For a song written for the violin, I never thought this could be played on such an extraordinary instrument like a baritone saxophone. You nailed it! Amazing, and most people know that took a lot of practicing. Keep it up.
Yes, I understood you, but in every country there are an general style of sound. Here in spain, sounds like a violonchelo is not right. I am a professional baritone player, and here is good to don't sounds like a violonchelo. Hugs from the city of real music, Valencia
My bari sax is held together with electrical tape and prayers, im so jealous of this guy and his sexy instrument xD great talent, wish i knew who it was though...
Benjamin Henigin DUDE SAME. My harness broke while I was doing a halftime show (Yes I do March bari and I'm only 5'4"). The flipping neotech plastic clasp just snapped and it crashed. Completely unusable until I paid over 400$ in repairs. What did neotech Do? They gave me another harness for free. That is all. Those bastards. But now I have it in a bunch of tape cause I couldn't afford to fix everything.
started playing clarinet at 11 and then switched to Tenor, Band needed a Bari so switched to Bari and now i’m here as a 12 yr old turning 13 on August. I loved every second of this it sounds so mesmerizing
Paul Davies, actually the Bari was made so saxophones could play in a quartet and the Bari could play cello music, Infact that's why later it was given a low A so it could completely cover cello music
Feather Fanatics the music is simply put into treble clef for bari sax when it's cello music. And funny enough, when you change music from bass clef to treble clef and then transpose it Eb (bari is in Eb) the notes end up in the same place anyway. For example a C in bass clef is on the second space. Well a C for a bari is an A. And A is of course 2nd space on treble clef. But regardless of all that, it's true that the bari was given a low A and play cello music. The music is just changed to treble clef. Not to mention there are many people who read both clefs just fine.
Bari was made to take the “cello” part in quartets to complete a full sax quartet which is why later on low A was added to completely be able to play cello parts (transcribed of course)
Started playing sax when I was 12 with the alto. I used an ancient conn that played terrible but I got used to it and learned to like it. Moved to tenor when I was 13 and the sax was beautiful but it too played terribly since it had constant leaks. Started bari in highschool and all of a sudden I had all this air that I could use for low notes. None of the other bari players had the air that I did. From playing garbage instruments my whole music career, my lungs became more developed since I constantly had to use more air and because of that, I became a better bari player!
I started with a bad alto at twelve, and I am 14 and just started bari. I have the air for it but my embouchure needs a lot of work after playing an alto for two years.
Find an old beater. They aren't terribly expensive and its better to start with a beater that way you have better air developed for a nicer instrument.
To listen to real class and style on the baritone just listen to Gerry mulligan-seeing him live at Brecon many years ago one of the highlights of my jazz life!1
I think the reason he uses a Baritone Sax for this is because when you play on any saxophone with the octave key engaged it will play with a much more mellow sound which, in this case makes it sound like a Cello at times. Still beautiful.
i never played alto, actually. instead of playing alto my band director wanted me on bari (i switched over from clarinet). now i'm playing tenor in marching band and bari in a jazz and concert band.
I started on tenor sax in 6th grade and switched to bari in 7th and I've been playing bari every year since (freshman now) I play it in concert and jazz
He performed Fantasia for Saxophone by Claude T. Smith yesterday in Singapore for a Saxophone Symposium. Simply stunning & i'm still in awe at the effortlessly & beautifully executed altissimo range.
Momen Z. After making a tongue you hit the roof of your mouth with the back of your tongue. This briefly cuts off the sax's air supply mimicking a tongue.
haydenprogamer Play the both of them, I had the same problem, you just need to practice, tighten your strap some(or lower it, that wotks sometimes too), and the MOST important thing, make sure that the knobs on your lignature are facing you(it doesn't really matter on clarinet but it is VITAL on the tenor saxophone) and that it's loose enough to go on the bottom of your reed. I hope you get this and learn from it. GOOD LUCK
Me quito el sombrero caballero, realmente fantastica la interpretacion de este virtuoso del SAXOFON BARITONO .... YASUKO TANAKA ... mis respetos ... !!!
+Raywood Miller Correct, this is "czardas" - but the word "czardas" in general is a name for a fast originally Hungarian folk-based song/composition style - as such. This particular piece, in this video (masterfully played, btw....) is the "Czardas" by the Italian composer Vittorio Monti. And it´s often referred to as "The Monti Czardas". Hope this info helped you. ;)
+Ali Hakam You just have to tighten up your embouchre. I used to play clarinet before I played bari so that probably helps, but you have to really tighten up your entire face on the really high notes.
The key to bari altissimo is inner throat shape, not tightness of the face. Tightening your face makes it much much harder to get the notes out with presence and color.
+Stockerrgames The tuba is fucking awesome. I play clarinet and sometimes wish i could play the tuba, but it's better I go for the bari sax because im used to woodwind.
+Noah Pettibon (TravellingSax) Please don't understand me false, it's very good; the slow part is very sensitiv played and the fast part with excellent technic -> a excellent player; but I don't understand, why it's now "The Best of Bariton Sax Playing". I didn't want to say, that I'm better. I hope you understand me now. :) to say that something is the best is very simple said; if you want my opinion, who is a very good Sax Player and a fantastic song, look at "Fantaisie by Jules Demersseman" played by Alto I don't want know, how many people who are reading this comment are now mad at me

You might want to play a tenor first, I was playing an alto and I found it hard to get the breathing right on the tenor so you might not want to jump that quick
that is a good suggestion, the only thing with tenor is it is in a different key which is kind of annoying to learn... I had the same troubles with barri but u seem to get used to it after a while
Spazzy Johnson its depends on the person. i would really recomend him or her doing that. i switched from sorprano to tenor. it was great! if i were him id stick to e flat saxophones, like baritone or sopranino.
I've got 7 years of alto saxophone experience, and now I've started to play baritone along with my alto. I hope to become as good as this guy. the piece doesn't looks like it's that hard, but only the fast part looks like it would be a pain in the but. furthermore, very good saxophone player!

Whats the name of the song?
@@alphaslime5693 Czardas - Vittorio Monti
surprisingly a lot of string pieces sound great on bari
I asked my friend to close his eyes, and asked him what instrument this was, and he said CELLO!!!
***** That's actually a good thing, because a cello is meant to have that great of a tone, and he did it on a Baritone Sax. It is rather impressive.

He has the most beautiful tone that I've ever heard on a Bari. At times, he sounds like Yo-yo Ma....
started playing clarinet at 11 and then switched to Tenor, Band needed a Bari so switched to Bari and now i’m here as a 12 yr old turning 13 on August. I loved every second of this it sounds so mesmerizing
absolutely one of the most prettiest saxophone solos on Bari I have ever hesrd!!!!!
Wow it almost sounds like a cello
Paul Davies, actually the Bari was made so saxophones could play in a quartet and the Bari could play cello music, Infact that's why later it was given a low A so it could completely cover cello music
+George Woolley They do play the cello part in the sax quartet, but Bari sax doesn't read bass clef so it can't play cello music
Feather Fanatics the music is simply put into treble clef for bari sax when it's cello music. Justin Hill Yeah but the key signature will be different.
Aadarsh Balireddy correct and what I didn't not mention is you simply add 3 sharps to the key signature you see. Then it works just fine.
This is the most prettiest Bari sax song I've ever heard in my life. it shockingly sounds like a cello o-o

the power of the double tongue
Might as well be triple tonguing
TheMystic Pyro I don’t think you know what triple tonguing is lol. It’s actually easier than double tonguing and doesn’t fit any of this music at all.

wonderful music...Thanks and God continued blessings...
He performed Fantasia for Saxophone by Claude T. Smith yesterday in Singapore for a Saxophone Symposium. Simply stunning & i'm still in awe at the effortlessly & beautifully executed altissimo range.
He brought non-living notes on the scores, into a living beautiful piece which carries emotions and feelings. Marvelous job.
This is absolutely beautiful.. I switched from Bari to bass clarinet, I love both dearly but I think I’m gonna switch back!
omg is he tonguing all that?!?!???
He is double tonguing.
Jane TehGamer how do you double tongue?
Momen Z. After making a tongue you hit the roof of your mouth with the back of your tongue. This briefly cuts off the sax's air supply mimicking a tongue.
Racheal Butt I think allot slurring but in a way it’s not so shlumped all together
As both a Bari Sax player and a Ed Grimley fan, this is TOTALLY DECENT I MUST SAY!!
Awesome! I did not think a Baritone sax could sound like that. At first I thought it was a Cello.
Now this, puts a smile on my face.
There's always an Asian better than you...
