Just the kind of video I was looking for. An actual day in the life of a PTA. Thanks!
Timpala44 I agree.

This was literally perfect and greatly detailed! I can tell he really loves his job:) more encouraging to me to pursue this field
This was, hands down, the BEST PTA video on youtube. So informative, detailed & realistic. None of that bubbly "ohh I'm a PTA, come see how most days are sunshine & rainbows" Thank you for taking the time/effort to do this
Cliff and I were classmates at MHCC over 20 years ago! He was a strong student and I cannot say enough about him as a professional who is evidence based, skilled, caring and holistic in his approach to high quality care. My personal best to you and yours Cliff! Marc Duyck MSEd. PTA, CSCS

That was a wonderfully informative video. Thank you so much for creating it and posting it here on RUclips. It has helped me choose between a PTA and OTA program.
Awesome video! Well put together, and Cliff Stanford seems like a really dedicated, knowledgable PTA. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks so much for explaining things. As a person looking to change careers to where I can help people have a better way of life I found this video very informative. Thanks again Mr. Stanford!

I am a PTA. While we are doing this, the DPT is evaluating more patients for us to see. The evaluation process is much more involved.
Who the hell gave this video thumbs down???!!
Awesome video~ I am currently a Massage Therapist, specializing in sports, and Deep Tissue, I am wanting to incorporate my passion for Massage with Physical therapy, as an assistant. This has really given me a sense of direction. Thanks for sharing. Now Researching programs in physical Therapy here in Houston, Texas.
Hi Veronica, I'm in Houston as well and thinking of going into PTA. I'm also a Massage Therapist, although I only practice occasionally as my full-time job is in another field. Did you pursue the PTA program? Where are you in the process? Would love to pick your brain and ask a questions if you ended up going after it. Let me know if there's an email where I can send you a message?
V good
SEVENTEEN PATIENTS A DAY, 30 mins each back to back that is, assuming there is a paperwork slot of 30 mins, that would be a 10 hour day including lunch. Just to give you guys an idea.
How often do physical therapy assistants have to clean up poop/pee/vomit??
It's 2 years in America and it will eventually be a bachelors most likely. You learn everything you need to know for an entry-level job, but what you use depends on the area you're working in. In Bulgaria, people actually give a shit about other humans beings so you aren't bogged down with laws and accreditation (i.e. MORE MONEY MAKING), so I can see why you can move your way up. Out here you NEED to go through a program to work and become certified etc.
What can a PTA expect for starting salary?
Anywhere from $20-$30 an hour depending on where you live :)
Great Video guys, very helpful!
Question: how much percent of what you've learned into the school, will apply to your day by day job, i heard is a 2 years program, I heard it takes one year to finish all your prereques, and you need to study math, english, etc?from I see in the video is not so much. Here, in my country, you dont need to go to school, you start as a PTA aide and work your way up.
PS. Sorry for my english, I live in Bulgaria
Does anyone know how much pta get paid by hrs? That would be very helpful
Great great video.
I am looking into this career but 17 patients a day.
Why the human race work load is so great I just don't know" but great video.
I would love to have you participate in the Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant Professionals Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/PTAPRO/
Can anyone care to tell me the pre reqs they had to do
GoldenMoses Basically your basic pre reqs, AP 1 and 2, Tech Math, Physics, Eng 1 and 2, just some random other ones :)
+GoldenMoses Associates degree in Physical Therapy assisting.
hellosummer16 Super late but thanks! I just completed my final ones last semester!
GoldenMoses how is it going so far?
Very informative video. This position is very involved. What is the Physical Therapist doing during all of this time? It seems like the PTA is doing most of the work.
It depends on the clinic. PT's organize a plan based on what doctors diagnosis is, but in clinic where I had rehab on my knee, the PT was very involved with patients. They definitely just don't sit behind their desk all day. At the minimum, he met with me at the start of AND at the end of every session also to discuss what would be happening, what projected outcome would be & make sure I knew how to do my "homework" excercises. But many times he saw me even more than that to check up on me while I was doing my repetitions
Are there any physical therapist assistant programs near San Jose Ca. Thank you.
I have been a physical therapist assistant for 28 years the field is flooded and government plus insurance cut backs make this job unstable. Never know if you are going to have work. Used to be a good job now not so much!!! I have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet.
From what ive researched its pretty good, are you in the US?
that all it is is research its not the real world!! yes american
scarlette redd Well can you kindly explain your experiences? I'm interested
I am not wasting my time answering your stupid questions i said yes american on the above reply....
scarlette redd okay grumpy pants smh 😂😭
underpaid.
how?
Lyndon Prince Yeah, I don’t think they’re underpaid. I think a median salary is a good living (and it grows), and a great living if you’re a PTA in certain states like Texas.
