rocked the fuck out of that first grade room

This is pretty civil if I’m being honest. I’ve had practices where band members are throwing their amps at each other whilst screaming.
sounds more like it haha
You mean that is not normal? LOL! Yeah, practices from hell are more common than people might think.
Yes! Civil is a good word to describe this and maybe wholesome? IF a drummer would try to restart a song because of a lost drumstick, there will be hell to pay... And yes another classic is throwing guitars at bandmates or guitar players cutting their strings in anger because their shitty equipment can't stay in tune, adding tension to the room ;D
Vocalists refusing to be wrong when they very much are and just should admit it. Or bandmates just playing (usually a guitarist) what comes to mind between songs, which will be followed by alot of bandmembers screaming in contempt.
Was par for the course at practice. Few drum sticks get flown, a couple of "Alright just play the fucking song!"
Usually par for the course. "Shut the fk up man! Play the fking song. 1, 2, 3, 4 ...." End up nailing it perfectly, harmonies, solos, etc. "yeah, it was pretty good."
My ears just filed a lawsuit against me.
Sounds about like the first band I was ever in:) I love it.
The bass player quit because his chances of getting laid were already pretty slim, let alone if he kept hanging with these fellas

@Shimohira Reika couldn't agree more, i once joined a band that have someone who call himself a "leader" and he always dictate the other member about what and how to play.
And when i get closer with the other member of the band, we decided to form a new band and exclude him.

If you’re in a band where everyone isn’t playing their own random thing and just gets right into it then that’s already an amazing rehearsal

...and I'm kinda nuts on guitar
What song is that?
Im wondering the same
Had many of those practices in my early days...trust me when I tell you that it gets better as you go.
I was a pro from day one - so speak for yourself. (also, don’t ask the other guys, they had no idea what talent looked like!)
yes, the comments are right, this seems like a decent band practice.
Yup. I just do my own thing now
Everything you mentioned seemed to me like yesterday...!
Or the bass player turns up pissed and offers everone out then sacks himself.
Yeah this was perfect
I like how this video is 2 months older than me. Really puts into perspective just how long RUclips has been around
as a 20 year musician of mainly bass and drums, this is potential. granted it's 14 years old now, but this is how the greats get their start.

These are the bands that end up turning out to be the best bands
“Just keep practicing, you’ll be rock stars someday!”
The Practices:
Take a screenshot from any 2000s coming of age flick. Looks like a band that would play in an American Pie movie.
good thing my bands haven't recorded some of our practices, if this was the worst, you guys will do fine, keep practicing and rocking it out, and remember if you are playing to 5 guys in the garage having a few beers or 50000 in a stadium somewhere , bring the A game and leave it all out on the floor guys
This is somehow strangely nostalgic for me
Our bass player always turned up to practice with a hang-over, the drummer would then get bored and start slowing down like a steam engine coming to a halt which made us all look at each other and say " Break"!

As someone who used to have daily practices where the drummer would throw his sticks atleast once a song and the singer never showed up, I'm sure these guys were killing it after a few months
The mark of every good drummer is that he only has one pair of drumsticks.
Man, they have a lot of space to practice. Already better than the worst band practice ever.
