Hey Peter, I have the HDA929 for the TV in my living area, which is an older 55" Panasonic with no eARC that I don't want to replace because it's not used a whole lot anymore so can't justify the expense of a new TV when the old one is still working just fine - and also, it's just got the loveliest picture - nicer than the newer, far more expensive 65" in the other room. It's connected to a Beam Gen 3 with sub mini and 2 sonos ones. The HDA929 works flawlessly for me (I've had it for a few months now) - for some reason it did have a weird issue when I first set it up where the picture was all distorted - but after rebooting it, it's been running perfectly ever since with no further restarts. Actually I find watching certain shows on that setup more enjoyable than my "big boy" Arc setup in the media room, the Beam Gen 3 and sub mini are such a good combo in a smaller space.
OREI devices look interesting. I would love for them to use a standard USB-C power input instead of a barrel connector. This is a minor change, but it would make it just a bit easier to standardize on newer power supply tech.
Thanks Peter, I'd be really interested in an OREI HDMI splitter review as I'm thinking about adding a second audio system to my TV (Sony A8H with eARC). So I'd be interested in switching between my Sonos Arc and a second amp with HDMI, such as the Marantz M1. But I'd only want to make the jump if the HDMI splitter works perfectly.
Have suffering sound degrade due to older 12 year old version of my TV by streamlining from TV too. Have thought to purchase a new TV end of this year. Wait for your review.
I have the HDA929 connected to an 8 year old 55" Panasonic UHD TV with no eARC - I have a Google Chromecast HD plugged into it, as well as a Beam Gen 2 - it works exceptionally well with my Beam Gen 2, Sub Mini and One surrounds. My other TV is a much newer OLED Panasonic with eARC, on which I have an Arc plus 2 Sub Gen 3's, plus 2 Era 300's - but in many ways I prefer the smaller setup for normal "TV" shows - the big setup is better for movies - but the small setup is more intimate and just has such a warm relaxing sound. Anyway, if you love your older TV's picture like I do, the HDA929 is a great option to give it the sound it deserves without having to buy a whole new TV.
Hi, Peter Hope you are well ? I have a question that would love your feedback back. My setup up is Sony A95L Sonos arc 1 (replaced Gen2 ) Uk Sky UHD box Apple 4k PS5 / pro Amazon fire stick 4k max. I have purchased a HD fury Vroom box in preparation to insure all HDMI connections will the best audio and video quality. I’m now thinking do I replace the HD fury vroom with the new Philips hue sync 8k as I think it will do the same with additional lighting feature. I would love to hear your feedback back and thought. Pros and cons. Love you passion keep up the great work.
Yeah it's nuts, the update for Android just dropped today - and STILL no queue management! I have an iPhone 12 and a Pixel 6 - the iPhone Sonos app is actually working great now - the Android version - still missing basic features and still often sluggish and unresponsive. My Pixel is my preferred daily phone, because IOS is just not my cup of tea (not configurable enough for me, and generally too clunky as a power user) - I really don't understand why they haven't added queue management to Android at the same time as IOS - I'm a software dev who works on both platforms, and there is no reason I can think of for this, other than perhaps they don't have competent Android devs (maybe they fired them all?) I guess at least now at parties I can use the iPhone for queue management, so that's better than it was last week.
Hi Pete, I have Sonos Arc with Sub Gen 3 and 2 SL as surrounds. I am looking for upgrade, should I add second sub to the system or replace SL with two ERA 300? Which is the better option?
Hi Peter I purchased the HDA-929 thinking I could hook it up with the Sonos Playbar 1 but it’s optical and no HDMI. Is there a splitter for optical to HDMI I can use to make it work or do I have to send this back. Thanks
❤ I’m still using the previous version of the Sonos app in gold because I haven’t upgraded to the new version with the black icon yet. Is it safe to switch over now? I keep reading negative reviews about the new version on the App Store. Can anyone confirm if I should upgrade the software right away?
Queue management is not fully back in my view unless and until you can save the queue to Sonos playlists. Secondly at present you cannot even view the queue if you replaying radio service such as Sonos Radio or iHeart radio. You should still be able to see the queue and adjust it even when it is not in use. When those two things come back I will declare we are almost there. These things are still easily done in S1 and to a large extent in SonoPhone 3rd party app.
Question, you have any problems noted for use of Roku Ultra. Since they software mess, my Roku will only play stereo. Roku knows of no problems. Online with SONOS for two hrs. They see nothing, thanks Greg
As someone who had dipped a toe in, and then went more deeply into the system after the app issues, I get it now. Holy down they screwed things up. Why can’t I even control the volume of my surrounds anymore, or is that just me?
What is the best way to stream music to the Sonos products. Wi-Fi and what kind? Or Wired Lan? Streaming devices like blue node? Etc.. Also what is the best way to integrate Sonos into a full home theater setup?
I’ve just updated the hardware and software. Running sonos app on an ios18 iphone pro max. Everything set as before and my sub has gone back to sounding like it was a year ago when they messed up the sound signature. Absolutely terrible. The arc now gives more sound from the sides but sounds too tinny. Do you have any new sound tests with the latest updates? I have a sub gen2, arc and ones surrounds. Thanks
I think its good to know if those splitters work if you have a eArc with a sonos Arc and Apple tv because you can only put the sonos arc in the eArc port and the Apple tv in the regular port so now you can get full Dolby sound or video from the Apple tv. If the splitter can let you get full Dolby sound and video from the Apple tv I would buy one.
I own an old TV which has no audio passthrough. This type of devices are still relevant. I wonder how the hdmi-cec will work with such a device in the loop
No queue management for Android yet - I have an iPhone 12 and a Pixel 6 - both running the latest version - iPhone 12 has queue management, Pixel 6 does not.
If you are on Android, the update didn't drop until yesterday - AND - it still doesn't include the queue management of the iPhone app. Unacceptable, IMO - I have both Android and iPhone, but my main phone is Android - they need to keep functional parity between both - if they can't, it just shows they continue to mismanage things.
Is anyone experiencing this issue - I’m listening to music playlist and switch to TV source but then can’t revert to the music queue - is this an issue just with my set up
But no editing queues for android... yet... Sonos Playlists aren't even complete on android either... only about first 40 alphabetically arranged... sigh...

Thanks for all the Sonos updates. ****I'm hoping someone can give me a setup recommendation here****. I have Sonos in every room except for my living room which has a front projector and full surround using a pioneer elite vsx-lx505 and a mix of mid-fi speakers. the living room is fairly small and has a super high ceiling and is open to the dining room and other living spaces that have 9' ceilings. I'd like to move to Sonos speakers, but with a front projector and five or six HDMI devices, I pretty much still need a receiver, or a high ends HDMI switching device that can handle six devices. Any recommendations? As a recommendation for Sonos, it would be great to have a vertical wall mounted speaker the size of a Beam Gen 2 or maybe a little larger to use as surrounds instead of Era 300's
Agree, it’s one headache after another. Shame because speakers are top notch but spoiled by such a driver. Sometimes I don’t know if it’s the app, my fault or my WiFi network. A mess if you own 17 speakers all over the house like myself
