If you cut the foam at a diagonal toward the head it’ll taper as you synch it down.
I’ve tied a number of dragon flies this way but I’ll definitely be trying this out. Thank you!

It kind of reminds me of a mop fly, but looks way more durable!

I wondering if there is a reason that you split your thread as opposed to creating a dubbing loop? Neat fly. Keep the good stuff coming.

It’s a lot easier for me. It’s harder to twist the dubbing loop.

Nice fly tying techniques. How does your lure act in the water? Thanks, awesome bug! 🐛

It sinks slowly. No action, but they can’t resist.

Thanks for sharing this tutorial. With the foam body and tail and the weighted head will this do a slow vertical sink? And stand up vertically off the bottom?
    Something like a ned rig.

Have you tried using rabbit zonker instead of foam

I am sure this jig crushes but I'm also sure it's a frustrating tie, even for advanced tyers.

Where is the best place to order materials?

  • @adventureswithfrodo2721

This seems useless as a jig as the lead he'd will not sink that much EVA foam.

It actually does sink if the head is lead. Maybe with a brass bead it would float, but it has a slow sink to entice strikes.
