THIS IS WHY THERE IS NO COMPARING WHEN PPL TRY COMPARING OTHANI'S CONTRACT TO THE FUTURE CONTRACT OF JUAN SOTO
There’s only one correct path: The Dodgers. He’ll have the best resources, best teammates, and less pressure with other experienced arms to carry the load. Let’s also not forget, LA has the best lifestyle.
Something kinda crazy that i didnt even realize.. Miguel Rojas (in 103 games and nearly half the AB's) had a higher WAR last season than Willy Adames. Not that WAR is everything, just kinda interesting
I've been concerned with Willy's strike outs. In '24, he struck out almost as much as Teo. I think the team has plenty of slug; maybe adding someone who puts the ball in play would be a better option, because strike outs kill momentum.
Ideal 6 man rotation: Glasnow, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Walker, Kersh, Crochet/Fried (I put Garret first only because that would mean a trade is done which they desperately need) and Roki. Yes, I know this are 7 but with how they're going to be with pitch counts and/or injuries... Edit: Now... on pure greed, Crochet AND Fried
ESPN - Durability is the biggest question with Sasaki. His career high in innings is 129⅓, set in 2022. This year, he made 18 starts after a torn oblique and right arm soreness caused him to sit out about a quarter of his outings.

Pass on Soto. If we wanted him, we would have pursued him before. Keep Hernandez brothers. Keep Treinen. Keep Buehler unless he gets a bag somewhere else. It’s up to him. We have talent we can bring up and should.
No Soto but get Crochet and Scott/Williams in trade market and sign Buehler Trienan Fried KikI and Teo. Trade Lux Grove Outman Cartaya Knack and Miller
Yamamoto, Sasaki, Shohei,, Glassnow, Stone, Buehler, Kershaw, and let’s say they can get Fried. Who’s getting left out? 8 Sp and 6 spot. I would love for Buehler to come back. Playoff Buehler is real and that’s all that dodger should care about.
You guys said Padres is not a possibility for Sasaki but you don't understand the persuasive ability of Dervish. He is really looked up to by Japanese players.
ESPN - International amateur bonus pools are capped, with the top teams this year able to spend just over $7.1 million, larger-market, higher-spending teams at $4.6 million and the rest in between. Teams can add up to 60% of their allotted pools by trading for other teams' bonus-pool money. Most teams have spent the majority of their 2024 bonus pools already, with the signing period for international free agents running from Jan. 15 to Dec. 15 annually.
the dodgers is the “smallest” market from a media attention perspective. ohtani will naturally take away most of the attention from roki and make the transition a bit easier for him.
I honestly hate the fact that the Dodgers might consider bringing Soto. Guy does not fit Dodgers culture. Dodgers are smart about that because they didn’t even consider signing Machado long term. These guys just don’t FIT!!!!! We have plenty when we bring back Teoscar
I'm curious if Roki's endorsement dollars will jump when he joins MLB such that his total earnings will be higher here than if he stayed in the NPB. Also, I can't find what his current earnings are.

I feel like Adames will age badly. His type of bat isn't necessarily sustainable. With his legs deteriorating through age, his bat isn't good enough with Mookie already in the infield.
@@davidsarell6080 so wait for next year and sign him as a FA. he’s gonna test FA no matter what anyway. even if u trade for him he’s still gonna test FA
In my opinion, Sasaki doesn't necessarily want to play WITH Ohtani but that he wants to go to MLB while Ohtani is still in his prime so I'd say he'll pick a different team besides the Dodgers. I also don't think that he wants to get compared against Yamamoto as he will likely be worse in both performance, and injury risk
But he will get compared regardless of which team. In fact, he'll probably get compared less if he is teammates with Yamamoto. We didn't compare Yamamoto with Flaherty or Glasnow. We did compare Yamamoto with whoever he was competing against in a game.
@@solenstyle No, you are missing the point. Comparison is primarily because they are both pitchers from JAPAN and considered as one of the best of the current generation from there. Added to the fact that Ohtani will also be joining as a starter from next yr. I certainly wouldn't want never ending comparison talks from both fans and the media if I was in his situation
I've read that Dodgers games are the only ones routinely aired in Japan, so I'd think that would factor into Sasaki's decision. Besides, there's that undeniable attraction of playing for a perennial playoff team, which also is known for its pitcher development. But we're all speculating, and he hasn't even been posted yet.
Play w darvish for maybe 2 years or play with yamamoto who has a long career ahead and the greatest baseball player ever ohtani i don't think it's much competition. In addition playing for the dodgers might net him some more money from endorsements if he does well and he would not get those endorsements on the padres.
Time for a full court press by Friedman, Ohtani and Yamamoto
Thanks guys. Appreciate you podcasting late and burning the midnight oil.
Dodgers are also one of the best teams to help develop young pitching.
